No compromises.

Schladerer is a household name in the fruit Brandy game with a story that spans across two centuries. And what a story it is. Since 1844 the family-run distillery from Staufen, Germany has been distilling the finest fruit available to produce a variety of delicious Brandies that impress fans and critics alike. As it happens, Schladerer is all about quality. Quality of fruit and quality of craft. If you combine that with tradition, family values and the perfect Black Forest environment you get some basic tapestry of what makes this one of the world’s most eminent Spirit brands.

But Schlederer is so much more than just another brand. It’s a symbol of passion. Passion for the art of distilling that the Schladerer family has poured into its products since square one and then on from generation to generation. To this day this is still a family business. That’s the way they like it, that’s the way we like it. Because, let’s face it - when it comes to fruit Brandy – or Eau de Vie, Schnaps, whatever you want to call it – it doesn’t get much better than this. No pretentious marketing and no fancy industrial equipment to please mass production. They don’t lower their standards. They still stand by the good old, handcraft techniques that their forbearers introduced and we can only hope they continue to do so.

You only need to take a sip of one of their products to taste, heck, feel what we’re talking about. Schladerer Plum Brandy is made from locally grown, carefully picked plums, which are masterfully distilled, making sure for a tasty and balanced Spirit that any true Slivovitz (as plum Brandy is known in some parts of Europe) aficionado will thoroughly enjoy. Bottled at 42% ABV, it runs warm on the nose and the palate. The fact that they only use the best zwetschge plums from Baden is an indication of how things are done at Schladerer. They don’t compromise at any point of the production process, and the results are here for everyone to see.

Prost!

Brandies can help digestion, so they are perfect after meals. They were and are still considered medicine. Basically, any fruit that can be fermented can be distilled and turned into Brandy.
Nevertheless, the best Brandies are required to preserve the concentrated flavor of the used fruit.
Brandy was invented in the 16th century by a sneaky Dutch merchant who learned how to remove water from Wine and save cargo space. He then added water again and called it “Bradwijn”, which means “burned wine”.
