Royal Salute is born in the Strathisla Distillery, which is the oldest continuously operating distillery in Scotland. It was founded in 1786. In 1953, Queen Elizabeth was coronated with a royal diadem festooned with rubies, sapphires, and emeralds, greeted with a 21-gun salute. Just in case you were wondering where the name came from.

The minimum age of the Whiskies that comprise this Malt Blend is 21-year-old. The porcelain bottle is created by the famous British ceramics house of Wade. This special edition was designed to celebrat arrival of The Chinese New Year. Mind the beautifully done traditional Chinese symbols on the label, including the dragon and lucky knotwork. So besides a Whisky, fit for royalt, you can expect health and prosperity to be brought to you and your family in the coming year.

Categories of Scotch Whisky: Single malt, Blended malt (formerly called Vatted malt), blended, single grain and blended grain Scotch.
Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made in Scotland using a pot still distillation process at a single distillery, with malted barley as the only grain ingredient. It must be matured in oak casks in Scotland for at least three years (most Single Malts are matured longer, though).
First-class Whiskies are taxed not only by the state but also by the angels. This refers to the 4% of Whisky that evaporates from the barrels every year, a phenomenon known as the angel’s share.
90% of all Scotch Whisky released in the market is a blend. That’s a hell of a lot.
Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.
90% of all Scotch Whiskies sold are Blends.
