Jason,
Good rye and fantastic four Sazerac.
Ray,
Strong but equally smooth. It leaves a lingering aftertaste that makes you want more.
Michael,
I liked it a lot even my wife liked it. I would recommend it
Joe,
Meh
Keith,
Nice taste
James,
Very drinkable, but not much flavor or complexity..
Doug,
Easy drinking, not exemplary
Lisa,
I was surprised at how well with this paired with apple brandy. Excellent on its own or as the foundation of some foo foo old fashioneds!
James,
Subtle and smooth. Really good
Cristina,
Very easy to drink, soft and sweet, lots of vanilla. A really nice surprise.
Frank,
A good, light rye. It is a bit deceptive, however, that the whiskey originates from MGP in Indiana, which Sagamore them ages and bottles.
Nicholas,
Enjoyed this a lot. The spice is as prevalent as the spiral denotes and the finish has a wonderful fruity punch. Apricot and orange. The nose I got almost a cinnamon like spice and vanilla. Very solid.
Thomas,
Really nice, light rye. Smooth with no burn. Very good for sipping neat.
William,
It's okay. It's a light rye that would be a great entry for beginners in this category. Heavy vanilla on the nose and some orange peel at the end, it lacks the baking spice notes one craves. Leather and tobacco when on the rocks, spice picks up as well but still missing that deep rye flavor. Good for mixed drinks rather than a neat pour.
Amy,
Very smooth with a light mouth feel. I smell the vanilla.
Shreyas,
Smooth and spicy. Makes a great old-fashioned.
Mark,
Light for a rye, but a decent aftertaste
John,
For the price this Rye is phenomenal! I’ve bought a second bottle. Every time I drink it I’m very impressed. Can’t say Rye’s are my favorite but this one I love
Ben,
This doesn’t drink like a typical rye. Extremely light on the nose with unmistakable sweetness, vanilla and ripe fruit. I don’t pick up much of the tobacco mentioned by the spiral and the spice just isn’t as prevalent as I expected. Absolutely outstanding at the $40 price point.
Brian,
Very smooth. Normally drink Bullitt rye, but this one is my new favorite.
Sam,
Jasmine and vanilla dominate. Great for the price point. Doesn’t really drink like a rye in my opinion and the spicy is subtle compared to other “spicy” ryes. Great entry point for people new to rye (at least in my state). This and woodford reserve rye are my staples when introducing people to rye.
Scott,
Love it!!! Very tasty! Perfect for Old Fashioned’s
Justin,
Smooth but doesn’t seem to taste like a rye. Very drinkable but not very complex
Steve,
Easy to drink if you are not a bourbon whiskey or rye. Absolutely zero nose, weak flavor, no levels of flavor, qualities (not flavor) are similar to white bottle Jim Beam($15). It is probably a good rye for beginners and non-rye drinkers. Does not measure up to Dickel Rye ($22)or High west Double Rye.($30) (certianly not Whistle Pig).
Moe,
It’s a rye. Nothing special, but I’m not the biggest rye fan, wanted to try it.
Charles,
Started off sweet and developed spice, it was smooth, not harsh at all
John,
Truly delicious, both straight and on the rocks. It shines in an old fashioned.
Jeffery,
Spicy, smooth with a nice finish. I think I'd add a splash of water to enjoy the sip.
John,
Smooth, aromatic, flavorful rye. Very nice for sipping. I could get used to this one.
Reed,
This is one whisky that tastes better on the rocks - straight-up is a bit harsh. The fruity bouquet is amazing.
Justin,
Picking up the vanilla and fruit on the nose and initial taste. Fades into some tobacco and oak and nice spice on the finish.
Eugene,
Smooth. Caramel and spice pleasantly subtle.
Jeffrey,
It was a good sipper but not amazing. I will get again for the daily drink.
Nic,
So smooth!
Calli,
It was enjoyable but nothing about it jump out at me.
Joseph,
Smooth with a nice finish
Chris,
Liked it, but wouldn't necessarily buy again
Charles,
When I drink neat, I like smooth. A little burn at first is OK but I want to experience the butterscotch flavor without sweetness at the end. The Sagamore is a nice balance. I wouldn't dream of using this for a mixed drink. It's neat, or with stones only.
