Character Goatson
A powerful Rye Whiskey finished in Rum casks for a Rye-forward, fruity note.

Karthik Sudhir was an athlete in India, excelling at track and field. Then he was a software developer (we think we know where, but let’s keep that a secret). Now, he has come to his senses and devoted himself to the higher calling of developing premium Spirits brands to make the world a better place — thus Phenomenal Spirits was launched in June of 2017. The Ron Izalco brand of Rum was their first release and has been very well-received. RY3 was their second brand release in 2020, no doubt with more to come.

Ry3 Rum Cask Finish Whiskey is a blend of three sourced Rye Whiskies using three different mash bills and aged for three different time-spans. These three Spirits are married and finished together in their own Izalco Rum casks. The combination delivers a delicious combination of fruit, spice, and vanilla. And since it’s bottled at an impressive 50% ABV, you will taste every drop. And that strength makes it a brilliant cocktail base too.

Appearance / Color
Golden Amber

Nose / Aroma / Smell
This is a powerful dram, so the notes of Rye spice, vanilla, espresso, and Meyer lemon zest leap into the nostrils.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
Taken neat, the palate is intense with dark chocolate, toffee pudding, more Rye spices, sultanas, oak, yuca, and cinnamon sticks.

Finish
The finish is long, hot, and drying.

Rye sparked the first revolution after the American Independence. It was called the Whiskey Rebellion, and it arose when the government tried to tax Whiskey and enforce the taxation on distillers. The lesson here? Don't mess with a Whiskey drinker's dram.
A decade ago there were only 6 brands of Rye Whiskey hailing from Kentucky, nowadays there are more than 50!
Rye - think of it as Bourbon's edgier cousin. It’s known for what many call a spicy or fruity flavor. Rye (distilled from at least 51% Rye) is not on the sweet side and tends to have a spicier body. That’s why the character of a cocktail made from Rye, instead of Bourbon, is drier.
George Washington famously loved his Rye Whiskey. In fact, after he served as the first president of the United States, he returned to his farm at Mount Vernon and started a small Rye distillery of his own.
