SINGLE OAK PROJECT

The Single Oak Project was an experiment conducted by Buffalo Trace Distillery. They put together a series of single casks with unique specifications. It took four years to produce 192 different Bourbon combinations.

They solicited 5,000 reviews of these combinations. Their product formula — the combination in barrel #80 A “rye recipe Bourbon,"  was barreled in oak casks harvested from the bottom half of the tree, with staves, and seasoned for 12 months.

The grain size of the wood is considered average, and the barrel received a number four char inside. The Whiskey entered the barrel at 125 proof, and was "aged in a concrete floor warehouse.” They are now making this Bourbon and the first release is expected in the year 2025.