Jeff,
Really smooth. favorite of a couple of my friends of all the whiskeys we tasted last go around.
Chuck,
Loved this Rye.
Sophia,
I'm more of a smokey peaty scotch-girl than a sweet spicy rye whiskey-girl, but was pleasantly surprised by this dram...smooth and drinkable like many others have said. I think this is only my second time trying a rye and would definitely like to try others to compare.
Mike,
rye whiskey has a different taste but it has a nice edge to it
Cameron,
Nothing stands out about this. Typical rye. Great for old fashioneds though
Michael,
Very smooth and drinkable
Michael,
It was just OK for me
Corbin,
It was a nice beginning whiskey for me. Eager to try new flavors and blends of different notes. It was just the right amount of spicy
Dan,
Really like this one. Sitting outside with a fall fire, sipping Sagamore Spirit...hard to beat. Made me want to explore more ryes!
Frank,
A medium rye. Makes a great Old Fashioned.
David,
Sagamore Rye made me a Rye enthusiast. Very tasty with a lemon twist. I am now looking to try others. A very sippable drink. Relax with one.
DB upstate NY
Vincent,
Not great, but good. needs more spice for drinking neat.
Makes a fine Old Fashioned.
Joel,
A seemingly unfinished rye lacking in complexity and depth.
Scott,
This dram was a spicy mouth of goodness. The flavor tapered into fruit and finished clean. I would but this rye again in a heartbeat.
Larry,
Light rye with nice nose.
Isaiah,
Loved this bottle. For the price its hard to beat
Johnathon,
One of my favorites! Nice and smooth with a kick!
JAMES,
Picked it as a membership bottle, and I'm enjoying sipping it very much (with a drop of water) - would definitely buy it again. I'd agree with others - smooth and nice after taste.
Miles,
A nice sipping rye with plenty of warmth but not much heat. Tasty, with plenty of vanilla, maple and candied fruit notes and a very appealing nose.
The nice, dry and spicy finish is very clean.
Erik,
Smooth, loved the vanilla and spices, wonderful aftertaste.
Matt,
Smooth, light, and peachy finish.
Michael,
Love it. Mixes well with diet coke. not overpowering.
Steve,
Smooth - first Maryland Whiskey I’ve had
Justin,
Smooth
Nathaniel,
Not for me
Christopher,
Not an expert, by any means, but very flavorful. My only regret is that I don’t have any left.
Gerald,
lol
Matt,
Very nice Rye. It has the distinctive rye spiciness but is very smooth.
Wonderful sipping neat while relaxing. Highly recommended.
Alex,
I haven’t tried many ryes, but this was great. Very easy to drink straight. In a sniffer you can smell the rye but a different taste and smooth all the way down. Can definitely see myself purchasing again.
Tyler,
I’m getting caramelized banana and vanilla in the nose. Maybe also creme brûlée? Taste is sweet up front. Caramel, maybe some cinnamon? Then a nice spice linger in the end. I REALLY like this!
Guy,
Wish I could do 6.5 stars. Overall, it is a fine rye. I wasn't wowed in any particular area. It has a hefty amount of spice considering how light it is. Maybe turning up the ABV would've helped. It finishes ok, but not in a great way. It just kind of spiced me up and then left. Not saying it's a one trick pony, but you need to looked hard for the layers here. Makes a tasty rye & coke.
Cliff,
One of the best Ryes I have ever had!
Eben,
Very Good!
Eddie,
Thanks
Eddie,
Ntmot the bite that I usually get from my Ryes. However, good taste. Not as good as Woodford Reserve Rey but still a good bottle.
Robinson,
Really wonderful experience with this Rye. It’s spicy 🌶 yet smooth.
Jason,
Goes really well in my wife's Manhattan!
Eric,
The best Rye for the money hands down. Better than others twice the price!
Josh,
Delicicious libation. Makes a hell of an old fashioned. Not quite spicy as some other rye but has a pleasant finish. This was my premium bottle selection for first month amd I would consider buying this again in store.
Rick,
Easy to drink with more flavor than I expected. Not spectacular, but for the price point, I would buy again.
Josue,
Love it
Austin,
I prefer my bourbon/whiskey with a splash of water when I’m drinking, and to me this is a perfect rye for that. Still flavorful, but not overpowering. Overall would recommend/ buy again. Tasting notes are sweet with a little bit of a pine/ spruce flavor to it. Clean finish that leaves a good after taste.
