A delightful 100% Trinidadian Rum aged seventeen years in Bourbon barrels under the Caribbean sun.

We’ve heard a lot of origin stories in the Spirits business, so it’s hard to impress us these days. But the story of Marc Farrell is pretty darned impressive. He was born in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad and Tobago. At the ripe old age of sixteen he left to study chemical engineering… at MIT. He went on to get a Master in Philosophy from Cambridge and an MBA from some school called Harvard. At the age of thirty-three he became the youngest VP at Starbucks. Last year he stepped out on his own to launch a new Caribbean Rum brand "Ten to One," to develop a contemporary, elevated Rum experience. See what we mean? Impressive, right?

Ten To One 17 Year Old Single Cask Rum is the first "Reserve" limited edition they’ve released. There are only 1488 bottles in total, pulled from just four casks, individually bottled. To create this expression, Marc Farrell went back to his roots, acquiring Rum aged seventeen years in ex-Bourbon barrels in Trinidad & Tobago — where he was born. This delightful Spirit sparkles with flavor and has been bottled without added coloring or flavorings at 43% ABV.

We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Alexandra
Alexandra,
More of a whiskey style rum. Not bad but not our thing.

Dorothy
Dorothy,
A littke too strong for me but I'm taking my time with this. I've only had arcardi so my taste buds are not as developed and I'm still new to Flaviar. Still sipping...

Agreeing with Randi. This was awful!

Austin
Austin,
I received Cask 2 of 4. It's unlike most anything I've nosed/tasted from a spirit perspective. Perhaps not the right place for a beginner rum enthusiast to start their journey, but a delightful part of the journey if you've had a few ultra aged selections under your belt. Nose: Petrol opening to Apricot after some time in glass. Palate : Intense Fruit (Apricot and Melon) mild vegetal thing happening as well. Finish: Med-Long. Fruit that turns into unmistakable Spearmint. Nose, palate, and finish all hugely different. It's dope!!

Dana

Courtney
Courtney,
Exceptional rum! I first learned about this product when the founder was on Flaviar Nightcap Live and it truly lived up to the hype. I highly recommend this rum as well as Ten To One's traditional dark rum. Love this brand.

Pooja
Pooja,
I haven't had anything like this before. The apricot and papaya notes stand out the most to me. I will be holding onto this bottle for sipping on special occasions.

Rum was smooth but both myself and my wife just found that the finish was not too are liking. Very disappointed. Hope we can find something to mix with it . Really hard to think about that at this price point

What was it about the finish, you both did not like?
ALJAZ
ALJAZ,
Lovely. You can definitely taste the age statement. I get tobacco and leather with a ton of fruit.

Amy
Amy,
I have never tasted a rum like this, and that’s such a GOOD thing! A truly new and unique experience for me. The nose hits you with lovely tropical fruit - grilled pineapple, super ripe papaya, burnt sugar, and lemon oil. The palate is complex - never a dull moment! Floral and fruity, I get a lot of stone fruit, melon, and orange blossom. The finish is long, floral and (lemon)grassy, with some sweet vanilla coming through. If you gave this to me and I tasted it blind, it wouldn’t be obvious that this is a rum. But it is. And a unique and delicious one that does a killer job at showing there’s much to experience within the rum category. Thanks for keeping me on my toes!
