Ahh, the Welcome Box. La grande entrée into the world of fine Spirits. A paragon of good taste and a grand announcement of your membership journey with Flaviar. Once savored, there’s no turning back—you stay in Wonderland, and we show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. It’s bound to change the way you taste.
When picking the right Spirit for the job, Whisk(e)y becamethe obvious choice. It’s a charming and sly devil that fires on all cylinders when it hits your lips, and it slides down smoother than Don Juan’s most successful pickup lines. The perfect entry into the world of fine Spirits.
There are many countries capable of making excellent Whisk(e)y and eventually, you’ll get to know them all. But for now, the holy trio will kickstart your journey of spiritual enlightenment. Not all Spirits we are necessarily established, but they are all worthy and personify the Flaviar creed.
You’ll start by getting a taste of some real sugar straight from a young prodigy distillery that’s already earned quite a few stripes—Breckenridge. Their Bourbon is their signature product and it sets the bar sky high for all blended spirits, so ready your rockets.
Now, let’s make a giant leap for mankind and head all the way across the pond to the U.S.. FEW Rye Whiskey heralds the renaissance of Rye. Aye, Rye is making a comeback and we found one that’s young, fierce yet really smooth around the edges. It fits this Box like a glove.
But to really know Whisky you’ve got to go back to the roots… Scotch. Wolfburn is a Highland Scotch from the northernmost mainland distillery. We love it and so will you. But beware—you might love it too much!
And with that, ladies and gents: Slàinte & Cheers!
SmartAss Corner
1. If you can’t take the heat, well… make some Bourbon. Temps inside American warehouses are much higher than in other Whisky-making regions, so the pace of maturation for a Bourbon is much faster than, say, for a Scotch Whisky.
2) What separates a Bourbon from the rest of the Whiskies? Well…
It has to be made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn.
It must be distilled to no more than 80% ABV and entered into the barrel for aging at no more than 62.5% ABV.
It must be aged in a brand-new, charred white oak barrel.
It has to be be matured—even if it’s only briefly. If a bottle does not bear an age, it’s at least four years old. If it’s been aged for a minimum of two years and does not have any added coloring, flavoring or other spirits, it may be called straight Bourbon.
Bourbon that has an age stated on its label must be labeled with the age of the youngest Whiskey in the bottle.
It must be bottled at 40% ABV or more.
3) The craft Bourbon boom is very real. The number of craft distilleries in the U.S. exploded from around 50 to well over 1,000 in just ten years.
4) Seems like wealthy tycoons John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie knew how to take a joke. During one Christmas exchange, Carnegie sent a fine Whiskey to Rockefeller—a devout baptist who had given up drinking.
5) Rye—think of it as Bourbon's edgier, spicier cousin (you know the one… ahem). It’s known for imparting what many call a spicy or fruity flavor to the Whiskey. Rye (distilled from at least 51% Rye), is not very sweet and tends to have a spicier body. That’s why your Rye cocktail tastes a bit drier than it’s Bourbon counterpart.
6) Evanston, Illinois—the home of the Temperance Movement—remained dry for over a century. You can thank the master distiller at FEW for overturning those laws and becoming the city’s first distiller of grain spirits. Someone start working on a statue of this man, ASAP.
7) Rocky Mountain… high? Yep. Breckenridge Distillery is located at an altitude of 9600 feet in the Rocky Mountains, high enough to earn it the title of “World’s Highest Distillery.” And yes, we’re pretty sure that the irony was intended.
8) When it comes to welcoming people, Tibetan monks stick their tongue out. But in the U.S., it’s probably a good idea to leave that behavior to the toddler set.
9) What’s in a name? When it comes to Whisky (or Whiskey), turns out it’s quite a bit. The spelling differs geographically. Countries that have E's in their names (like the United States and Ireland) tend to spell it WhiskEy. Countries without E’s in their names (like Canada, Scotland and Japan) spell it Whisky. Hope that clears a few things up.
10) Nikola Tesla was convinced that if he drank Whisky every day, he’d live to be 150. Hey, no harm in trying.

Varinia,
Very nice sample box. Enjoyed tasting the differences in all thee🤓
Wilfredo,
The scotch wasn’t for me but the bourbon was nice
Charley,
Few was the best one. The Scotch was decent. The Breckinridge was too floral in my mind.
Steven,
The bourbon is very good. The scotch is good very smoky. The rye whiskey was a little difficult perhaps the rye is not for me
James,
Breckinridge was nice, Few is definitely a possible but didn’t care much for scotch
Brian,
The bourbon and Rye were enjoyable and delivered a nice experience. The single malt was not to my liking.
Cathleen,
This was a fathers day gift..... the choices for welcome kits was not in my wheelhouse..... so ended up with a bourbon that was ok, the rye and scotch were just not to my liking..... hope the next samples are more of what I enjoy....... Speyside single malts....
Justin,
Great starting tasting. This was a perfect birthday gift from my wife
John,
Very good mix of sample whiskeys. Especially liked the Wolfburn
Christian,
Lots of smooth flavor
Diane,
I don’t like bourbons at all... I didn’t drink them. I wish i would of had a choice of liquor to try. I would of chose tequila or rum.
David,
Breckinridge was boring and had a slight nail polish taste to it at first. Didn’t like it compared to other bourbons for the price. I actually got the Few Rye and I liked it. Which usually I’m not a rye guy. The scotch was good enough but not one I would buy over others.
John,
The Breckinridge was the best of this lot. I probably would have rated this box higher but the FEW Rye wasn’t including in my box; I got something called, Copperfox, which wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t buy. I have a bottle of FEW straight bourbon, which I really like so not having their Rye in this box was disappointing.
Cameron,
Not bad, nothing quite stood out though. Will not he going back for more of any of these. Wish I could’ve chosen welcome tasting box.
Side note: didn’t even get the Few Rye, which happened to be the one I was looking forward to. Instead got Copper Fox... not bad, but again nothing special.
Robert,
Breckinridge Bourbon - floral with vanilla, end dried fruit - short finish
Few Rye - citrus, vanilla, grass and cinnamon- finish was spice/bitter longer mouth feel
Wolfburn Aurora - smoke, blue cheese, earthy, light orange - finish spicy lingers
Few Rye was probably my favorite of this box, Wolfburn was nice surprise, Breckinridge is lightest of the group. Overall nice box.
Clayton,
I am typically a scotch guy, but not when it is too peaty. I found the wolf burn to be very peaty and young drink. Few was a nice Rye with smooth flavor. Breckinridge had a pleasant sweetness. Very good intro to Flaviar.
Joshua,
The scotch was by far the best. The bourbon... not so much. The banana flavor was too strong for me.
John,
Wow. The Scott is terrific.
Zack,
The Breckinridge is hands down the best of this bundle
David,
The rye was excellent- the bourbon was OK but not memorable. I like single malt scotch but Wolfburn is too peaty and smoky for my taste
Matthew,
Very good entry. I’m typically a bourbon guy but the rye stole this show. I confirmed that I don’t like Scotch.
John,
Liked it. The Rye was my favorite
Russ,
Great introduction to Flaviar. Wolfburn is smoky but not overpowering. Breckinridge has a nice bite at the end and pretty smooth nose and palette. Few, though, stole the show for us. I am a rye guy anyway, but my father-in-law was blown away. Overall, we would spend the money on Few, and drink the others, if offered.