Aimee,
Smooth and sweet. Good flavor, but the flavor is a little weak.
Andee,
Smooth starts with a spicy note but quickly goes to the fruits, only taste the peach at the end. Will big again!
Elise,
Surprisingly smooth - apricot notes with a strong vanilla/caramel/maple presence. Spicy finish. A very good everyday staple
ERIC,
Solid rye. Nice balance of vanilla and spice.
Matt,
Very solid rye. Nothing really spectacular but definitely making it a regular!
Traci,
solid rye. nothing incredibly unusual, but would recommend to others.
Franchesca,
It wasn't too bad, definitely picked up some apricot notes, but it could've been a lot smoother.
Eli,
Loved it
gary,
Fantastically smooth for a rye full of sweet aromas and spice. For the price this is a perfect sipping rye that would be a great introductory spirit to anyone wanting to further their palate down the whiskey trail. Great neat or on the rocks, but can lose itself in a cocktail so remember KISS (keep it simple stupid)
Shawn,
Liked the flavor and how it went down
Randall,
Definitely a great Rye! Smooth and was a hit with my friends. Would definitely buy again, but will try their other concoctions first.
Jeff,
I’m not sophisticated enough to describe different “notes” and flavors. I can tell you this, though....this stuff is good!
Lee,
I thought this was quite good. I was surprised I liked a Rye, but it blended well and was smooth
David,
There are not too many rye whiskeys I like but this I will buy again.
Samuel,
I really liked it
Ira,
Like it much more than I expected. I've been on a rye kick so I got as my free bottle this quarter. The initial neck pour last night, meh. But boy oh boy oh boy did this puppy open up after a day uncorked. Nose of prunes and apricot with a little rye. Balanced mouthfeel with apricot and rye, a little maple or caramel, with rye up front and tobacco in back. The flavor of rye but without that rye pop. Kind of like a bourbon smoothness but with rye flavors. Really very nice. The tobacco taste lingers in the finish, I feel like I just smoked a Cohiba.
Jason,
Delicious
Heather,
Freakin love it. Drink this rye daily if you can. Better yet use it to turn a friend onto rye. Not terrible spicy just an easy going smooth whisky.
Jesse,
Rye is my preferred whiskey. High proof, so there’s the initial alcohol burn. That opens to immediate new oak backed by dark stone fruit, like cherries. Sweetness starts to develop, honey and vanilla. The fruit turns to apricot toward the finish. I like sipping this one. Pretty happy with it. I’m interested to see what a Manhattan will taste like with this
Darren,
Loved it. Very mellow. Easy to drink. Just added a small drop of water to open up the rich sweet flavors. Already ordered another.
Alyssa,
Very smooth for a Rye! I’m glad I branched out and tried it. It makes a great old fashioned!
Christopher,
Buttery mouth feel with a sharp after taste. Licorice on the nose. Overall a good rye, but better with an ice cube than straight. I probably wouldn't get this one again as there are much better rye at the same or lower cost.
Johnathon,
Very smooth, sweet spicy taste! One of my favorites so far!
Joe,
This will ruin ryes for you because the balance is perfect. Mellow caramel on the front, smooth creamy mouth feel, typical spice and pepper finish. Great way to intro someone to rye
Jonathan,
This was a great introduction to rye whiskey, and one that I loved. It has a home at my bar - very comfortable to taste with a wonderful follow up.
Tod,
Great rye and I hope they used one of the old "secret"Maryland recipes.
Alex,
Not a bottle of of thought of buying but I’m impressed and would recommend to others! The spice dominates the profile and is with you from nose to finish, but the apricot & citrus bring down to a level that more sensitive palates can enjoy as well.
Nathan,
Nice dram, very smooth. Mild but agreeable flavor with a hint of spice around the edges and on the finish. Easy drinking but not overly complex.
Mark,
Excellent whiskey. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase, in fact, the bottle didn’t last 2 weeks!
Jeff,
Very good flavor! Smooth and easy to drink. I had to make sure I didn’t over do it because it goes down so easily.
Dave,
Neat, room temperature, with a few drops of water is my method of allowing Sagamore to show me it's rye prowess. Thumbs up!
