Only the best barrel-aged Dominican Rum goes in to Ron Bermudez 12 Aniversario, so only the best comes out of the bottle.
The Rums of the Dominican Republic are ruled by “Three Bs,” Bermudez, Barcelo, and Brugal … three companies that control the vast majority of Dominican Rum output. Bermudez Rums are all made by J. Armando Bermudez & Co, founded in 1852 and based in Santiago de los Caballeros. The company is still run by the Bermudez family to this day using the same production methods.
Over the years they have expanded production to include a dozen Rum varieties and locally available Gins, Vodkas, Whisky, and liqueurs.
Ron Bermudez 12 Aniversario is the top of the line product coming out of Bermudez. Yes, technically it is a blend, but while some blended spirits are cobbled together jalopies… hideous Frankenstein Monsters of left-over bits and pieces from our drinks … that is so NOT this Rum. This is a blend of all the best barrels from across Bermudez’ Rum inventory. Only the best goes in, so only the best comes out.
This is a barrel-aged Rum, but you may notice that there is no age statement on the bottle. Frankly, that’s because they just don’t know how old it is. But since this is a hand selected, limited edition gleaned from the other Rums that are 12YO and older, let’s just go with 12YO and call it good. And “call it good” is exactly what you will do. This is a keeper. Smooth and pleasantly sweet, it has all of the flavor and character you want and just may be the best rum in Dominica, bar none.