Lisa,
Breckenridge was by far my favorite of this box. I quickly discovered I am definitely not a fan of rye whiskey, as the FEW left a horrible aftertaste in my mouth. Wolfburn was also very smooth and tasty, so overall, I enjoyed this box very much and learned a few things along the way.
Josh,
FEW is a horrible bourbon with a bad alcohol taste. Breckinridge was okay but nothing special. Th scotch was good and the only reason I went three stars over one.
Joseph,
I’m not a fan of scotch but it is very good. Few Rye is as good as it gets. I enjoyed Breckinridge bourbon. Very tasty
Zack,
This was a great introduction to Flaviar.
John,
Of the three samples the Brekenridge was my favorite. The Few brand rye was too harsh for me. The single malt was to smoky leather tasting.
Justtin,
Was a good mix of different darks. For my first box, was a good presentation of new alcohols.
Jeff,
Superb! Especially Wolfburn.
Charles,
I really enjoyed B but A & C were lacking for me.
Jason,
I loved the box, it has broadened my taste horizons.
Timothy,
The scotch was very peaty, I enjoyed the Rye and bourbon very much!
RAJESH,
Two thirds of the samples were outside my preference of types. Did not enjoy
Bethany,
The flavor profiles were interesting. I preferred the Scottish whiskey over all.
TERRENCE,
I really wanted to be impressed by this box, given it was all stuff I enjoy drinking. But I thought all three of them just tasted... not quite right. Not balanced properly, and all three were kind of harsh to my palate. Not very smooth at all.
David,
My first package from Flaviar and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've enjoyed Breckenridge in the past and was happy to have it again. The Few Rye was also enjoyable. The scotch reminded me why I'm a bourbon guy - it's just not my thing. However, it was my son's favorite... We're a well-rounded family!
Bryce,
The tasting kit is awesome! The Breckinridge Bourbon was really solid bourbon and would buy a bottle. The few rye was a solid rye as well, would be awesome in a old fashion. The scotch is a highland and I am not the biggest fan of that region so for me it was okay. Overall it was a great experience!
Joel,
So far tried the Breckinridge... very smooth up front with a little spice snap of finish...
Anthony,
So far I've only had the Few Rye but it was very nice. Smooth upfront and spicy at the end
Douglas,
Wasn’t impressed
Samuel,
Bourbon was meh, might need to come back to it another time. The rye was pleasant, smooth and full of malty-caramel notes and a honey finish. The scotch was mildly smoky with a finish of vanilla and malt. I would buy the rye and scotch at this time. 7 stars for 2/3 spirits I liked, and +1 for the scotch cause I am curious to try other highland scotches in the future!
Duane,
Not great! Didn't like any of them. Would like to see more classic bourbon options.
Greg,
The FEW was okay. The rest Breckenridge and Wolfburn were horrible.
Preston,
Wasn’t a big fan of the rye the other two were nice
shawn,
Yuck
Nick,
Really enjoyed the Breckenridge - very nice surprise. The Few was next best, the Wolfburn didn’t land.
Douglas,
I really enjoyed the Breckenridge bourbon and the Few rye whiskey. I am not a fan of the Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskey.
Don,
Not a fan of any of the spirits in this box. Bad taste and aftertaste. Would not recommend.
Nicholas,
Some very good tastes in this box. Not a Scotch lover, but the Breckenridge Bourbon and Few Rye really are a great combo.
Nathan,
The Breckenridge was really good, smooth, slightly sweet with char and a nice finish. I did not like the Few Rye as it was too peppery for me. The Highland Scotch was nice but heavy on the smokey flavor.
John,
I really likes the bourbon and the rye. The scotch was too advanced for my palate.
Jenni,
Huge fan of the Breckenridge, very smooth for an American Whiskey. The Wolfburn was great, a classic product of Scotland. I was not crazy about the F.E.W.
Christopher,
Great selection of scotch and whiskey. The FEW Is a great and easy to drink.
Justin,
The Breckinridge was good but lacked the complexity I look for in a bourbon. The Few straight rye was a nice surprise. I’m usually not a straight rye whiskey drinker. I enjoyed that one. The scotch was not my lane.
David,
Decent mix. -nothing stands out but all are solid.
Craig,
Not bad. Not crazy about Few
Bradley,
My first tasting round but loved it.
Michael,
I enjoyed the FEW Rye
Breckenridge is ok; little alchol on the nose but nice finsih
Wolfburn is not my thing; i guess smokey scotch is no longer a taste profile I love any more :(
Wes,
The scotch was disgusting, the two whiskeys I would drink again. This was my first box and enjoyed overall experience.
Gary,
Great selection with a diverse tasting spectrum!
Andy,
Not a big fan of the bourbon or rye. The scotch was quite nice.
Joanne,
Nice! Loved the Wolfburn!
John,
Good diverse box, preferred the Wolfburn
Frank,
Breckenridge was quite nice in overall flavor profile and smoothness and took my top spot. The Wolfburn was interesting with a good balance although I prefer the heavier peated and more smokey favor of some other scotches. Few Rye came in last but it was nice to try that in the backdrop of the bourbon and scotch.
Bryan,
The rye was the only interesting flavor. The scotch didn’t do it for me, I like a lot of peat, and this one’s peat tasted more dirt than peat. The bourbon was a bit bland. But Few rye was my favorite.
J.,
Good start
Lori,
The wolf burn wasn’t my thing , that peaty smoke flavor .... the Few Rye was a solid tasting but my favorite was the Breckinridge bourbon.
Cory,
I’m a pretty big bourbon fan, and thoroughly enjoy rye drinks. The rye was not very good to me, the bourbon was quite average. It seemed flat, as in it didn’t have a lot of definitive flavor. I’m not an expert by ANY means. However, I normally do not like scotch, and the Wolfburn was very nice. I was able to taste the flavors, and it changed as I drank it which was fun.
Abbi,
Really great combination of bourbon, rye , and scotch. I enjoyed all three a lot! If I had to choose, it would be between the Breckenridge and Wolfburn. Awesome trio.
Maria,
This box had a nice selection. Breckinridge was my favorite out of all three followed by Wolfburn and then Few.
Grant,
A nice variety and 2/3 I hadn’t had before, all great but Breckinridge takes the cake.
Francilia,
No way
Modesto,
Breckenridge was definitely the best of the three, I’d give it a 3/5. Wolfburn also gets a 3/5, and Few got a 1 from me.
Stefan,
Breckenridge Bourbon was our favorite, closely followed by Few RyeWhiskey, and distant third Wolfburn Scotch.
Benjamin,
Of these three the Few rye whisky was my favorite. Followed by the Breckenridge bourbon. Thankful I tasted the Wolfburn scotch in this sampler as it was my least favorite. I would not have wanted to drink a full bottle of it.
scott,
Breckinridge was great. The other two are like gasoline. Disgusting.
Chris,
Not really a fan of any of the three, although I certainly enjoy other bourbons, ryes and scotch. Maybe caught me on the front edge of a cold or some other excuse, but I was very disappointed with the selection, as was my tasting cohort. Only the Rye rose a bit above, but I’d not seek it out again
Robert,
An excellent introduction to Flaviar and a much enjoyed tasting trio! Looking forward to many more delightful nights with Flaviar spirits.
Jorge,
Nice mix of sips that I not necessarily pursue. Some common traces in all three spirits and some contrasting notes. Great way to put together a box!!!
Ryan,
So fun to try some tastes we haven’t before
Anthony,
Nice mix of flavor.
