we got the pear in the nose and taste, and the pecan in the finish. All very subtle. Our nephew liked this one a lot, my wife and I thought it lacked much character.
It is an outstanding, intense, Peated Beer Cask Finished Swiss Whisky that has an aromatic birth; while a complex & silky life leads to a long & bitter death with notes of oak & char.
This surprised me , i don't normally like peated whiskey but this came as part of a tasting kit and it changed my mind .. it's more peated than any previous whiskey I had but it also packed alot more flavour and lasted a long time in the mouth , great nose to , smooth and defo a sipping whiskey
Was I drinking brandy and smoking the pipe or drinking an Islay malt in the vineyard? I couldn't decide so I sampled again.. and again, then I couldn't speak (forgetting the cask strength there). I certainly enjoyed it, a great one to 'discuss'.
Very sweet, smoky nose, reminds me of glazed ham. The smoke almost overpowered the other flavors, but there is a bit of char and oak underneath. After I added an ice cube, I was able to detect a bit of vanilla and maybe just a hint of cherry sweetness. Although very interesting, and I will continue to try it to see if I discover other flavors, the smokiness just overwhelms everything else.
Really different taste, with strong beer notes, not something I'd drink much but a valuable addition to the collection. The sweetness can come across as cheap and flavoured but it's quelled with a couple of ice cubes.
If you are grillin’ this is your whiskey! This was fun, surprising and flavorful. The smokiness if this peated whiskey was almost overwhelming, yet fully enjoyable. I will be looking for this bottle.
This is the first smoky whiskey that has my tastebuds dancing because the smokiness fades politely instead of turning into campfire ash. It has such a nice finish and is very well balanced. The vanilla notes play a nice complement.
It's not fair to underrate this excellent nectar with single one starred review. So, let's upgrade those stars. I can give it with no reservations 9+ as it is really nicely balanced, smooth and comfortable. Well done job.
I guess from reading other reviews, this goes to show you just how different each of our palates truly are. Also confirms that whisky is a matter of personal preference. I would give this close to a PERFECT score (9.7/10). I absolutely LOVED IT....never tasted anything quite like it. I have seen "Smoked Ham" in the reviews ... however, for me, it was more like "Smoked Salmon" (which oddly enough, I am not even a huge Salmon fan). My guess is that the two would pair amazingly well.
Very distasteful and difficult to get the taste out of your mouth. So thankful I only tried the sample. I took one sip, let it sit, and drank it. It was disgusting. Smells bad and tastes worse.
Its easy to see what they are trying to do - but it doesn't work. Beer cask whiskey just isn't my thing. This tastes like the stuff you drink just to get drunk.
Wow! This is probably the most interesting whisky I’ve ever had. Was not expecting the burnt maple bacon flavor. Had this during a whisky tasting and this was the one everyone is still talking about. I’m going to get a bottle to serve at the next tasting just for fun.
Mind blowing! I've never had my tastebuds be more completely speechless! Definitely, a treat sipper. A glass-a-do-ya kind of fun. It's a love it or hate it. I love it simplify for the abstract explosion of tastebud awareness! Tastebuds are 100% at attention! I can see this becoming a whole new level of exploratory expansion to the home bar!
Started off nicely but the more I had the more it started to taste like I was drinking liquid barbecue chicken, which can be good or bad depending on what you are looking for. Not something I would get again.
Terrible. Maybe just not my cup of tea but I don’t know how anyone could enjoy this. Tasted like eating campfire ashes... no other notes just straight ash. Even the nose is just campfire. Never again.
Wow. Tried this first in the "Oh dear, it's beer" tasting box thinking I'd like the others best and save them for last. Couldn't have been more wrong! The star of the show! This swissky has made it into my top 5
Routhless reviews for a great whisky that really begs for more. In my opinion a great drink for a steak diner or a night out with friends. I invite anyone to enjoy a taste of this heavenly whisky
Tasted more like char/firewood smoke to me than anything, and totally overwhelmed the other flavors. As a lover of all things smokey and peated, I was surprised to find I just couldn’t drink it.
