Top reviews for Talisker 18 Year Old:

— I would highly recommend Talisker 18. I've put quite a bit of thought into it, and really think it's the most balanced scotch I've ever had.

— Top notch!! Complex flavors mesh together well with this 18 year moderate peat scotch dram. Great for bourbon/whiskey lovers to transition to peated scotch.

— Haven't tried too many scotches, tend to be a Spey/Highland fan. I've tried some Islays and they're not my favorite. I feel like this is a great in betweener. Brings the perfect amount of smoke on the finish. Sweet peaty nose with nothing overpowering; all blends well together. It's probably my favorite scotch at the moment, but I only got a dram or two as it was a gift for someone else. It's out of my regular price range to keep this one stocked. Definitely something I'd treat myself with eventually though.

Nick,
Excellent dram! Orange and lemon, burnt toffee, gentle smoke, sea spray, light pepper, and a liquorice finish. Well balanced! Good value here and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this one!

Stephen
Stephen,
Nice party drink.

Tyler
Tyler,
My first big impression was candied orange and ginger. The peat is more of a sigh than a shout. Glazed ham, pepper, fennel, and spicy gingersnap cookies round out the flavor. The lingering note is the orange and spice. The whisky is not overly sweet, but is reminiscent of the rich, sweet food around Christmas time.

Fantastic. Very well balanced. Lightly smoked, nice blend of pepper and fruit and finishing with a bit of saltiness One of my favorites!

John,
Of all the scotches from Scotland I’ve had to taste, I had to taste this one...... now I’m spoiled for all others. A very tasty and flavorful scotch and then comes the fabulous finish...... by far my favorite drink, let alone scotch....

Holy mother...what a dram! Salt, smoke (but not too much), dark fruit, pepper, leather, caramel....all in beautiful, beautiful complex harmony. Brilliant.

This was a present, but I got to taste. Love the smooth, rich, just a touch of peat with good spice. I love the thick mouth feel.

I was initially unimpressed by this bottle. Considering the price and reputation, that was a disappointment. However, after trying it again (and again, and again...) I am struck by the subtlety and smoothness.

Amazing. Complex, yet smooth. Meant exclusively for sipping and savoring.

Alex
Alex,
Fantastic scotch - the classic salty Talisker flavor, but smoother and with a bit more complex notes to it (especially notice the caramel)

Dennis
Dennis,
A shining example of how extra maturation turns a great scotch into an exceptional dram. The spiciness and peaty smoke that makes the 10-year so distinctive is now subdued and refined, allowing sweet citrus and caramel notes to blossom on the palate, but still retains that peat finish that slowly lingers off the tongue. This is not a scotch for those that would like a less harsh Talisker. This is a reward for those who enjoy Talisker at its core.

Lauren
Lauren,
Delicious. Still has that unique Talisker flavor, but smooth AF.

Stephen,
Think - Talisker 10 - but less harsh. This is a fantastic scotch for those who do not like overwhelming peat and smoke. The nose has caramel and vanilla notes with a spicy-fruity incense. The taste is sweet and spicy up front, and then hints of peat and salt come through. The mouthfeel definitely lasts in this one! And the smoke is just barely there. If you have the budget, Talisker 18 is definitely worth the price.
