Brian,
A little rough on the nose but not overly so. I got the vanilla and honey but they were very mild. The finish was too short. I would have liked it to last a little longer. Overall, smooth and easy to drink. I prefer it over ice as it seems to bring out a little more of the flavor.
Bradley,
It was an ok selection, I found it to be quite average to many other Irish Whiskey choices I can make. The price was appreciated but now I know why it is that cheap.
Jakub,
Sweet smell. Not really any distinct flavour but is very smooth, almost velvety. Will buy. Only tasted.
Nicholas,
I was very skeptic of this at first but after trying it I was blown away, very smooth with a slight sweetness. I really enjoyed this.
Dan,
Notes of vanilla that I really like. Overall a good sipper. I enjoy a pour over a large ice cube in the evening.
Matt,
Really enjoyed this
Moorish taste and chewy texture for want of a better description. Immediately recognisable as an Irish whisky. Instant hit of vanilla and sweetness transitioning to floral notes. Some green fruit and then finishing with a slightly bitter caramel/ biscuit flavour.
John,
Smooth everyman's sipping whiskey. I really like the support they give to the Tunnel to Towers foundation as well!
Bryan,
Feels like I just got knocked out by Poirer after drinking this.
Russell,
Excellent whiskey, a smoother alternative to Jameson Original which is a constant in my cabinet. I’ll definitely buy this again!
Michael,
A nice sipping whiskey. This will be a new staple bottle in my bar. Hints of vanilla and caramel with a smooth finish.
Michael,
I really enjoyed this. I was Skeptical about this, someone told me it was harsh but after trying it my wife and I finished half the bottle.
Christian,
Good mid-level whiskey, love to mix with.
Jay,
A very wonderful mixing and sipping whiskey. It's light, sweet, and very much vanilla. Like McGregor, it hits heavy for it's weight class. Put this in your home bar as it has a place.
Sean,
Shots or mixing. Pretty much sums it up.
David,
It’s awesome and very very easy to drink
Analea,
Sooooo lovely. Just a nice calm, easy sip. Sweet but not overly so and easy to enjoy daily
Sean,
Good whisky for a great price
James,
Honey, caramel, new wood, vanilla. Good taste and relatively smooth.
Courtney,
Raw whiskey burn
Christopher,
Smoother than Jameson's standard. A great whiskey for the modest price.
guest,
Smooth. Easy to drink. Vanilla lingers just right.
Tyler,
Smooth and very drinkable, tough to beat for the price.
Aaron,
Smooth. Great flavor
Zdeněk,
Smooth, very easy going. Doesn't have too much character.
Gavin,
For the price a very fine whiskey gets a bad press but very drinkable
Dan,
Very smooth. Only went to have a little taste. Ended up having four doubles. Reasonable price also.
guest,
Pretty Smooth. My go to Irish Whiskey!
guest,
Super smooth!
J.,
Surprisingly smooth. Very drinkable. Not a bottle that you'd be embarrassed to share.
Timothy,
My wife rolled her eyes when I purchased bottle. She thought it would end up sitting next to my Jorge Posada red wine bottle. This is not a gimmick with an MMA's fighter's name slapped on it.
This is a smooth tasting whiskey that rivals Jameson not only in taste but carries a nice price for a quality beverage. Watch out John Jameson.
Greg,
I mostly Irish but I've never really drunk Irish whiskey in the past. Coming from an MMA fighter, I didn't expect much out of it but was pleasantly surprised how smooth it is. Good bang for the buck.
Siddharth,
In all honesty, there are two parts to a whisky - the aroma, and the flavour. Proper Twelve offers absolutely nothing in the aroma department, with or without water. When it comes to the flavour, there is no complexity at all, especially the after taste. You don't feel many discernible notes outside the overload on alcohol when rolling the whisky on your tongue as well.
Some would say I am expecting a lot from a cheaper whisky, but failing to deliver at all has costed this whisky in my book. Definitely would not recommend.
Jason,
My favorite "every day" whiskey. Smooth with an easy sweetness that isn't too much. Perfect for the price.
Mike,
7.5
Surprising for the price point. There is no crazy explosion of flavor but is pretty easy to drink. I personally rather have this over Jameson (but prefer Jameson IPA Caskmates over this.) so it is a fantastic whisky at this price point. I’m very happy with it and I plan to replace it when it is gone.
*My wife (a non-whisky drinker) did not like it. So if you are a whisky drinker on the fence. Pull the trigger.
It’s a nice conversation bottle as well for cheap.
* I normally enjoy my whisky straight. This was one of the few whiskies I preferred on the rocks.
Robert,
Wow!, right out of the bottle. Smooth, flavorful, TASTY. It actually tastes like, I'll have another!
I'm sorry what I actually mean is you won't like it. Keep drinking the Irish you already are.
Nick,
very smooth, but it clears itself off the pallet as fast as it got there.
Jason,
Was surprisingly good. Nice balanced flavor with strong notes of honey and a little vanilla.