Alex,
Awesome
John,
Enjoyed the rye
Julianne,
Good spread of different types of whiskey. Liked the scotch best.
Todd,
Good, smooth and a little sweet.
Dale,
The Breckinridge was very smooth with a long, pleasant aftertaste. I enjoyed the honey, toasted, vanilla notes but I still have some things to learn about sniffing and tasting all the complexities.
FEW was nice, and I loved the honey and caramel. Spicy, pepper gave it a little more of a bite.
The Wolfburn. Hmm - I have never been one to like scotch, but I’ll keep trying. This one was not “it” for me at all. I didn’t care for the smoky, peaty tastes.
Paul,
My husband and I were pleased with this welcome box. We’re excited about tasting more.
Natasha,
Wasn’t really impressed with the box. Hoping something better comes along.
William,
I'm a scotch drinker. Rye and bourbon are ok for some but not my preference. Hopefully, I will be able to direct my tastings going forward.
Eric,
Great example of each very different blend. Nothing that blew my mind, but nice starter.
Joshua,
Hey
Rhesa,
A nice variety!
Gary,
Not a bad selection.
Thomas,
Highly enjoyable selections.
Joy,
Nice variety and good selections.
Jeremy,
A respectable trio of differing tastes. If you move from A-C it feels like you’ve moved from good, better, then best, with the Scotch being the the high “light” you don’t expect from a Highlands Single Malt Scotch. Thoroughly enjoyed the welcome box.
Nathaniel,
the wolfburn was magic. I need to buy a bottle of the wolfburn before it gets to expensive.
Brandon,
Scotch was good but not my favorite. The Breckinridge was good, a solid 7-7.5 and the Few whiskey was a good 7. Both good sipping whiskey. Maybe for a glass or two, no more.
Nurlifitri,
Not my favorite!
It burn my throat and it’s hard to drink.
Michael,
These three samples were all very smooth and easy to drink, neither steller or disappointing. Kind of like the training bra of the whiskeys.
Michael,
Excellent way to start my Flaviar experience! Really solid selections. Loved the bourbon and whiskey. The jury is still out on the scotch, but the experience is great! I can’t wait to come back to them tomorrow night.
Michael,
I loved the experience, though whiskey is arguably my least favorite kind of spirit.
Jacob,
Solid picks. They cover all ends of the spectrum. Tested myself to see if I could pick the difference between whiskey, bourbon, and scotch. Overall great pours.
Jason,
Good selection to compare. One of the selections was better than I expected. Going to buy a bottle.
Justin,
It was a great welcome box! Wolf burn scotch was my favorite
John,
My kinda bourbon.
Billy,
whiskey. Really enjoyed the few. It was a great eye whiskey.
Billy,
I really enjoyed the few. Great rye wiskey.
James,
Nice
Gary,
I really enjoyed the Breckenridge. I'm more of a rye drinker but the Breck was so smooth and mellow. Few was rather strident but drinkable. The Wolfburn for me was, sorry, medicinal and a bit offensive.
Megan,
The Few and the Breck are great products. Not a big fan of the Wolfburn. I think had the Wolfburn aged further it would have been wonderful. Young Scotch is a bit much for me and I prefer a much more rich/wood/chocolate profile.
Carmen,
Nice and smooth loved it
Richard,
The Breckenridge was smooth. The "rye toast with honey" taste from Few is strong and expected. The Wolfburn definitely has a smoky, malt taste. Overall...good taste test.
Keith,
Ive had Breckinridge dozens of times. The rye is good. I’m not much for scotch
Timothy,
I was pleasantly surprised by all 3 samples and liked them all. Excellent way to introduce a uniquely new spirit from different categories and yummy for all. Breckenridge is the standout with Few right behind it. The Scotch was quite different but nice too.
Jordan,
Great way to be welcomed into an amazing, elegant spirits club.
CLEVELAND,
Great over all box. I loved the mix of all three samples. We are off to a good start!
Janine,
Great selection; whether they’re to your particular taste or not, all are quality drams. The Breckinridge is in my cart as I write this.
George,
Awesome rue
Robert,
loved the selections, shared with a couple friends.
Douglas,
The domestic samples were flat and left little impression. The Scottish sample was good with body, flavor and depth.
Debra,
Well rounded combination of flavors.
Alycia,
The box was good, nice to try things new
George,
Big fan of the Rye, was the best of the 3. Did not like the Scotch at all.
Terrell,
Not bad not a scotch fan!
Leah,
Lovely mix of flavors and was able to help expose me to 3 very popular spirits.
John,
Wolfburn - I am not a scotch guy at all. Normally scotch just burns and has no flavor. Wolfburn has flavor and I could taste the flavor in every sip.
Few - The night I tried Few we had spicy food for dinner and it paired really well. It had a distinct spicy kick at the end that was unexpected but was awesome.
Breckenridge - The short answer is I am buying a bottle ASAP. Breckenridge was fantastic and left an impression. It is a keeper and I will probably keep it in stock at home for the foreseeable future.
Colby,
Very enjoyable great liquor
Tom,
The Breckinridge is smooth as silk with a hint of vanilla. Yummy.
And if possible, the Few Rye is even smoother. The after bite hits a little sooner.
And the Wolfburn, not so smooth, tastes great. This was a great welcome box.
Trevor,
Great introduction to bourbon, whiskey and scotch. The scotch is WAY to far on the smoky side (not my favorite for a good scotch and night turn others off to scotch as a whole). The whiskey is solid, but the bourbon was OUTSTANDING in my opinion. The flavor spiral makes perfect sense as you let the liquid simmer in your mouth a little. Overall, a great start to my Flaviar experience.
Jonathan,
Great box to try the distinct bourbon, rye and scotch. Let me find that I prefer bourbon and rye and not a fan of scotch. Solid box for samplers.
Donna,
I would like to try more.
Donna,
Rye whiskey was good
Anthony,
The Rye is excellent, the whiskey is good and the scotch is awful.
James,
As a ‘single malt scotch’ drinker, I was pleasantly surprised by the rye whiskey. The wolfburn showed it’s lack of aging, and was a bit disappointing as a scotch.
Matt,
The Rye was awesome, the scotch not my thing.
Elizabeth,
The Breckenridge and the Few were both things I could see having in my bar. Both on the more vanilla/sweeter side in my mind. The Wolfburn was good but not my taste compared to the other two. The experience itself was fantastic!
Gail,
All were very good. The Scotch was our favorite
Eric,
Scotch was excellent, the others were good but nothing special.
Lucas,
Each whisk(e)y is nothing to write home about but the tasting box is great in its presentation of three types of very different drams. The bourbon is really sweet, the rye is very pungent, and the scotch is somewhat Smokey but refined. Three distinct flavors to compare.
Thomas,
Wolfburn phenomenally smooth for its age.
The bourbon was too sweet for my liking.
The Rye is surprisingly smooth and easy on the taste buds.
Richard,
Enjoyed them all. Scotch was my favorite.
Cale,
Received my box today and I love it! I can't quite decide which is better between the bourbon or scotch. The rye was the least favorite but not bad either. Glad to have something in the mail to look forward to.
Peter,
Scotch was my favorite, will definitely get a bottle
Roger,
I liked of the samples. The rye whiskey was a new one for me but it was great. I'm a bourbon man an all 3 samples was great.
Samir,
It is a good starter to know what you enjoy! I liked the Rye the best. The scotch had a great finish. The bourbon was a let down.
Orantes,
Great starter pack!