Jeff,
Has a strong bite over rocks. Pretty good with a mixer. I use Sprite.
brandon,
quarterly free bottle. very spicy and aggressive. rye (obviously) notes all the way through and a fairly long finish. very warming. sagamore was upfront about it being a sourced whiskey and I like that in company but rye just isn't my thing. overall a middle of the road experience. probably will not be buying a bottle anytime soon.
David,
Got this as my quarterly bottle since there was very few options available. Not a big fan.
Gabe,
That's how i felt also. It was between this and a WHISTLEPIG
10 Year Old Rye Whiskey (375ml) for me. I wish Flaviar had better options. Reconsidering my subscription now
matthew,
Also agree about the selections as well as reconsidering my subscription. If this is what is offered on a regular basis ( 3 full bottles and a half ) I don’t really feel it’s worth my time or money. I do like the sampler setup though, wish there was a cheaper option just for that and I could pay full price for what I liked.
Jeff,
Caramel/butterscotch on the nose with a spicy palate. Long aftertaste with a slight burn. Tasted neat at room temp.
Mark,
Pretty smooth
Jeffrey,
I was pleasantly pleased! Straight out of the bottle it was direct and to the point going down. Add two drops of water and the complextion changed to a smooth, silky, sweeter taste that sat nicely on the palette.
David,
First if all, incredible bottle design. I'm keeping this for the "bottle shelf." The whiskey here is unique and good. If it were priced in the low $30s it'd be a steal, but at close to $40 I can find others much better. Would love to see it aged for another few years. Will definitely try again once the distillery has got a few more years under their belt perfecting this.
Jordan,
Light and smooth. Not as spicy as expected.
Athena,
Warm on the way down with a lingering glow. Harsh for my palate neat, tempered with melted ice it is easier sipping. Currently mixed with cola it brings out the sweet warmth.
Robert,
I’m not normally a rye guy, but this one as delicious.
Robin,
What a surprise. I knew it was a MGP product but I had read good reviews so I jumped at the chance. A nice smooth rye compared to some others I have on the shelf. This is a definite keeper
Nicholas,
Smooth rye (yes, a smooth rye!) with vanilla and fruit up front and a smoothness on the palette that is quite enjoyable. I thought it was cherry, but the flavor spiral says apricot, tobacco and peach. I’m still learning, but makes sense now. Best rye I’ve had for the price yet.
John,
Enjoyed has full flavor with out being over bearing
Scarlett,
Really loving my eye whiskey. Didn't even know I liked rye whiskey until my box arrived!
William,
Really enjoyed it
Anthony,
I'm not a big drinker, but I do love scotch. Mainly Johnny Walker. I acquired this bottle of Sagamore Spirit, which is rye whiskey, almost by accident and it was just delicious! So much so that I immediately used my free shipping and credits at Flaviar to buy a second bottle. I'm almost halfway through the first bottle now after a couple of weeks and on the odd evenings that I enjoy a finger or two, I sip it slowly so that I can really enjoy it. Fantastic find.
Victor,
I did not have very high expectations for this for some reason, but, what a pleasant surprise! Definitely a keeper.
Matt,
Wow this beauty has taste, it’s rye flavor is delicious and smooth
David,
Lighter than I like. Still enjoyable. Better neat.
Andrew,
Great balance between spicy and sweet- a very easy and delightful sipper. The finish is long and the orange is readily apparent
Andrew,
A great balance of sweet and spicy. The finish is long and the orange really comes through.
Charlotte,
We enjoyed it, makes a nice Manhattan.
tom,
Very good rye. Have not had straight up yet, but made a few very good Manhattans.
cody,
This is a really smooth Rye with a beautiful balance of sweet and spciy in the taste. Really enjoyed it!
Nicholas,
Haven’t drank too many rye’s in the past, but this one was very pleasant!
Dave,
smooth.
Jeremy,
Great tasting rye!
Christopher,
Super tasty, with a particularly complex profile for a straight rye
John,
I'm usually not a rye guy but this bourbon was smooth with a hint of unique flavor. I enjoyed it.
Jeffrey,
Liked it. Still developing the knack for catching flavors. Was expecting it to be a bit more bitter as rye in the past with me has not been this smooth.
