While Whisky lovers tend to think about the forests due to them being a valuable source of cask wood, rarely do they think about ocean forests.

Talisker Single Malt Scotch Whisky 44-Year-Old: Forests of the Deep is an exquisite and powerful liquid reminder to protect, preserve, and rewild the World's marine ecosystems. Inspired by an expedition led by Parley for the Oceans, Talisker’s partner in ocean conservation, this exceptionally well-aged Whisky (the oldest Talisker to date) was matured using cask staves that joined the expedition to ‘The Great African Sea Forest’ near the Cape of Good Hope. After soaking up some of that fresh sea breeze, the staves were charred using a small amount of sustainably-sourced Scottish sea kelp and stave wood shavings, before finishing the Whisky's maturation journey.

The resulting juice reaches new depths of flavor, combining enticing aromas and sweet, smoky maritime accents with a wonderfully oily-smooth texture and umami-rich taste.

Whisky distilling goes way back to 1494 when the first recorded batch was made by a posse of monks who acquired about 60 gallons of barley and decided to turn it into "aqua vitae". They created the first 1,500 bottles of Scotch in History.
Beer and malt Whisky seem to have quite a bit in common. Both drinks begin with malted barley, which deliver the enzymes and sugars needed for fermentation when steeped in hot water. The two go their separate ways at the wash stage, where they're fermented or aged to become the adult beverages you know and love.
Whisky or Whiskey? The spelling differs geographically. In Scotland, Japan, and some other parts of the world, distilleries usually spell it Whisky; in Ireland and the USA, they spell it Whiskey.
First-class Whiskies are taxed not only by the state but also by the angels. This refers to the 4% of Whisky that evaporates from the barrels every year, a phenomenon known as the angel’s share.
90% of all Scotch Whisky released in the market is a blend. That’s a hell of a lot.
Blended Whiskies are the result of years of craftsmanship and dedication. A master blender does not simply wake up one day with a profound ability to create a cohesive and enjoyable liquid. From nosing the liquid to working out quantities of each different grain and malt to go into the blend, a master blender can take years, if not decades, to train.
