If we quest for the oldest brewing and distilling spot in Scotland, Tullibardine seems like an obvious choice. Almost nothing has changed here since the times of King James IV in the 15th century. This was the first public brewery in Scotland. The name Tullibardine means vantage point in Gaelic and originates from a little medieval chapel, set up in 1446 near the distillery.

Tullibardine Sauternes Finish is made entirely from locally-sourced malted barley. After its first beauty sleep in ex-Bourbon American oak casks, it enjoys a one year finish in Sauternes casks from Chateau Suduirat, France. Sauternes is a French sweet wine from the Sauternais region of the Graves section in Bordeaux. It is characterized by the balance of sweetness with the zest of acidity. This relatively expensive wine is only made when the conditions in Bordeaux are perfect. Due to its climate, Sauternes is one of the few wine regions where infection with noble rot is still a frequent occurrence.

Each cask of the Tullibardine holds 225 litres, which gives this single malt the final flavour, a beautiful golden colour and its name. The Sauternes Finish represents a great spirit, with a touch of tradition and finished with a modern spin.