Brenton,
Nice variety of flavors. Good way to find out what style you like and do not. This pack goes from smooth and slightly sweet to earthy and smoky. I liked half the pack.
Todd,
The bourbon and whiskey were great, we weren’t fans of the scotch though. And I’m typically a bourbon fan but surprisingly enjoyed the rye more.
Stephen,
The scotch was fantastic.
Cody,
The bourbon and scotch were great but rye and I do not get along very well
Peyton,
The Rye was my Favorite by far. To me it had the most complex favor. The bourbon was very smooth just not a lot going on there. The scotch tasted like jet fuel, but you got a hint of smoke or coal after.
Bryan,
The Rye was not my favorite. but I’m not a huge fan of Ryes to begin with. The Scotch was amazing.
Brett,
The “few” had a bite, so i may not try again (I’m not a big Rye fan anyway). The Breckinridge was nice, smooth so i will look for it in the future. The wolfburn was good with a hint of smoke and smooth. I’ll keep my eye out for this one. It was my first box but a hell of way to start. Looking forward to the next one!
Chris,
Not good. I think I am a scotch person.
Lourdes,
I loved the selection. I have already ordered the Breckenridge and will soon place an order for the Few. They were all smooth and enjoyable.
Scott,
An excellent introduction to the wonderful world of rye..:-)!
Robert,
This was a great box for the first one I received. The only one I have not tasted out of it yet is the scotch. I’m waiting too taste that when I get a good cigar. Well worth the money. It is great that you can get full bottles from the site as well and not have to go out searching for the ones you liked when you tasted them.
Jesse,
It was fun to have my 1st sample and try all three
Todd,
Really enjoyed this, was surprised to find that the smokiness of the wolfburn wasn’t too much, as I don’t love the smokier whiskies. Breckinridge was lovely and the Few would be a great one for classic cocktails.
Mathew,
FEW was the only one that was good. I really liked the honey finish on it and it was very smooth. The Breck bourbon was not the smoothest. The burn of alcohol made it hard to pinpoint specific flavors. The scotch in this box was very smokey. It was the only flavor I could taste in it.
Angela,
Few Rye whiskey was definitely my favorite, but I tend to lean towards Rye's anyway. Wolfburn Scotch was second to the rye. It had enough smokiness and nuttiness to make it interesting and was light enough to sip on with ease. Breckenridge was my least favorite being pretty bland and lacking much character in my opinion. I like for my whiskeys to have something to say and felt the scotch and bourbon were pretty quiet and reserved.
Joseph,
Underwhelming
Denis,
Scotch is amazing. Another one is okay.
Bryan,
Great starter kit... loved how it was 3 completely different whiskeys and the amount of each was perfect for sampling being I’m new to this. Definitely can’t wait for the next samples to try!
Jacob,
They were all drinkable but the only one that stood out was the Wolfburn which I really enjoyed.
Rebekah,
As a representative sample of their categories they are great examples. Each one is a good choice
Mark,
Excellent mix!
Richard,
Of the three I would have to go in this order... Few, Breckinridge, and Wolfburn. The Wolfburn I felt the smokiness and dark chocolate flavor stuck out while the other two were pleasant tasting.
Akash,
Nice array of bourbons! Lovely aroma and great taste
Keith,
I guess I’m way more of a Scotch fan than I thought. Wasn’t a fan of the Few at all. Way too medicinal tasting. The Wolfburn was probably my favorite of the 3, but still wouldn’t drink it again.
Collin,
Great sample of great whiskeys
Carole,
As a first sampling, I have to admit not bad at all. I liked the amount served as it was enough to give an appropriate taste of each. I enjoyed the Bourbon so far, and I have not tried the Scotch yet. I am excited for future deliveries and trying different tastings. The package delivered in is quite the enhancement of the experience as well.
Kenneth,
Enjoyed immensely
Thomas,
Was good. It no wow factor for an introductory box.
Matthew,
I’m new to truly “tasting” spirits, so this box was really good for me to start with. I was clearly able to taste the difference in the three types, they were in my beginning opinion ok, but I’m new so take it for what it’s worth. I did like the scotch, and the bourbon. The box it’s self was really cool! It was well packed, the tasting cards helped a lot, and taught me a bunch. Overall it’s a great start to a new world.
Alex,
Beautiful box which really adds to the experience. Enough whiskey in each vile for two people to share and feel pretty good at the end of the tasting of three.
Kevin,
Oddly, I found appeal to all the samples. I learned that I enjoy Rye, as my first go. The scotch was nice with a little bite, and the Bourbon had a bit of heat. I divy them out using a pipette, and encourage people to savor every attribute, as opposed to swilling it. I learned today...and it was good!
Scott,
Not the greatest.
Deven,
Tasty on the rocks, and finishes sweet.
Jim,
Well, not much a Bourbon, Whiskey, Scotch guy, however, did find like the rye whiskey and the bourbon, not so much the scotch. When it comes to these categories, I prefer the Irish whiskeys.
Did enjoy the rye though.
james,
Rye was a new discovery for me. A very interesting flavor profile.
James,
Was not a fan of the Scotch, but I’m a Bourbon and TN Whiskey guy to start.
Selena,
Perfect starting kit great intro to 3 different whiskeys all really good as well
Adison,
Good Starting Kit
Michael,
The bourbon and whiskey were good. The scotch was terrible in my opinion but I’m not much of a scotch drinker to begin with. I prefer bourbon.
G,
Meh... I think all whiskeys may need to sit a bit longer in their barrels to mellow out and gain some complexity.
I think I liked Few the best, but I’m biased towards rye. The Bourbon and the Scotch were quite grainy on the nose.
Overall, unfortunately for me, nothing memorable off the gate.
Let’s taste the next box.
Michael,
I enjoyed all three samples provided but my favorite was the Breckenridge Bourbon. Very smooth but still surprisingly complex. Very nicely packaged as well.
Steve,

Chelsea,
The scotch left a lot to be desired. It was very spicy and dry. The rye was very bitter. I’d use either as a mixer but by themselves they weren’t good for me. The bourbon was decent, I could taste some of the sweeter notes and a bit of the oak. It was more drinkable than the scotch or the rye.
Scott,
The scotch and rye were very tasty, the bourbon I'm still undecided. Regardless of my opinions, it's a great way to start the perfect bar at our ranch!
Scott,
Great start! Solid range of the spirits I love.
Donald,
I liked the bourbon a lot. The rye wasn't bad but the scotch wasn't that great.
Jeremy,
First time with rye - I like it a lot. And I was surprised by the scotch. I expected something different, but enjoyed it nonetheless. I’ve had Breckinridge before - it’s decent. Not my favorite. Overall I enjoyed the box!
Trent,
The bourbon wasn’t bad, but I did not like the scotch of rye at all. First time drinking rye whiskey so I might hate all of them not sure
Alejandro,
There’s a complexity to the Breckinridge whiskey that just makes me happy.
Corey,
Didn't like the scotch. I am not a straight whiskey drinker I prefer to mix 7-Up or make an old fashioned and both of the whiskeys in this box made for drinkable old fashioned.
Germond,
Good mixture of alcohol enjoyed it a lot
Ezra,
Thought all of them were pretty meh, with the exception of the scotch which was nasty.
Jose,
Package got to me quick, the packaging was pretty nice, surprisingly the Few Rye was my favorite, second was Breckinridge and last was the wolfburn
Erik,
Great selection, especially the rye and scotch
Timothy,
Very good variety of whiskies for an introductory box. My definite favorite was the Breckenridge, but I wasn’t too crazy about the smokiness of the Wolfburn.
