Reviews and Tasting Notes

Appearance / Color
Dark amber.

Smell / Nose / Aroma
Slightly spicy nose, toffee apples, ripe autumn fruits combined with red berry sharpness. Some golden syrup sweetness and an interesting yeasty note. Adding water brings up sweet chestnut and a whiff of smoke.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
Sweet then slowly drying. Fresh fruit with spicy top notes. Rich on the palate with that nuttiness and vanilla, dried fruits and the yeast from the nose has become more biscuit like.

Finish
Dry departure. Pears and whole grain biscuits, then delicately spiced with notes of cinnamon and a breath of anise seed.

— Absolutely delicious Malt with a great all round balance of hint of smoke to sweetness of honey and none of that heavy Peatiness. Only problem I have is putting the lid back on it for any length of time.

— Amazing.

— Had a dram in Inverness. Really enjoyed it. Full and rich. Drank with just a little dab of water.

Seth
Seth,
Sweet and light. Strong hints of fruit. Smooth and easy to drink.

Matthew
Matthew,
Very, very smooth and easy to drink. Ever-so slight hints of peat, but light sweetness as well.

Thomas
Thomas,
A solid scotch but not one I would add to my cabinet. Smooth at first with a slight bite that I did not expect given the 40% ABV. The anise definitely comes through but not in a pleasurable way, a bit of a mouth numbing affect. A few drops of water to open it up seemed to amplify this affect.

Gordon
Gordon,
Fruity notes to begin but quickly fades into a sharp spice flavor. Spice flavors over power everything else in the end. OK whisky, but much better out there.

James
James,
Surprisingly good Scotch from less well known distillery. Couldn't stop until complete.

Jeremy
Jeremy,
After the Tamdhu, this was felt like a skyscraper in my mouth compared to a beautiful cottage tucked in a sea of rolling hills. It was good, don't get me wrong. Just more of a hard flavor profile. It hits your taste buds hard. Vaguely spicy. A little rubbing alcohol. But good. Just not as good as the Tamdhu.

Cory
Cory,
Smooth, woody with a little bit of spice.

Scott
Scott,
Like they say in the description - balanced. My wife and I didn't find it quite as smooth or quite as interesting as the other two whiskies in the Speyside tasting set.

Andrew
Andrew,
Excellent! Spice up front on the palate transitioning quickly to sweet fruits.

Not really my cup of tea! It is by no means a disappointment. Just not for me...

Solid scotch, little sweet, little smoke with an excellent lasting finish. Good overall, recommended for novice to experienced scotch drinkers who like balance.

Bob
Bob,
Nice balanced dram. Not overpowering on smokiness and low to no peatiness - a plus for me.

A bit of burnt sugar on the nose. Quick finish but a smooth sip.

Zbigniew,
The nose detects a sweet smoke, the eyes see a beautiful ember color. Now let's see what the taste pallet senses. Beautiful sweet start with a nice berry finish. Defenitly a whisky you can sip on at any time of thr year.

Aaron

Very smooth finish, loved to sip this by the fire on a cold winter evening!!

Not a fan of the front end sort of a buttery taste, but smooth.

Bright toffee, peppery bite, sharp, apricot. Very middle of the road and easy drinking.
