Dublin’s finest.

Jack Teeling founded the Teeling Whiskey Company in 2012, with a mission to challenge the norm by crafting Irish Whiskey with more depth of personality and character than the current mass-market options, and to become Ireland's leading independent Irish Whiskey producer. Jack Teeling comes from a family with a long tradition associated with Irish Whiskey. Take for example the Cooley distillery, which was founded by John Teeling, and Walter Teeling in 1782, setting up a distillery on Marrowbone Lane in Dublin.

Teeling’s way of doing things is perhaps a tad unorthodox. They blend, age and bottle Whiskey from different sources much in the form of Scottish independent bottlers. And that is the reason why we are so fond of their work. Not only are they the first ones to open a new distillery in Dublin in decades, they also do things with a new perspective and give the traditional Irish Whiskey a new style.

Teeling Single Grain is aged in ex-Cabernet Sauvignon red wine casks, not in ex-Bourbon barrels as one would presume. It’s predominantly corn grain based, which gives it a neat, sweetened character somewhat reminiscent of Bourbon. No chill filtration was used so all the natural flavours were preserved. A sweet, smooth sipper!

What does Teeling Single Grain Irish Whiskey taste like?

The Flavour Spiral™ shows the most common flavours that you'll taste in Teeling Single Grain Irish Whiskey and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavour Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Tasting Notes

Appearance / Colour
Rich gold colour.

Smell / Nose
A slight smell of corn, with a mix of fruity and spicy aromas tingling around the presence of vanilla and dark chocolate.

Taste / Palate
Dry and spicy in the first stage, when later all sorts of different aromas come to mind from cranberries and plums from the use of red wine cask to the more rounder softer notes of honey and butterscotch.

Finish
The fusion of all the above stated aromas finish in a long dry grain based, malty conclusion that surprises but goes away with satisfaction.

William
William,
One of the best Irish whiskeys out there. Not too sweet with oak and dryness on the finish. Live it. Better than Red Breast.