Paul,
To begin, the packaging and entire process is pretty smart. Well done there. For the starting box, I loved them. My taste range varies from smooth to peaty. Each one was delicious and fun. I found myself making notes to look for these down the road.
Ryan,
Took a while to get here but when it did I was very happy with it. An excellent foray into learning my whiskies.
Jason,
The Brek was good to find. I typically don't like Rye and my dislike is confirmed. As for the Wolfburn, I think it should be called "Wofsbane" as the peatty taste and after taste must be similar to it. Excellent to learn from this box on what you like. Thank you.
James,
Solid welcome package that covers several expressions of whiskey. Next time I will have to pay attention and do the blind tasting as described in the notes.
Devin,
I appreciated the presentation of the tasting box. It gave a great first impression. The actual tasting was enjoyable as well. I liked the noticeable differences among all three samples.
PAUL,
I agree with previous comments that the only palatable beverage in this welcome box was the Breckinridge. That Wolfburn was the most horrible Scotch I’ve ever tasted, and the Few Rye was very meh...forgettable.
Presentation was nice, although it took forever to receive the welcome box.
I’m hoping for a better box next time
Thomas,
I liked the whole presentation of the box, unique gift from the wife. I am a bourbon fan so the Breckinridge was pretty good, not the best I’ve had but I would buy a bottle. The rye whiskey was okay, probably wouldn’t buy that one though. Last of all, not a fan of the scotch at all. I haven’t had it all that often but this one would be a no for me personally.
Kyle,
The Wolfburn and Breckenridge were really tasty. Overall a most excellent welcome box!
Stephen,
The two whiskies were good. Would absolutely buy the Breck. Wolfburn way too peaty for my taste.
Mike,
Nice variety of flavors.
Joshua,
The rye whiskey was good, a little young for my taste but the scotch was good and had a great earthy peat finish that I enjoyed
Mark,
It was a bit of a let down. I figured the first shipment would knock me out and hook me, but I'm left wondering if I should bail out..
Breckenridge was ok, the Few was nothing to write home about and the Wolfburn was less. I'm hoping for a better collection in my next round.
David,
I enjoyed every whiskey but feel a lingering desire for something more smoky
Dan,
The bourbon and scotch were solid sevens. The Breckenridge bourbon was nice on the nose and once it opened up had a decent yet unremarkable flavor - caramel, maple, slight clove. The Wolfburn was pleasant, the light character supported its young age. It was enjoyable. It was the Few rye that brought this box down. On its own I would score it a five. It lacked on the nose and in the taste. I am a fan of rye whiskies, but if this were an introduction to it and I didn’t know any better I’d probably steer away from rye.. The Few seems young and frankly not ready and it left reflected in taste. The poor quality lingered longer than I would have liked. Flaviar may want to reconsider using this as a welcome selection.
Aaron,
Liked 2 of the 3. The Wolfburn was gross.
Breanna,
Every bourbon that was selected was phenomenal. I can’t wait to receive my next two tasting boxes
Johnathan,
Not a big fan of any of these samples! The Few and Breckinridge weren’t bad but over priced for what they are. The wolfburn was unpleasant to say the least.
John,
I enjoyed two of the three in this package.
Bronwyn,
I loved the American whiskeys. The Scottish one for me was a little too peaty. Had a horrible after taste. The rest where great. Can’t wait for my next couple of boxes.
Michael,
• Breckenridge was rich, spicy, and flavorful. Would buy a bottle.
• Few smells amazing. You can really get essences of caramel and malted barely. Spicy enough for a rye whiskey. Warms the hearts.
Overall the welcome tasting got me excited to try all sorts of bottles here on Flaviar. Hoping to find me 8s, 9s, and 10s rated bottles in the months to come!
• Wolfburn was light and smoky. Love the name but looking for something bolder in a scotch.
Tim,
Great trio of whiskey
Michael,
Did not like any of the welcome box tastings. The Breckenridge was very sweet and medicine like. The Few was just sweet smelling and instantly burning on the tongue. The Wolfburn was sweet and peaty and the better of the three but not a good example of a Highland Single Malt.
Michelle,
New to tasting varieties so it was interesting. I don't want to say it was bad because all in all it wasn't. I love the packaging, coaster and tasting spirals. Shipping time I knew would take a little longer but was happy to see it show up on Valentine's day. Awesome timing. It's just me sampling, so there's plenty to try multiple taste tests for each kind. I enjoy learning to detect differing flavors and scents. Wolfburn was a bit too smoky and harsh for me. Few was nice with a caramel woody taste. Loved the honey banana taste of Breckenridge.
Jay,
I live in Colorado, so Breckinridge has a great reputation. That said, the Few is fantastic-love the caramel notes! I'm also a fan of peaty scotch, so this was a welcome introduction to the Wolfburn.
Jason,
Good mix of whiskeys.
Michael,
Nice sampling
Ernest,
Very well diverse and a Good horizon opener
Demi,
The Bourbon was unbearable but the scotch and ride whiskey was top notch!!!
Darren,
Meh, wasn’t a fan of the scotch.
Sean,
Enjoyed each one individually ...fantastic spread of whiskeys and look forward to more!
Todd,
The bourbon was as expected good. The scotch was a surprise. The rye meh.
Liz,
I enjoyed this first tasting box, consisting of Breckenridge Bourbon, Few Rye, and Wolfburn Scotch. We did a tasting with 3 friends, and enjoyed doing the blind tasting. The Breckenridge was the most loved by all. Nice finish, warm and fuzzy. Ready for more.
Mike,
Sample A was nice and smooth, good after taste,
Sample B Smooth, but a bit Oaky and stingy after taste.
Sample C was Scotch, Not a big fan, but was smooth.
Michael,
Hubby did like the Bourbons but not the gin.
Rachel,
The Rye and the bourbon are great. The scotch not so much.
Todd,
I enjoyed the Breckinridge and Few and found out I’m not a scotch guy. Overall a good selection.
Jon,
A good sampling. I liked the Breckenridge Bourbon the best. Not a fan of the scotch, especially the smoky finish. The Rye Whiskey was ok. Looking forward to tasting more.
David,
Loved these whisk(e)ys! Will be buying them soon!
Zak,
7.33/10 (2x 7's and 1x 8)
All three very good and drinkable. Breckenridge was smooth yet crisp, with a hint or orange flesh. Few had a silky mouth feel with notes of warm cream and chewy caramel. Wolfburn had a grassy aroma with notes of melted butter and a hint of peat.
Clint,
The Few rye was the only one I really liked.
Timothy,
Three unique flavors, I enjoyed each one.
Spencer,
Great tasting box. Not a huge fan of Few Rye Whiskey, but still a good selection to introduce you to Flaviar and different types of Bourbon, Whisky, and Whiskey. Really enjoyed the first tasting box. Excited for more.
Martell,
Very nice selection. The whiskeys win in this box... I’m from Colorado... so the brekenridge whiskey wins my pallet.
Arthur,
The Scotch was my least-favorite. I am usually a scotch drinker but the taste was a tad mild. I LOVE rye whiskey and the FEW was about as much rye as it gets. Bourbon was very nice and smooth- loved the banana nose!
Randall,
Smoother than most, especially enjoyed the Few Rye. The Breckinridge was also very good - will add to my home bar. Thanks - great start!
