Astonishing Rye Whiskey for cozy evenings.

When it comes to Whiskeys, Jimmy and Eddie Russell are the Alpha and the Omega. Together, they have almost a century of tenure. Master Distiller Jimmy has been helming the Wild Turkey Distillery since 1954 and the man, who has reportedly never been drunk, is a real Bourbon aristocrat. Whatever he and his son touch turn to gold. So, let's call them the Midases of Whiskey.

This time, they hand-picked the best barrels of Rye Whiskey after at least six years of aging. What ended up in the bottle is pure poetry of almond, pepper and allspice flavors. Russell's Reserve 6 YO Small Batch Rye Whiskey is, first of all, a mouthful, but mostly a top-notch Spirit made using an ancient recipe. The aforementioned barrels are American oak charred with a #4 char (yes, the famous alligator category). The Whiskey is bottled by hand and is one of the top six Rye Whiskies (according to Drink Spirits). Earning the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition is also something worth mentioning. It's a Whiskey one should drink slowly, enjoying all the little surprises it brings with every sip.

Rye sparked the first revolution after the American Independence. It was called the Whiskey Rebellion, and it arose when the government tried to tax Whiskey and enforce the taxation on distillers. The lesson here? Don't mess with a Whiskey drinker's dram.
A decade ago there were only 6 brands of Rye Whiskey hailing from Kentucky, nowadays there are more than 50!
During the fire of 2000, more than 900,000 gallons of Whiskey caught fire and spilled, setting a local forest on fire, poisoning a local stream, and saturating local limestone deposits with flaming alcohol, causing them to explode.
George Washington famously loved his Rye Whiskey. In fact, after he served as the first president of the United States, he returned to his farm at Mount Vernon and started a small Rye distillery of his own.
Rye - think of it as Bourbon's edgier cousin. It’s known for what many call a spicy or fruity flavor. Rye (distilled from at least 51% Rye) is not on the sweet side and tends to have a spicier body. That’s why the character of a cocktail made from Rye, instead of Bourbon, is drier.
