Top reviews for Green Spot Chateau Montelena Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey:
― You can smell the oak and vanilla and if you pay attention you can catch the red apple in it too. I enjoyed this one and wouldn’t mind having a bottle on my shelf
― Very pleasant and quite drinkable. Loaded with complexity. Rounded and elegant, everything is well integrated. The wine barrel aging lends this a bit of a Cognac note that serves as a lovely juxtaposition to the whiskey, giving it tremendous depth. Some whiskeys can be engaging and interesting but tough to drink. This is not one of those. This one is a pleasure to drink. A mix of fruit notes carries through from the nose into the mouth along with oak and its accompanying vanilla character, some sweetness in the finish. I get the mentioned marshmallow more in the mouth and immediate finish, then that fades to a sort of oaky character that lingers. For me, from the advent calendar this year, this one has been the best so far out of the 9 that we've had thus far. Nice one.