Matt,
Very good for the price. A sweetness that I don’t usually find in other rye.
Matthew,
Very smooth, spicy no burn, carmel
Andrew,
Excellent flavor, very smooth. Great for sipping or in a cocktail. Highly recommend.
Renea,
This was my first try at rye whiskey. I was very impressed. Bourbon has always been my go to, but this rye has taken first place for my palate.
Arthur,
I prefer aged whiskeys so I found this one too simplified...a bit more bite than I care for and just OK. Complexity just not there for me.
Richard,
Really smooth and lice the Carmel. Making me a Rye fan for sure
Austin,
Very smooth, almost sweet tasting. The caramel notes really came through, and i really love the spiceness.
Jarvis,
A unique rye that’s delicious and complex. Totally took my be surprise!
Dwight,
Very smooth and palatable. The Spicy and Caramel notes are noticeable/present. Recommend drinking with whiskey rocks and not ice so as not to miss the more subtle notes. Nice color, too. Would definitely order/drink again.
Tristan,
Very Smooth
Ryan,
Very smooth, with a little spice. Really nice.
Justin,
I’m a big fan of rye whiskey. Frankly, it’s my favorite of the family. This whiskey was dangerously smooth with sweet, fruity notes. I think that’s a thing? I don’t really care I guess, I really love rye whiskey and this one was great!
Kevin,
Fine....flavor seemed to be a little flat
Jennifer,
Smooth straight or on the rocks , which really opened it up
TOM,
Quite nice. Smooth finish and seemed to have a little bit of a cheery tone. Not as spicy as I expected based on other reviews.
Doug,
Smooth and spicy. Love it!
Gregory,
Love every sip. Powerful flavor with honey notes and a soft, smooth mouth feel. Hard to believe it's 41.5%
Sooraj,
This rye reduction goes great in the homemade BBQ sauces. The spicy notes in this drink is quite prominent and a small gulp warms you right away. I can see this a good sipper during late fall or early winter. I had this neat and probably won't do that again because of high spice notes.
Steve,
reminds me of Jack
Ryan,
A whiskey with a nice clean flavor with some spice to it.
Jackson,
Warm, smooth with great balance of sweetness and spice. Great neat or in a Manhattan.
Alec,
Nice spicy sipping rye.
Denise,
I really liked the flavor of this Rye. It was very smooth which made it easy to drink alone, or in my old fashion
Michael,
Clean tasty Rye. Some spicy notes. Good value. Drinking with just a splash of water.
Jaime,
Definitely one of the best ryes I've ever had. Smooth and tasty.
David,
A bit bland
ROBERT,
A little spicy, but had a pleasant taste overall. Enjoyed poured over 1 large ice cube.
Nicholas,
The nose has lots of vanilla with a hint of spice. Slight edge on the tongue but strong undercurrents of apricot and vanilla. Not over-powering. Overall very easy to drink and enjoyable.
Stephen,
Very smooth....great neat or with cocktails.
David,
I really liked it - very flavorful and smooth!
Brian,
I really liked it. It was very smooth and easy to drink.
Jeffrey,
It’s ok but not something I would buy on my own. Mellow taste, but not overly flavorful.
Dan,
This is smooth and a nice whiskey, but it is missing the spice and finish of a more traditional rye. Seemed to lend to sweetness, more like a bourbon.
Michael,
Very drinkable. Would buy again.
Wendy,
My new favorite. Smooth and lovely.
Charles,
Easy and approachable rye.
Michael,
Smooth? Yes. Decent flavor? Yes. Will it knock your socks off? Definitely not. ...middle of the road rye.
Ryan,
Sweeter than anticipated which was a surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one. That rating was for both my Star Wars and whiskey enthusiasts.
James,
If all Rey whiskey is as harsh as this one, then you can count me out on future tastings. It was better after being allowed to breathe, but water was still needed in order to cut the bite. Not for me.
Stephen,
Really enjoyable sipping whiskey.
Andy,
Tasty rye. Smooth, not too sweet. With ice, more flavors presented themselves. I’ll buy it again. The bottle itself is a near shape too👍🏻
Michael,
I don’t care for rye bread but wanted to try. Not for me. Light rye taste on the palette. Added water made pretty good but I really hate rye.
Jim,
Excellent flavor!
