Scott,
Great full flavor, but not quite as smooth as similar quality whiskies in the category. Still enjoyable
William,
Sweet on the nose and palette followed by some spice. Brilliant color.
William,
Sweet yet spicy. Great warmth to it. I would say that this is one of my favorite Irish Whiskey's.
Tyler,
N: Raucous aromas bursting with berries, figs, fresh baked bread, cranberry tartness.
P: Sweet, balsamic-like acidity. strawberries, chocolate, spice, slightly grassy.
F: shorter finish than I remember from the 12. Biscuit, jammy, more oak.
This has less of the rich, round buttery and nutty qualities that I think of in the 12 year old, but the balance of the malty sweetness and bright fruity tart qualities from the finishing barrel is amazing.
Michael,
Smells of vanilla and slightly sweet. Not too much oak initially, but I don't care for the aftertaste of barrel it leaves. I generally don't go for whisky that makes my tongue tingle.
Kurt,
Very delicious. Sweet but not too sweet with nice complexity.
Chris,
Golden orange hue and nose... but when you dare to taste her, she bites back. All the spice and fire you didn't know you were missing in Redbreast, then fades to a long, slow simmer of dried fruit, port, and rum raisin ice cream. Interestingly, water brought out more spice, clove, some smoke, and autumn bonfires.
James,
Wow, what a great example of what Irish whiskey can be. The traditional pot still Irish flavors are wonderfully enhanced by time spent in Lustau casks. I will definitely get this bottle again.
Andrew,
Too many competing flavors that failed to achieve the balance I would expect from Redbreast. The 12 year is MUCH superior
Andrew,
Orange zest dominates the nose. The creamy taste is quite enjoyable. Figs were more dominant than the nuttiness- a more nutty flavor would’ve been nice.
Long, smooth finish. A good sipper but the 12 year is still my favorite
Scott,
Love it!
guest,
Tastes almost like cough syrup
Lot of confusing flavors, nothing sticks out
Tastes almost rubbery at the end? Or eraser?
Smells good, tastes meh
Will,
Great spice and great flavour. The orange zest really comes through with the sweeter flavours
Martin,
Liking this allot - taste seems to last ages.
Joe,
This may just be the smoothest Whiskey I've ever had. I couldn't agree more to the other reviews of Buttery Smooth. Just amazing.
Ken,
On my palate Redbreast Listau is good, but not the glowing specimen it’s made out to be. I taste toasted sweet corn, peppery spices, and a dry sweetness. 6 out of 10 stars. I believe the regular edition of Redbreast to be a significant improvement.
Sunni,
One word. Buttery.
It’s amazing. Just try it now!
Mike,
Buttery smooth, one of the best Irish Whiskeys I've tasted.
Jared,
Deliciously strong with wonderful feeling from start to finish
Audrey,
I was so excited for this Irish. Disappointing. More cask strength. Tons of burn. Red Breast 12 is good, and I love sherry finish, so thought this would elevate. Just didn't do it for me. Was more drinkable with ice, but not a buy at this price. Dang.
Robert,
So good, so sweet and tasty. Pure class for me
Brett,
Smooth and sweet. Wasn’t sure I’d like it but was impressed. Nice nose on it and a great finish
Chris,
Very good! I do taste the pepper fairly heavy but only for a short time. Nice, sweet and smooth. Can’t wait to try the other Redbreast products.
Todd,
For the aroma, you get some fruitiness that is missing from the Redbreast 12, along with some toffee, really quite nice. The sweetness is in the taste as well, but not too much - and it still has some of the Redbreast overall flavor and richness that I enjoy. Has some punch in the finish as well, though I don't think I'd want to add water or ice. Overall the Redbreast 12 Cask Strength is probably better - but I could see being in the mood for this one from time to time.
Lawrence,
Redbreast but not as smooth and a bit more cinnamon and sherry.
Jyrki,
Redbreast! Need I say more.
Mark,
Sweet, more of a pepper taste, but smooth.
guest,
Very smooth, super easy to drink without ice and without a mixer. This made for a great bottle to share with my friends at a wedding
Andrew,
Not too shabby. Changed to an 8. It grows on you.