Jeremy,
I wasn’t on a fresh palate, had some Scotch first, and then realized the Whiskey is not as smooth and is much more harsh than the Scotch. Realized Rye isn’t my thing.
Christopher,
Eh, it was ok. Nothing to write home about.
Dillon,
I loved the bourbon- very smoky and smooth and a after taste of strawberry... the rye was good- VERY pepper and a good bite too it, but no after taste, after about 2 seconds the taste is gone making me not a big fan: as for scotch- not a fan what so ever, very harsh, it had a title bit of a earthy aroma and a nutty taste but just not what I expected from a scotch. The bourbon is the only bottle I would see my self buying again. The rye and scotch I would not see my self craving a drink of... but different strokes for different folks!
George,
Breck was spicy, Few was pretty good, not a scotch drinker but seemed like a decent scotch. Pretty good Welcome Kit!
J.R.,
👍🏽
Billy,
Liked it
Ryan,
Great box
Doug,
Was a good combination. I could tell which was which with out looking at the labels. The bourbon was smooth to drink. The rye I liked the least. The scotch was tasty and enjoyable. Wish I would have had more of each to test and compare.
Casey,
Learning I’m not a big fan of scotch. The Breckinridge bourbon was decent, but nothing standout.
The Few Rye however was incredible. Especially after leaving it breathe in the glass for 15 mins and drinking with a single ice cube. Deep notes of brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. All of the heat burns off when you let it open up, making it incredibly smooth. Highly recommended!
Matias,
Great start!
Ronnie,
Definitely looking forward to the next tasting. Each sample came with a background and it was spot on.
Randy,
Testing was a great experience
Melisa,
A good starter box, one of them was absolutely terrible though.
DUELLYN,
Fun!! Now that it arrived!
Wolfburn is as the title states—burn- almost tequila-ish on the finish.
Few -nice with a slight bite —great finish if you can stand the heat at the end of the chew.
Breckenridge- winner familiar traditional style. great over all definitely would purchase.
Douglas,
Pretty decent for a welcome box. The rye was my favorite. Probably the smoothest I’ve ever had.
Christopher,
This welcome taster is good.
Devin,
Loved my first box. Can’t wait to get the next one to try some new bourbons.
Drake,
Got my sample and fell in love with the Wolfburn. Such a rich smooth taste that had me craving for more. Hooked for life.
Daniel,
I prefer scotch. There was a good range of whiskys. It would be nice to be able to pick welcome kit.
Jason,
This is an interesting sample to start with. I would have to say with Few, Breckinridge, and Wolfburn (or Woodburn?), this whiskey sample is heavily weighted towards rye so the scotch feels out of place. Overall we enjoyed it.
Rudy,
Breckinridge, strong vanilla smell with a Chloroseptic after burn!
Few Rye Whiskey, had a bland feel with a plant taste.
Wolfburn, has a light smell (can’t pick out scents) but a spicy, smokey campfire taste!!!
Bruce,
I didn't like any of it to be honest. The Bourbon was the best of the lot but not what I would call good. While I am not much of a scotch drinker I have had some I liked. This was not one of them. It was simply terrible.
Brian,
Great starter, especially enjoyed the scotch selection.
Alan,
A. Breckenridge: Nice and rich.
B. Few: 3 of us sampling - we all poured it out. Sharp and nasty.
C. Wolfburn: My roots are MacLeod and 2 of my great grandfathers were from Islay. I poured it out. :-(
Cory,
I enjoyed the Breckenridge and Few Whiskey but I’m not a fan of Scotch.
Jonathan,
The scotch was not good but the other two were retry good.
Timmy,
Wolfburn was definitely my favorite. I'm a huge fan of big peaty flavors. I can't drink rye whiskeys because of an allergy, but that's nothing benadryl can't fix. With that being said, it was tasty for sure. Breckenridge was really good with a lot of vanilla up front but it lacked the afterburn that I've come to expect in a good bourbon.
Russell,
Good selections from three families of spirits; did not disappoint! Especially surprised by the Breck; lots of honey but just enough barrel to keep me coming back. A great intro to the Flaviar club.
Brett,
I enjoyed the box quite a bit. My first real experience with a scotch and I’m excited to try some more in the near future.
Brian,
Decent box. Breckinridge was my favorite, followed by the few and did not care for wolfburn very much. I think I expected a bit more, but not bad.
Matthew,
The Few was surprisingly my favorite. Very smooth! I would say the Breckenridge was my next favorite, but somewhat average for bourbon. My least favorite was the Wolfburn. Love the smoky taste, but do not like the musty peat. However as I sit here and drink it, it is kind growing on me...!
Joe,
Loved the Breckenridge and the Few was delightful. The Wolfburn not So much. Turns out I do NOT like northlands peaty scotch.
Jared,
Nice introduction. Bourbon was better than average, Rye whiskey was solid, but Scotch was average at best.
Kevin,
Great introductory starter box!!
Mike,
Breckenridge was pretty good, but the others left a little to be desired. Nothing outstanding about either of those.
Dena,
I gave this a five because I don’t like whiskey that is harsh or aggressive on the pallet. The Colorado was probably the best out of the bunch. The oak and smokeyness is not something I prefer. I like a smoother whiskey with no rye or oak tastes. The 12year old Glenlivet or 1910 Pendleton is more my style.
Michael,
The Few rye was my fave of the 3. The Breckinridge is a typical Colorado bourbon and very nice. I like scotches but not a fan of the smoky/peaty types. This is light and easy sipping!
Alexander,
Good box to start off with but i was not a fan of the few rye
Michael,
I like highlands, but did not like this Wolfburn. I am not a fan of ryes, but my mother loved it. The Brekenridge was the best of the three in my opinion.
Lauren,
All around solid selections
Cynthia,
The bourbon was great with a nice spice to it, the Rye was my favorite with excellent flavor and depth. The scotch was Smokey and overall NOT my favorite.
Roman,
I liked the bourbon-great taste and smooth. The rye was ok, very light smell. Not a fan of the scotch.
Travis,
Good box to start you off with things. Thanks!
Jeff,
Liked the scotch. loved the bourbon. Not a rye fan.
Kristen,
I have yet to receive anything!!!!!
Nicholas,
Good for the starter box
Torrance,
A delicious selection. Welcome!
Alex,
The rye was the favorite for me. The Wolfburn was interesting, but just not as bold as I expect a scotch to be.
Marcia,
I didn't like the rye. But I enjoyed the bourbon and scotch very much!
NORA,
Interesting experience. I liked the Breckenridge. Few was way too spicy for me. The Scotch I didn’t like at all. It was too peaty. Tasted like drinking through an old moldy sock.
BJ,
Good starter kit. Nothing extravagant or too far off the beaten path. Bottles were just labeled A, B, C so it was a little bit of research to understand what I was drinking. Kind of made it a game to figure out what they were though, so not necessarily a bad thing.
Evan,
This is a super nice set and my first one from flaviar. It really runs the gamut and it’s helping me to familiarize myself with the various varieties of whiskey. Definitely recommend!
Brendan,
It was a good start to my whiskey adventure, though wish I could have tried a speycide as well
guest,
Fun first tasting choices weren’t my favorite but offered interesting variation.
Nicholas,
Great welcome box! The bourbon was delicious with its definite notes of vanilla, spice, and fruit. And I’m a huge fan of scotch so the Wolfburn was a winner for me. Quite sweet for a scotch. I wasn’t thrilled about the rye; I kept getting a note that smelled like pickles when I went for a taste. Hoping for a tequila or gin in my upcoming box!