Cory,
This Whiskey is fantastic. A wonderful first choice for the club membership. Had to stop myself before i finished it all in one evening.
Alison,
I purchased this as a show of support for small distilleries, and I was pleasantly rewarded! This is easy and satisfying to sip, with a smooth texture and layered taste. Perfect for a warm weather rye-on-the-rocks kind of day.
Jay,
a bit too medicine like for my taste. Didn't enjoy it as much as I do my go to Knob creek. I usually drink old fashioneds. Perhaps neat or with ice I'd like it more but...
Patrick,
Neat the flavors are quite mellow. With a couple of ice cubes, the flavors open up and have more depth. Slightly smokey, but more sweet and notes of vanilla and brown sugar.
Joshua,
Really enjoyed this. Smooth and easy to grink.
James,
A little smoky. Smooth.
Jeffrey,
Good sipping whiskey. Pleasant neat.
Stephen,
Very smooth.. one of the best Brandys I’ve had
Ryan,
I don't think that this bottle is a Brandy, it tends to lean more towards the Rye whiskey style.
Ronald,
It is a good rye for someone like me who generally don’t like ryes
Joe,
I really was surprised how good this was, especially for the price. I will keep this one on hand as my go to.
Gideon,
Very smooth great sipping whiskey not harsh no afterburn highly recommend will buy again
Larry,
I thought it was a decent tasting Rye. It has a strong rye flavor, for me it was slightly sweet with a spicy warm finish.
Alanna,
Nothing mind blowing, but decent spice and easy drinking both neat and in an old fashioned. I'd buy it again.
Jeremy,
Great for a Manhattan! Really enjoyed it.
Mark,
Makes a nice old fashioned, sweet and smooth.
Michael,
Just not my style.
Michael,
Smooth, mild rye. Good for sipping.
Geoff,
Fairly smooth, flavorful Rye. A hint of sweetness to it makes it a pleasurable sipping Rye. Not a top-end Rye, but a solid everyday beverage.
Robert,
VERY smooth. A great sipping drink when enjoying a cigar with friends
John,
A good flavored Rye. Easy to drink alone or blended.
Kevin,
Just wait for it!
TIM,
Surprisingly delicious! Spicy and just slightly sweet. Excellent straight and it makes a killer Manhattan or old fashioned.
Stephen,
Nice smooth on the rocks rye.
Guy,
It was OK! Probably just not my taste was all. Nothing wrong with it I just don't drink much RYE!
Brad,
I was really good! Very smooth with very little burnt oak. The Rye has always been my favorite
Michael,
Just got this as my first bottle with Flaviar and I’m very pleased. Excellent, smooth drink. Looking forward to finishing this bottle!
Kenneth,
Very smooth, but with a strong cherry/tobacco flavor. Very good rye.
Joshua,
Not the biggest fan. Isn’t bad but just wasn’t great
Tina,
very nice
Brad,
Very smooth, don't love Rye Whiskeys but this one is quite pleasant.
Jeffrey,
Smooth and flavorful.
Arthur,
Good and smooth. Has a very distinct aftertaste
Kevin,
Very smooth for a rye, a touch of sweet on the tongue, with the burn on the way down.
BRYAN,
I'm new to Rye whisky so this is my first, I think it's delicious regardless that I haven't had any other Rye to compare it to. I think it is very smooth with a little spice to it.
guest,
Musty finish
JAMES,
Wonderful aroma and taste. Shared it with family who were very impressed!
ALEXANDER,
Never really tried a good Rye, this is a nice sipper with a moderate spice. Enjoying it so far.

Very good for a standard rye whisky. Very smooth and drinkable. No ice or water needed. Neat all the way.
Shawn,
A beautiful aroma and very smooth with just enough sweetness. A very drinkable rye
Gage,
Solid rye
Edward,
It was nice for the money, but not as smoothe as my Basil Hayden dark Rye or Angels Envy Rye.
Andrea,
Very smooth, I really enjoyed for being a Vodka girl.
Walter,
For a rye, which I normally don't go out of my way to drink, this is rye is really good. Super smooth and a nice immediate flavor you can enjoy. As a traditional straight bourbon drinker, I believe this rye is up there as a contender to some of my all time favorite whiskeys.
