TEN HIGH

Ten High gets it name from the position of the best casks in a rick-house. Barrels that were at the top of the stack (ten levels up), aged faster in the warmer air.

The brand was originally established by the famous Hiram Walker & Sons after the end of Prohibition, and it was an important brand at the time. It used to be one of many in the broad category of straight Bourbon Whiskey.

These days the brand is controlled by Barton, and the product is now “Bourbon blend” -- legal definition requires that only 51% of the product actually be Bourbon -- the rest in neutral grain spirits. It is sold at 40% ABV.
