All roads lead to Rum.

Travel broadens the mind and the Spirit. If you’re on a budget when it comes to time or money, West Indies Rum & Cane Merchants, a single cask Rum label of Crucial Drinks, is here to help. The idea behind their operation is they select Rums from lesser known distilleries all across the Rum producing world and bottle them once the Spirit has reached the age that perfectly represents the country. Beware, each release is limited to just one barrel, so you better book your flight soon!

We’ll start our journey in Guyana, a country that has a great deal to offer. They have been harvesting sugar cane there since the 16th century and you can figure out for yourself what that means. Rum-a-plenty! Although the quantity of production slowed down a bit in the last century, the quality is still there, yes sir. Guyanan Rums are very fruity, rich and distinctive, among the fullest in body of all the Caribbean Rums.

This exclusive Guyana XO is bottled from a single barrel and just by looking at the elegant, unique bottle, you can see, it preserves something really special. No artificial colouring, no chill filtration, of course. Who needs that? What sets it apart from the crowd is the amazing, genuine flavour. It’s one of the most complex, yet balanced Rums of the world. A beautiful base for cocktails and long drinks, but honestly, this spirit has all the character to proudly stand on its own. Life is short and the world is wide. It would be ashamed if you didn’t experience it to the fullest. Bon Voyage!

SmartAss Corner: Did you know that Guyana is the only English-speaking country in South America? The Brits are also responsible for opening the first local distilleries back in 17th century. Funny enough, despite the fact they are technically part of South America, the Guyanese consider themselves Caribbean.