Jeff,
WOW, hard to put these flavors anx enjoyments in words. Great on the rocks dressed as an old Fashion or just a splash of water
Burton,
Decent whiskey. A good rye for those new to this spirit. It gives you hints of the unique spice of rye without overpowering the palate. Get it. Your guests will like it.
Allan,
I like this and I am usually a scotch drinker and with some friends bourbon.
It comes across to me as light and fruity, my first taste of rye.
Michael,
My wife, daughter and I tasted this versus Sazerac, our house rye. We felt this one was good, but still like Sazerac a little better. Have nt tried it that way yet but expect it to make a mean Old Fashioned.
Joshua,
Strong on the palate with heat and oak. Mellows into a even finish with hints of vanilla. A good sipping whiskey.
john,
Must be neat, water/ice destroys the wonderful taste
Joe,
What a surprise on this Whiskey. Did not expect it to be that good honestly. I mean a Maryland (no offense) take on a Bourbon?? This is a great Rye whiskey, and can be drank either on a block/sphere or used to make a great cocktail.
Gregory,
Mixes wonderfully in cola and has a caramel coffee taste in the right ratio, def recommend for someone with a mellow sweet tooth
Matthew,
Fantastic!
Adam,
One of my favorite rye whiskeys. Very smooth yet complex to the end. This one I will be buying again soon. It has a permanent spot in my home bar.
John,
Smooth, balanced and very drinkable. An excellent sipping rye
Jeff,
Smooth nose with a hint of fruitiness on the back end.
Stephen,
Normally not a rye drinker but this was really smooth. No bite. Not spicy at all; rather, a Full bodied drink with oak and vanilla scents. My go to is normally scotch. But this will definitely become a staple in my home bar.
JOSEPH,
Not normally a rye drinker thought it was smooth and had a nice finish .
Daniel,
Pleasant and balanced Rye. Enjoyable finish.
William,
Smooth and perfect for a Manhattan!
David,
My favorite straight rye whiskey so far.
Casey,
Not usually a big fan of rye, but this is smooth. There is no after bite. The smell of the cork does not disappoint or mislead the taste.
John,
Very good with a cigar. Complements the tobacco with a spicy flavor. Very good and has a great finish. Before Flaviar, I never considered this as a whiskey I would keep in my bar, but now it will become a staple.
Anthony,
Smooth and sophisticated. Definitely a change of pace from standard rye fare, but in a great way. Could be a bit of an acquired taste, but a taste worth acquiring.
This Rye tastes wonderful. Drink it straight up or on the rocks. You can’t loose either way.
Richard,
Solid. Amazed the non whiskey drinkers at the holiday party. Will definitely be buying another bottle for myself.
James,
Fabulous, live it, just what I had hoped. I will buy more!
maria,
Very good! Will definitely buy this again.
Mike,
This is full bodied rye. It’s got an good nose and finishes well without a lot of the rye burn.
Andrew,
Very good. Smooth. Spicy finish.
Joel,
Woody taste.
William,
Smooth rye
Robert,
I'm not much for Rye, but this one is smooth and enjoyable. The hint of Jasmine was a nice change and very noticeable on the front, with the spice coming in on the finish. I'll likely keep this one rotating on the shelf. Cool bottle too.
Jasson,
Not a huge rye fan, normally a scotch drinker, but this is very, very good. Smooth, sweet attack with a mild palette, and a subtle rye finish. I am likely to order another bottle of this after receiving it as a freebie from a referral. Good stuff. 8/10
Sadie,
If you’re a fan of rye you’ll enjoy this one. All the flavor from a rye you’d want with a good finish and not too much going on. Easy drinker with minimal bite
James,
Amazingly smooth for a rye. Great flavor. Unfortunately I finish this bottle with friends in one sitting so I will definitely be purchasing another.
Jitendra,
Just usual... no complexity
Robert,
I like this rye. Had nice oak and caramel notes straight out of the bottle. I found it really smoothed out and opened up well with one ice cube... I even noticed some fruitiness once it opened up. Nice rye.
Gene,
Nice , a friendly rye with taste and character. Very drinkable a tad sweet but A great sip. I will keep this one in “the rotation “
Benjamin,
a sweet rye, or - spicy bourbon? Sagamore splits the hair to perfection.
