Was ok, Orange peel flavor was good. it was a bit overpowering at times. but would probably buy again if my other more preferred rums were out of stock at my local Liquor store. Inexpensive yet enjoyable.
This rum is amazing, i try to reserve it for drinking on the rocks or even straight. A light mix at most because on its own its smooth, sweet, spicy, and really enjoyeable to drink. Maybe on the sweeter side compared to most rums but that doesn't bother me.
My absolute favorite "everyday" rum and the best for under $30. Puts the Bacardi's, Captain Morgan's and other rums to shame. An excellent, inexpensive rum. Buy it now!
This is one of the most excellent rums I've had in the low-to-mid price range. It's smooth and sweet, with a long, mellow finish Pretty much the only rum I like. Buy the Bacardi's for mixing. Use this one for drinking it neat.
My first 10 star rating. Incredible tasting rum. Bought a bottle and finished it in two days with friends. Delicious neat, with a splash of water, on the rocks or with Coke. Looking forward to the next bottle and making some cocktails. Very sweet. Smooth. Goes down very easy. Not as complex as some people might like, but for me it is the best drink I've ever had.
Nose: Very citrussy. So much orange peel. Icing sugar, waves of fruit. Perhaps a little cough sweet note too.
Palate: Sweet, viscous, more orange. Marmalade.
Finish: Molasses, orange peels, marmalade, spice.
Overall: Like an incredible rum old-fashioned,
The quality and flavor in this rum marked with this low of a price is steal in every sense of the deal. This rum will definitely have you singing sea shanties by the end of the night. Drink responsibly you scallywags!! If flavor is what you seek, then this Pyrat will make one helluva companion.
Tried this on a recommendation as we try to venture into the world of Rum (we have been priced out of Bourbon a bit). Okay but thin. Worth the try, but probably won't get again.
The nose definitely has primarily vanilla. Sip this one real light first to allow the taste buds to get accustomed to the alcohol. The second taste is where the subtle complexity comes out. sugar sweet and oak come out in the after taste as you sit and contemplate.
Wonderfully smooth, easy drinking. A tad sweet, but drinking straight is the way to go! Not quite a favorite, but definitely a good one to try, savor, and enjoy...
I found it much more enjoyable sipping with some ice to dilute it down, which brought out the citrus and sweet vanilla flavors. Not smooth enough to enjoy straight, but a great value for a novice sipper not looking to spend much.
Sweet but not overly so, great set of flavours that develop as you drink and even wonderful, if it's not sacrilege to suggest it, with a mixer! Wonderful stuff