Westlee,
Overall, one of my favorite Irish Blended Whiskeys in terms of value. Not overly sweet, good balance of spice and heat, and subtle complexity. This compares favorably to Jameson Black Barrel, at a savings of about 30%. For under $30, you can't go wrong with this one.
Orlando,
Little brash, taste really young. Good for mixing with club soda.
Alex,
Very impressed by this the first time I had it. A little smokey for an Irish whiskey, and while there is a little bite, it is overall smooth with all the flavors one would expect. I try to keep a bottle of this in my stock.
Dean,
Very smooth, great taste and exceeded my expectations
Michael,
This is a decent whiskey. Smooth and sweet. Not much spice.
Brandon,
Bad.
guest,
We thought it was super intense. It was also our first time trying whiskey, so I’m excited to revisit it on my own. Edit: Upon revisiting, after experiences with many other whiskeys, it is safe to say that this is now my go-to Irish whisky. Very smooth, and extremely drinkable straight.
David,
Tried this neat tonight and found it a bit harsh with a bitter after taste. Would be okay in an Irish Buck or Mule.
Michael,
Decent, a bit too light in taste.
Ryan,
Bland. It’s going to be a mixer and I won’t buy again, but I’ll at least finish the bottle slowly.
Timothy,
A smooth whiskey. Believe it or not , adding a little club soda really brought out some flavor . I'll be buying it again, I'm sure.
guest,
For some reason I can drink this everyday. It is by far my favorite drink right now
Michael,
the best
Mark,
Smooth but not much initial flavor
Not hot or spicy
Flavor doesn’t really develop over time like I’d expect
Nose really improved and developed some spice and great nose
Smooth throughout but not much flavor
Damien,
Good, but Jameson is still slightly better
guest,
Very nice Irish whiskey, and fairly reasonably priced. Not quite at the top of the pile but very drinkable
Paul,
Smooth and very sweet. The finish is fairly short and I didnt taste any of the woodiness I was expecting. A good overall whiskey though for the price
Cortland,
Fantastic for the price
David,
Super tough to drink. Metallic flavor with a strong aftertaste. Had to have a mixer...
Antonio,
I think for the money you can't get a better tasting Irish whiskey if that is your thing. I have purchased half a dozen bottles and tried whiskey's from Austrailia, Canada, Japan etc. This is the only one I have bought twice and I will buy it again when that one goes. It is a high quality and full of flavor.
Steve,
I think I found my new budget Irish whiskey. Honestly reminds me a little bit of Crown Royal, which can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for in a whiskey. But I mean it in the best way, since this is cheaper.
Matthew,
Great whiskey - on par with Jameson and Tully. A little more spice/heat - but definitely a quality spirit.
Angel,
Not enjoyable. Tinny metallic butter cookie. Very thin.
guest,
Smells of the comfort of summer by a pool (smells like chlorine.. in a good way?) tastes smooth, sweet with a crisp finish
Matthew,
Had a glass once at a bar, neat. Was expecting similar to Jameson, but I was in for a real treat! Smooth, very subtle burn, no overly sweet overtone. Just clean, smooth malted barley with just a touch of honey and vanilla. Highly recommend!
Nathan,
Really affordable and solid irish whiskey
Dane,
I really enjoyed this whiskey.. Nicely priced and smooth from the first sip to the last. Always one to be stocked in the cabinet...
Justin,
Wow! Not really a non-American whiskey drinker but ¡hey! This is good whiskey! Reminds me of Uncle Nearest 1884 with less ‘peanut brittle’. Really good whiskey! Don’t care if an MMA champ is pushing it.
Billy,
Very nice entry whiskey for the price. Smooth and easy to drink. For the target audience it's a hole in one. Not enough going on for me to me to want to try it again.
Beau,
I'm not experienced with Irish whiskies, just Jameson. That said, I found this to be very good. I'm a beginner at this, so 'nose' and 'notes' aren't my things; just dipping my toe in the water to see what I like.
Kyle,
Love how smooth this is when cold, also at room temperature. It has a nice burning sensation, but not over powering. Great with Dr. Pepper if you even use a chaser.
Anthony,
Super smooth. Beautiful flavor profile. Drank my bottle entirely too quick!
Rusty,
Good Flavor!
Roger,
What a surprise, a truly great tasting daily drinking. Surprisingly smooth and light.
guest,
Ok
William,
great vanilla flavour honey toasted flavour
WESLEY,
Solid budget bottle. Better than I thought it would be.
Glenn,
This is a good Irish for its price point. My initial taste started with alcohol burn. But as I continued to drink it I could taste the sweetness. Mystery pallet may have been off. I recommend, especially if you are on a budget.
Blake,
For $20 you can’t go wrong here! Sweet with honey and vanilla but balanced with toasted wood. I know these are the descriptions on the bottle, but they’re accurate. I recently shared this with a number of whiskey drinkers, who are well familiar with the base Jameson, and everyone agreed they prefer this over the metallic flavors of Jameson. Great whiskey for parties and introductions for newcomers to whiskey, and those who love to explore.
billy,
Very good taste. A knock out. 😉
Jonathan,
At First I thought it was sweet but after a couple sips you realize its all Flavor. Its has a really nice finish you can easily drink half the bottle its that good.
guest,
Love the vanilla notes.