Matt,
Sugar and vanilla nose. Notes of baked goods and orange with some caramel.
John,
While the 21 yr old RedBreast is a work of art, and arguably the finest pot still Irish whiskey, this bottle makes a strong claim as the 2nd best Redbreast, and this one of the finest Irish whiskeys one can purchase. It certainly is value for money, comparable with scotch costing multiples. The Sherry finish propels it.
Toni,
Tasty irish!
Matthew,
Color is reddish Amber. Nose is pot still oil, oak, and a little sweet, with subtle fruit notes (fig?). First sip is mildly oily, with contrasting notes of pepper and honey. Finish is moderately long with pepper and spice lingering. Solid, but I found the 12 Year Cask Strength to have a better flavor profile at a similar price point.
Deven,
Most people I know love it, I’m just not a huge fan. Good but not quite worth the price tag for me.
Bill,
Small bite, has nasal effect. Hints of caramel
Craig,
As part of our latest tasting box, smoother than the Locke's and without the smokiness (which my wife liked better, but I prefer the smokey aspect). Still has the bite of an irish whiskey but not such a bad thing. Great flavor and complexity.
Darin,
Amazing flavor and complexity.
Jason,
Smooth and caramel.
guest,
The best.
Joe,
Great Irish whiskey
John,
Has a bit of a bite in the finish... personally I prefer the 12 year old bottle of Redbreast, but this is a fine addition to my home bar.
Matt,
Possibly my favorite whiskey at the moment, both smooth and delectable.
Andrew,
Hit the spot for me
Harrison,
Pretty underwhelmed by this one. It definitely has a sherry flavor followed by cinnamon. I think I would just forget what I’m drinking if someone asked.
guest,
Smooth simple. Oily. Easy going. Rich in flavours
David,
This was a lovely surprise. Easy drinking at 80 proof.
Jason,
Without water this is one dimensional smelling and tasting like a multi grain wood fired bread, add water and the caramel apple pastry comes out. Not really complex and for the price this is average. Will add there is an initial spicy note and it does have a decent finish.
Vincent,
Fairly simple, but very smooth. has a good frutiness and maltiness to it. the maltiness really shines through after you open it up a bit
Aaron,
Tasty and creamy. Lots of flavor for an Irish whiskey.
ELizabeth,
Smooth with great pre and post taste
Stephanie,
Was great after it water down a bit. What a great balance of sweet to spice.
Duncan,
Very good, smooth... great representation of the upper end Irish Whisky
Stefanie,
Just sweet enough. Definitely good for savoring due to its richer finish.
Lee,
It’s an Irish whiskey...
Jonathan,
My favorite flavor from the Irish sampler. A smooth start with a lot of sherry in the middle and a nice fruity finish. Would recommend, but for the price I would shop more.
Angela,
Standard whiskey. Nothing special at all to justify the price
Bradley,
Easily tied for the best Irish Whiskey I’ve had. Rich dark fruit and a touch of spice with the buttery shortbread cookie that redbreast is known for. Amazing!
Thomas,
My favorite so far
Seth,
The flavor spiral is right on. Smooth, not much peat, very buttery. Goes down easy, and a bit too quickly. Definitely worth having a bottle on hand. One of the best whiskeys I’ve tried.
Ron,
Aroma: Sherry
Flavor: Creamy and fruity
Finish: a little spice
Enjoyed sipping but having trouble describing the individual flavors
Owen,
Tasty for sure!
Scott,
Not a big fan of Irish Whiskey but this didn’t have to bad of a flavor.
Luke,
Nose: lots of sherry and fruit some lingering spice
Taste: sweet, sherry and dark chocolate, some spice
Proof: 92
Score: 9.75/10
Chris,
heavy sherry flavor on my palate - not to my preference
Stephen,
Traditional Irish Whiskey flavoring and profile. Smooth, with a decent bite on the back end. Overall a very nice drink.
Patrick,
Standard whiskey. Nothing special at all to justify the price
Stephen,
Really tasty.