Maria,
Loved it. A & C
Danielle,
We did a blind tasting and actually were surprised that the rye was a favorite across the board with its complex flavors. The bourbon and scotch were good as well, but nothing to write home about.
Mike,
Great first box - I have only had one of them prior.
Hayden,
Great first box! Very excited to see what comes next. All whiskeys were very smooth.
Nicholas,
Great welcome box! The bourbon was delicious with its definite notes of vanilla, spice, and fruit. And I’m a huge fan of scotch so the Wolfburn was a winner for me. I was thrilled about the rye; I kept getting a note that smelled like pickles when I went for a taste. Hoping for a tequila or gin in my upcoming box!
Emily,
Great first box! Looking forward to more.
Gilbert,
Good little mix great flavors and got my attention for whatever is next!
Cynthia,
Interesting first choices
Jonathan,
great first box! Few was my favorite
Shu-Hao,
Nice flavor and enjoyed a lot.
Kevin,
Nice selection good flavors good information
Julie,
Received a welcome sample box that consisted of Breckenridge bourbon, Few Rye Whiskey, and Wolfburn Northland scotch. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Not at all thrilled with the selection to welcome me to a "premium " type whiskey club.
The Bourbon although the best in the box had a killer bite, the Rye was not bad, but tasted not much different from JD barrel select Rye except had an overpowering black pepper flavor at the end. The scotch was just disappointing light in color, almost waterlike, peaty, almost musty on the nose, odd, smokey?, flavor.
Jeremy,
Awesome sample of rye, bourbon, and Canadian whiskey.
Brook,
What a fantastic start. Can’t wait for my next box...guess that’s why I’ve already ordered another sampler.
Mike,
Loved it
Natalie,
The Rye was the best, had a sweet honey flavor and great after taste. Would definitely try this one again.
Did not like the bourbon. It had a super harsh burn going down. I’m a lover of whiskey/bourbon and don’t mind a little burn but that was just too much.
I was excited about the scotch looking at the flavor spiral but it was super weird. It was deceiving....You smell it and it was sweet, you sip it and it was sweet, it was ok at first but then........it was like you drank from an ash tray. Not a good aftertaste. Would not recommend the scotch.
Mark,
The scotch did not taste pleated as suggested while some notes were there some seemed not to exist at all. I have had the FEW before and enjoy it on occasion to sip but not as a delicacy. The rum was a strange choice to include as the third tasting but was a decent rum that was smooth on the palate
Chris,
Odd selections. The scotch was a northland scotch pretending to be peated. The bourbon and rye were ok. None were my favorites nor would I buy them. I’ve submitted my ratings. I sure hope they are considered before my next shipment.
Dan,
Very good whiskey. Very smooth
Michelle,
Liked all three, the Breckinridge was my favorite.
Erik,
Good varieties of great whiskeys
Alison,
Like all but one of the samples. Can’t remember which one my husband didn’t like.
Bill,
Great variety for an introduction.
Jacob,
Just what I was looking for
Angela,
I enjoyed this tasting! The Breckinridge was my favorite but there is no denying that I am a bourbon girl.
Jennifer,
We really love the Breckinridge! The Whistle Pig was ok, but we like Angels Envy better. The Rye was nice as well. As for the scotch....my husband doesn’t care for it and I rather liked it, so that was a toss up.
Steven,
I would agree with most reviews. There was a great one, a good one and one I could live without... I misplaced my cards telling me which one was which. However great experience and can’t wait to try my Whiskey in a Jar
Mike,
Loved the bourbon. The other 2 were okay but not fantastic.
Charlie,
Overall pretty good but none of these would be in my top picks in each category.
Graeson,
Decent introductory box, very nice welcome to the club
Jared,
A) The Brek - overall an enjoyable bourbon. The banana flavor is really what stood out for me, on the nose it was very noticeable to me, slightly less on the taste. If you like bananas (or just slightly fruity drinks in general), you will like this one. I certainly did.
B) FEW - not bad, not great. I don't have a lot of experience with different ryes, but from what i have had i definitely prefer bourbon. However, if the rye is really interesting it can still really grab my attention (whistlepig is one of those, wouldn't pay full price for one, but as a gift i have really enjoyed it). This one didn't.
C) Wolfburn - First impression: no thanks never again. This was my first experience with anything remotely peated, and it really didn't sit well at first. I put it down for another week or two and decided to come back to it with an open mind again. I did enjoy it much more than the first time, but still not enough to want even a full glass of it. The smoke doesn't hit until the rest of it fades away, and until then it is pretty good. still can't get through that smoke comfortably though.
Matt,
Not sure I cared much for any of the samples. Little disappointed in that but I didn’t sign up expecting to find the “right” whisk(e)y for me on the first try! They were not at all horrible, but I’ve had better for my taste buds and that’s ok.
Matt,
Not a huge fan of the Scotch, but the Breckinridge was good.
Jason,
Good first box with a fair mix, but I wasn’t blown away.
Jon,
The Breckenridge was excellent, the other two are not so great.
Ryan,
I enjoyed the Breckinridge the most. All were good.
Albert,
Decent intro but have had them all before.
Sean,
I intensely enjoyed it. I’ve had Breckinridge but not the others. I do like the FEW
Chad,
A - Color is darkest of the 3 samples - a golden brown. Nose is definitely bourbon, very sweet smell. Taste has a little burn at first and builds. Taste is very sweet, get some corn. It's a good bourbon, sweet, like sherry.
B - Color is lighter than A. Nose is spicier but still sweet. Nose is a little peppery. Taste has less burn than A. Taste is spicy. Least favorite of the 3 but still enjoyable.
C - Very light color, almost clear. Nose is definitively Scotch, with some peat. Taste is smooth and buttery, caramel, with some peat. My favorite of the 3.
Kathryn,
A was complex but burned,
B was smoother and C was nice and I did the tasting with my 22 yr old daughter and we both agreed. Hmmm who would’ve thought?!?
Craig,
The Breckenridge bourbon and Few rye were both enjoyable and about what I would expect from decent distilleries in the US. I’m not a scotch guy and that Wolfburn Highland was a rude reminder. As I tasted it I was reminded what the character of Renton from Trainspotting said about the Scottish because if they think this tastes good then he nailed the description of those people down pat. Ugh....
Jose,
‘A’ was the smoothest in my opinion. I’ll give it a 6. It was okay. ‘B’ was the best out of all of them! I would give it a 7. Nice with the perfect amount of spice. The scotch can go back to the hell it came. It gets a 1. Average is 5.
Meghan,
Good start
John,
Good variety and a nice intro to the club
Adam,
Everything was fantastic. Was not a fan of the scotch though
James,
Really liked the Breckinridge whiskey. The Highlands Scotch was very smokey and very strong in iodine flavor. A little too charcoal for my taste. Great starter sampler!
Andre,
Good Flavor Profile
Robert,
All are very nice, my favorite was the bourbon!
Hunter,
Love the northland
David,
Love love love the concept! Really loved the Few Rye.
Heather,
I really enjoyed each tasting. The scotch was my favorite.
Robert,
Enjoyed the Breckenridge. Didn't care for the Wolfburn with the Smoky peat. I'm new to Rye Whiskey, but the flavor combination didn't work for me including the finish.
Eric,
Great intro into the service, with a solid lineup. Wolfburn was my favorite, followed by Few and Breckinridge.
