A Bartender’s weapon of choice.

Rittenhouse is one of few Rye Whiskeys that was available throughout the dark age of Rye, where it was nearly impossible to get a bottle of Rye. Rittenhouse was known as the weapon of choice in the arsenal of many cocktail masters who knew what Rye can deliver. Rittenhouse is a modern Rye that includes the roots of Pennsylvania (Monongahela) style Rye even though it’s being produced in Kentucky by Heaven Hill.

Rittenhouse Straight Rye is bottled in bond which means that it is a product of a single distillery, made in a single season in a single year. It is aged for at least 4 years and is mostly made from Rye mash. Recently updated with a 1930’s label this Rye Whisky is a monumental creation.

In 1996, more than 90,000 barrels, and one of their production buildings were destroyed in a fire. That's almost 24 million bottles-worth of premium American Whiskey. Rivers of flaming spirit were flowing in and around the distillery.
Heaven Hill is a well respected distillery, even amongst their competitors. After the fire of 1996, the local major distilleries Jim Beam and Brown Forman shared their stills with Heaven Hill while they rebuilt.
A decade ago there were only 6 brands of Rye Whiskey hailing from Kentucky, nowadays there are more than 50!
Rye sparked the first revolution after the American Independence. It was called the Whiskey Rebellion, and it arose when the government tried to tax Whiskey and enforce the taxation on distillers. The lesson here? Don't mess with a Whiskey drinker's dram.
Rye - think of it as Bourbon's edgier cousin. It’s known for what many call a spicy or fruity flavor. Rye (distilled from at least 51% Rye) is not on the sweet side and tends to have a spicier body. That’s why the character of a cocktail made from Rye, instead of Bourbon, is drier.
George Washington famously loved his Rye Whiskey. In fact, after he served as the first president of the United States, he returned to his farm at Mount Vernon and started a small Rye distillery of his own.