Albert,
No matter what...can't help but enjoy this surprising sipper.
Michael,
Great Rye from the charm city.
Dmitriy,
Pretty good sipping rye
Kat,
Nice finish, smooth sipper
John,
Very balanced. Easy to drink. Just the right amount of spice I was looking for. Minimal burn.
Darren,
Smooth for a rye whiskey
Jessica,
Smooth & comfortable. Not overpowering. Enjoyed it.
Matthew,
Way too hot, destroyed my taste buds for the night and was not particularly satisfying. Best used in a cocktail.
Denise,
I loved the rich smooth play of the flavors and has been a great way to start my life with Whisky 🥃!
Thanks
J,
Light and sweet; most favorable of 3 ryes tried this evening.
Keith,
Nice.
Elizabeth,
I gave this as a gift and it was a hit. Yes, of course it was shared. We both like whisky and this was a pleasure to drink.
Daniel,
This was my first real adventure into rye whiskey... I was expecting it to be harsher and “spicier” than it was. I was pleasantly surprised that it was sweet and smooth and every other thing you want a nice whiskey to be.
Matthew,
Mixed with Coke and was surprised how well it blended.
Marisol,
The Rye went down smoothly with a sweet smell of vanilla.
James,
Overall decent, but nothing jumped out. Very smooth, but didn't really have any prominent taste.
Aaron,
Very nice!
Cheryl,
Sharp, warm finish, good oak balance, soft enough of a cherry finish that you don’t even think about it until later. Well charred and very light tannin accents.
Scott,
A lot smoother than I expected. Rye's usually punch me in the face. This one still brought some burn, but offered a lot of back end flavor.
James,
I like the bite of pepper at the beginning. Very tasty finish.
Evan,
Light golden color, I taste a lot of spice, some caramel and vanilla . I'm a bourbon drinker, but good enough to spur my curiosity with ryes.
Aaron,
New to Rye. Nice smooth vanilla whiskey.
Daniel,
Nice flavor. Pretty strong
Jesse,
Pretty good, tastes a little spicy in a good way. Not very sweet. A classic rye.
Matt,
Much more flavor and complexity compared with other rye whiskeys. A nice addition
Joseph,
Truly surprised with the great flavor and quality. Highly recommend for those who have never tried rye.
Leanna,
Delicious! It has the spiciness that I expect from a rye, but much smoother than I'm used to. Could easily be a sipping whiskey
Todd,
Nice rye alternative.
Tim,
Great taste. Very smooth. One of my new go to bourbons.
Andrew,
It was a nice change up!
Michelle,
I find this easy-sipping. Not as full-flavored as some other rye’s i have tried. Not sure that this is one i would keep around all the time. BUT, it is easy to drink and good intro to rye.
Amanda,
Spicy on the front a bit of a harsh finish but a did Rye overall
Kihm,
Lovely, mild, not overwhelming, but very tasty and clean.
Michael,
The nose on this rye is absolutely incredible (vanilla, spice, and, yes, jasmine). The taste is not quite as sweet as I expected given the nose, but wonderful nonetheless and quite well-balanced. I got this as a welcome bottle when I signed up (I might not otherwise have tried it)...but I will definitely have this again. I also love the bottle design and shape. I can't wait to try more from Sagamore Spirit.
Tom,
Another MGP product, but pleasant enough. Not a lot of complexity, a bit sweet for a rye, but totally quaffable.
Jeanne,
Tastes a little thin to me. Prefer the cask strength. Good for mixed drinks.
Bradley,
I'm just now getting into rye. I'm more of a bourbon guy, but I really like this. Very Sweet taste with a light spice undertone. I'm also not a pro Whiskey taster.
Timothy,
Tasty Rye, easy drinking with a great sweetness without losing the true Rye quality. Great for Manhattans.
Roger,
A very good drinking rye whiskey . Light on the rye with little to no burn. Its not going to knock your socks off, but I don’t it was made for that. Its just an inexpensive enjoyable daily drink.
Harrison,
Great Rye Whiskey from Maryland. Spice balance is complemented by the subtle notes of fruit. Brought me back to being a RYE fan.
Larry,
Good for Maryland distillers attempting to reclaim the Rye! This is a worthwhile entry, spicy and flavor forward but a little light on the palate.