Adam,
Good welcome box, nice to see a bit of variety. Look forward to seeing what else is to come. I enjoyed the Breckinridge and the Wolfburn
Will,
I enjoyed the Breckenridge the most of the set, and I may pick up a bottle of it for my collection. The Few was pretty good for a Rye, but I didn't like the Wolfburn--but I am not a Scotch person.
John,
Nothing really blew me away but nothing was disappointing. My favorite was the Breckenridge.
Daniel,
I am more of a bourbon guy and had already tried the Breckinridge but it was tasty again nonetheless. I was quite impressed with the Few Rye whiskey and might give that a go for my bar. Not a scotch guy but can’t say I hated the wolfburn scotch. I was really nice drinking the different types of whiskey as a flight style tasting.
Pat,
I have only tried the Wolfburn and it was awesome. Im going to have the Brek tonight!
Tyler,
I thought this was a good welcome box. Each one is definitely unique. Breckenridge was my favorite and it wasn’t close. The Wolfburn was the most unique; tasted like you were swallowing a campfire. The Few was just ok to me. I wouldn’t buy a bottle of it. I may consider buying some Breckenridge though
Isaac,
All three have a very unique flavor profiles Beckenridge is the one that stood out the most to me far exceeding my expectations I may be purchasing a bottle
James,
All were diverse and special in their own ways.
Sean,
Excellent all around! The Wolfburn is a smoky and peaty Scotch that's right up there with more expensive Islays. It needs to always be in stock.
Dyana,
The Scotch was horrific. The Rye and the Bourbon were very tasty. I ordered a bottle of each.
Ashley,
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this tasting. We were pleasantly surprised by the smoothness of the Rye.
Cliff,
Didn’t care for the scotch. Rye was okay and I usually like ryes over bourbon. The breckenridge was good.
Andrew,
Ok
Ro,
The rye was so-so and the scotch I received was wrong. The bourbon was good though
Joshua,
I loved the Breckinridge whiskey then the rye was my second still haven’t tried the wild burn yet
Dominic,
Liked everything except the Breckinridge.
Patrick,
Definitely enjoy this spread. I have only dabbled in the whisk(e)y world, and usuallly mixed even then. I think I just got sucked in to the rabbit hole... Cheers!
Craig,
liked the Bourbons
Michael,
Not yet a fan of rye whiskey but wolfburn scotch loved the Smokey flavor notes
Joshua,
I got a membership to learn what I like and develop a taste. It was an interesting experience, and I found I enjoyed the bourbon the most with the scotch taking second.
Marc,
We loved the packaging and the overall display. The Breckinridge was the best of the three. Overall this is a great way to experience the variety of spirits.
Leon,
All were GREAT
Darren,
I thought this was a fun box to begin taking spirits tasting more seriously. Obviously most people have familiarity with bourbon, rye, and scotch; so it was fruitful to sample and explore further flavors which are recognizable.
Am I doing it right? Well, do you taste sweet, spicy, and smoky? Then yes.
Samuel,
Underwhelming
Jose,
Really surprised by how smooth the Bourbon was, something you can enjoy neat, ice, or spirit forward cocktail. The Rye definitely a bit more of an edge. The Scotch, was a bit young for my taste.
Jimmi,
It was a great start. Lots of options. Now to try more!
Jason,
All good - no stand outs but still found them all enjoyable.
Brian,
Fair starting point
David,
Good mix of flavors
Elisa,
The scotch was not good at all! Couldn’t even tolerate it mixed. The others were good!
Michael,
Besides picking options with amazing flavor, the presentation and packing was rad!
Melinda,
Best whiskey tasted.
John,
I liked it , nice spice all the way through , a good like tingle after the swallow on the tongue , I could see sharing a bottle over a couple cigars .
Marissa,
Interesting assortment. The Scotch was my least favorite and tasted like drinking a cigarette. I really enjoyed the Rye although it did get spicy the longer it sat. The Bourbon was smooth and honeyed. Excited to try more in my next tasting box!
Jacqueline,
The bourbon was definitely the best. It would have been nice to have a little more diversity in the box.
Gary,
Interesting Whiskies but I would say that better selections could be made for representative types.
Roland,
Not a fan, A is way to hot for the mouth, B just isn’t a good flavor too me & C was actually alright for the most part!
Taysha,
Definitely introduced me to things I’ve never had before and surprised me to learn that I may like rye whisky
Jason,
It was fun and it left me wanting more.
Randy,
I loved all three! The Scotch was much better than I expected based on reading other reviews, but I love Scotch so maybe I'm biased. The FEW Rye was excellent. My favorite was the Breckenridge Bourbon. Outstanding.
Tommy,
i enjoyed all but the scotch, not my cup of tea. I knew I was going to like the bourbon, but had mixed feelings about the rye. ended up liking that best. dry and spicy, went down smooth.
Eric,
I liked everything but the scotch. Very peaty tasting.
Randi,
The bourbon were very good lite bodied and favor full
Christopher,
Good selections. Not sure it is worth $60. All tasted good.
Troy,
Not bad, but one was a scotch and I’ve since updated my Flavier to ignore Scotches. The two bourbons were decent. The Rye surprised me as I’m not normally excited about a Rye but now have a new Rye on my wishlist.
David,
It was a good first box
Lilyanne,
Great representation of each whiskey.
Heather,
Not bad. Smaller bottles than what I was expecting.
Tonya,
Young at starting to taste new flavor
Danielle,
Fantastic selections, on par with others in my collection. It is great to find other choices to compare.
Charles,
Great variety, perfect starter kit!
Sheliah,
Loved the variety!
Mackenzie,
I really liked all 3 of these. The bourbon was definitely my favorite. I wasn’t as big on the scotch, but it does have a unique flavor that’s growing on me.
Nicole,
Breckinridge - tasted too much like alcohol, not smooth at all but bitter and sharp. FEW - something I could clean with, no depth of flavor, floral in a bad way. Scotch - overpowered by smoke, tasted like I had my mouth open while grilling.
Rob,
Rye was harsh. Bourbon was decent. Scotch was smooth, definitely my favorite.
Brandon,
Whiskey was so so.
Rye was spot on...Smooth caramel
The Scotch didn’t do it for me.
I’m a Gin guy...where’s the Gin?
Michele,
The Bourbon and Rye were really tasty! I've only tasted a few scotches that I like, and this is definitely NOT one of them. Smells like tequila, tastes like blech.
Nicholas,
Bourbon was common place, the Rye was exceptional, the Scotch needed more time in the barrel
Sharon,
The Bourbon and Rye were great! smooth taste. Did not like the Scotch at all.
Kelly,
Loved the Bourbon and Rye, the Scotch not so much.
Christopher,
Great introduction!
Dan,
Glad to try the High Rye Bourbon and Rye Whisky, but never a fan of scotch. After tasting gave the scotch to my Dad and he enjoyed it. Just happy to get to taste the differences between these whiskeys it was a lot of fun for me.
Aaron,
Wolf burn was very nice, it turned out to be a favorite!
Jernique,
Good box mix. Everyone’s right- the Bourbon is the best. The others are good also but the star is the Bourbon .
Jason,
Bourbon was great, Rye was average, Scotch was subpar
cory,
The bourbon is the highlight of the box.
David,
Scotch wasn’t very good, rye average, bourbon was good
Duncan,
Scotch wasn’t very good, rye average, bourbon outstanding
Toni,
Still learning.
Enjoyed all three.
Breckenridge was surprisingly good. Hadn’t tried any type of Rye before now.
