A solid blend of Kentucky Straight Bourbons that just might ring your bell.

Umberto Luchini was an event and marketing manager right out of school, eventually landing at Campari where over more than a decade he rose to Chief Marketing Officer. Not a bad place to learn the Spirits business. Then, in January of 2017 he launched Wolf Spirits. Initially using sourced Spirits, Wolf Spirits Distillery opened in Eugene, Oregon, shortly thereafter. Now their products are a combination of sourced and in-house produced. They currently have three brands: Blood x Sweat x Tears Vodka, Tom of Finland Vodka, and Puncher’s Chance Bourbon.

Speaking of chance… Wolf Spirits launched Puncher’s Chance Bourbon in 2020 — smack dab in the middle of the pandemic. A bold move. And they got traction quickly. In the first four months since the release they shipped sixty thousand bottles and thirty private casks. Umberto says that Mike Tyson was one of his inspirations and Wolf Spirits CEO recruited famed Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) announcer Bruce Buffler to endorse the project.

The is a blend of Kentucky Straight Bourbons of three different ages — four, five, and six years old — bottled at 45% ABV in an interesting blacked bottle with a tiger emblazoned on the side.

Bourbon was declared "The Official Spirit of America" by an Act of Congress signed by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964.

Pinhook’s high-proof Bourbon won Gold at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, while the Straight Rye Whiskey won Double Gold the following year. In 2021, their Bourbon War Vertical Series 5 Year and the 2021 Flagship Bourbon won a Gold Medal each, with a Double Gold going to their Tiz Rye Time Vertical Series 5 Year. Pinhook is evidently doing something right!

Straight Bourbon must be matured for at least 2 years. If a bottle has no age statement, it’s at least 4 years old.

Limestone Branch Distillery, which produces Yellowstone Bourbon, also makes Minor Case Bourbon and Bowling & Burch Gin.

Bourbon only needs to be placed in a new oak container for a few seconds to be called Bourbon. Fresh from the still and unaged Bourbon is called a White Dog. Recently, many of the larger distillers have started packaging this harsh, clear grain spirit for sale.
At any given time, there are more barrels of Bourbon in Kentucky than there are people. The population of the Bluegrass State is about 4.4 million. Today there are more than 5 million barrels of Bourbon sitting in the rick-houses of that Old Kentucky Home. That’s nearly 300 bottles of Bourbon per person, or about 60 gallons each.