Jeff,
Smooth and flavorful. Very nice
Leif-Johan,
I've always had a sweet spot for Irish Whiskey, and this just might get the podium for it's category in my home bar. Incredibly well balanced - there is enough of everything and not too much of anything. Very subtle taste, had a hard time pinpointing specific flavors except sweet caramel. Finish could be longer. Like driving a sports car at low speed - you know it could be a lot more flashy but then you wouldn't have time to enjoy the view
Daniel,
Honestly, this is my new favorite whiskey. Sweet, spicy ,and mixed fruit that are not too strong It has a great mix of flavors and complexity, and a lasting sherry/fig note to savor to the end!
Michael,
Interesting. I don't know what it is. There's a little bit of sweetness, a little bit of spice and some flavors that I'm not familiar with. And lot's of them. Not my favorite Irish Whiskey... but it could be. I'll need more
James,
Much in the way of citrus, with a tad of sweetness and spice to finish it off. Nicely done.
Grant,
Very smooth.
Robert,
Wow. This was bland. Can’t believe how hyped it is for the flavor. Won’t be trying this one again....
Michael,
Great whiskey just a bit more special
Israel,
I think I'm just not that well at appreciating Irish Whiskeys. The palate was very creamy and fruity. However, it didn't sit well on the tongue. I'm sure others would like it but this didn't work well for my taste.
Sabrina,
Elusive to describe for relative newbies but very good.
Mike,
Tasted side by side with Redbreast 12, which was not the best decision. Less aromatic and flavorful than the 12, although the heat of the ABV difference and a bit of pepper on the palate does redeem it some.
Jack,
Really good Irish whiskey
Craig,
Very smooth.
Wayne,
Amazing
Travis,
Delicious from the start, I have tried redbreast 12 & 15 ( not the 21 because Flaviar shipping is shit) and I enjoyed it more then both of those , it is smooth and tasty
Brian,
Wow. Nuff sed.
Antti,
It is an outstanding, rich, Single Malt Irish Whiskey with a woody birth; while a creamy life; leads to a long death.
Micah,
Best thing that comes from Ireland! Hands Down! It’s amazing!
Ryan,
Great sherry pop and goes down smooth. Incredible value as well.
Russell,
Delicious
Deja,
Kind of falls short on the finish.
Jason,
Best I've ever had.
Brian,
Great Irish Whiskey. Love the notes from the Sherry finish!
Caroline,
One of my favorites
Parviz,
Nice smooth with a butterscotch finish. Told all my friends about this one
Richard,
A more savory Irish than usual. It may not seem to make sense, but the word that comes to mind is "creamy". The front is sweet, like your typical single pot still, but that gives way to this buttery smooth middle. There's a nice spice on the back.
Richard,
Starts off with the classic Irish nose: sweet and smooth. Taste is standard shortbread but with a rich undercurrent, almost buttery. The back end has a mild spice and heat, but not a ton of bite. This is very easy to drink neat, very enjoyable.
Rolf,
My new favorite, works on every occasion and events, even sipping a tuesday evening! :-)
Perry,
a favorite in the Irish category. Lots of flavor and a bit spicy.
Kevin,
One of, if not the best, irish whiskey I’ve ever had. I once got to try an old Midleton that came close to beating it but so far I think this is it. New fave will definitely buy again. I usually try to savor a good bottle and make it last but I couldn’t keep away from this one!
Jim,
Had a nice tasted that lingered. Nice sipping good for Irish coffee
Stephen,
Egg! Learned a lot about these beverages while looking. Thanks for that.
Andreas,
simply a fantastic whiskey!
guest,
Massive mouthful, big flavour and oily with a long finish. The additional sherry finish can definitely be nosed and tasted
Brian,
This is a great bottle! Love the finish.
Jimi,
The sherry finish is a nice touch. Take your time with this one. Gets better with each sip.
Lorenzo,
Semi-sweet, with a spicy lasting finish. This dram has a powerful kick, which could stem from the Spanish oak it's finished in. I enjoyed this will a little water to open it up. Nice, but Redbreast 21 still my overall fav from this distiller.
