Setting the bar high for Ryes everywhere.
Everybody knows the grandma is always the most badass person in the family and it was no different in the Sextro family. In 1932, the Sextro family welcomed a bootlegger in the attic of their family farm in Carroll County. He taught Lorine Sextro to distill and that’s how Lorine distilled her first small-batch 100% Rye Whiskey. It wasn’t until the 1980’s that she revealed her bootlegging past and her secret Rye recipe to her family friend. In 2015, Sextro Rye Red Label began producing Whiskeys with Grandma Lorine’s secret recipe and Prohibition distilling methods. Even her children had no idea! In 2017, her grandson joined the business after learning about it in the news.
Sextro Rye Red Label is distilled in a patented, 1920s style copper pot still. Made from 100% natural ingredients that come from Carroll and Crawford County in Iowa, this handmade Rye respects the Sextro family tradition. After maturing for 2 years in a charred American oak barrel, the liquid is transferred to a second barrel where it’s finished to perfection. The amazingly smooth flavors of vanilla and caramel mingle on the fruity and sweet flavor profile and set the bar high for traditional Iowa Rye. Savor over ice, neat, or in a traditional cocktail.
*Iowa Red Label Legendary Rye has recently changed their labels to Sextro Rye Red Label, and as the original labels are being phased out, there is still a chance that you might receive a bottle different than what is pictured. But rest assured, the liquid remains the same, regardless of the label.