Todd,
Outclassed both Jameson and most other mainstream Irish whiskeys I’ve had.
Daniel,
I am shocked at how good this whiskey is at this price point! I tried it neat and with a couple drops of water, liked it both ways. 1 or 2 years more aging this stuff would give $75 bottles a run for their money! I will buy it again and keep it on hand.
Daniel,
Smooth with a decent amount of peat. Do not like the celebrity attached. If it wasn't for him, I'd buy this.
Bryan,
I decided to give it a try and didn't want to like it because I'm not a fan of McGregor, but it's really good. Excellent on the rocks. Very smooth, even easy for my wife (who is not a whiskey drinker) to drink straight.
Jon,
Very good for the price
Peter,
nice mixing whisky , a little rough for straight drinking
Joe,
This is one of my go-to bottles that is ALWAYS on my shelf. Use it as a mixer, on the rocks, share with friends or enjoy alone, it never dissappoints
Jerald,
Very smooth and mellow..would be a great starter Scotch
Chris,
Average Irish whiskey, no huge stand out flavors. That being said it’s a solid whiskey at a good price
Todd,
Bland, run of the mill Irish whiskey. Easily drinkable with no certain tasting notes.
Jim,
Disappointing Irish Whisky
Kevin,
A little harsh at the end
Dan,
I like Proper 12, especially after I get home from a 12 hour nightshift; I'm not sure why Business Insider & others trash it (?) I didn't even know it was McGregor's.
I also think Dewar's White Label is good 👌 especially for the money.
Maybe it's because I'm a 1/4 Irish lol
Patrick,
On the lighter side for an Irish Whiskey. Very smooth.
Mathew,
Very light and the honey definitely comes through to the front on this one.
Dr,
Not bad. My go to when I’m at a sports bar
Aaron,
Vanilla and honey come through nicely. Add a couple drops of water. Sweet and smooth, but not too complex. Still a solid cheap Irish whiskey.
Aaron,
Smooth, crisp finish
James,
Great entry level bottle into the world of Irish Whisky. Lots of flavor and very smooth.
Dave,
Great flavor. Enjoyable.
Thomas,
I very much like this! Good flavor neat or with cola
Kevin,
Love this Irish whiskey. Notes of vanilla and a very smooth finish.
Kyle,
Perfect blend of flavors. Better than Jameson in my opinion. Can’t go wrong with fookin Proper Twelve
Charles,
Very smooth, no heat like usual from regular whiskey. Real easy to enjoy with a good mellow cigar. That's when I enjoy my spirits.
A must have.
Bryan,
My favorite Irish whiskey!
guest,
It was hard to get any distinct flavor or smell out of this whiskey. When I did I mostly got apples and honey with maybe some spice. It was pretty good in an old fashioned.
Flavio,
More bourbon than whisky
Bowen,
It is exactly what you'd think. A decent Irish whiskey, nothing special. I honestly didn't expect it to be as good as it was. If you like Bushmills, you'll like 12.
Justin,
Amazing flavor very easy to drink in just about any setting
Reinier,
Very smooth. Great price point.
Benjamin,
Decent Irish whiskey. NoT my favorite but wI'll keep it in the rotation.
Michael,
Typical Irish. Fairly simple.
Steven,
Good enough for an Irish whiskey, but prefer Bushmill’s 10year for just slightly more.
Derek,
Way better than I expected. Bought this thinking it was going to be a conversation piece and collect dust, but I was pleasantly surprised. Good complexity and linger. Already purchased a second bottle.
James,
Decent budget Irish. Good if you're mixing cocktails. Lacks much of a nose or taste.
Jaztyn,
It’s fairly good for a new whiskey and for price as well
Marcus,
Great smooth taste. Amazing for the price. Another KO for C.M.
Megan,
The fact that a portion of the sales goes to first responders is a plus. Other than that, it's basically Jameson.
guest,
I’ve found this to be a pretty good first try for Conor McGregor. I’ve also found that if you let this sit for about 10-15 min and breathe it is so much more complex. Give it a try, for the price why not.
Amanda,
Too light, not enough complexity in it, I think it would be nice if left developing in the barrels for another few years
Owen,
Not bad, definitely an Irish whiskey
Tom,
Super smooth at the beginning and the finish. Very good for mixing or sipping!
Jose,
It’s like drinking Jameson out of a toaster.
James,
Basically Jameson. Maybe even a little worse
Derek,
Hard to beat for the price! A simple sipping whiskey to enjoy on a cold night.
Dave,
Easily one of the worst tasting whiskeys I've ever had. It deterioratesb quickly after opening for a couple of days. Mostly grain, young, harsh. Acetone/Isopropyl notes. Even at $25 it's overpriced.
John,
Tastes like Jameson to me
guest,
Smooth, light and without a hard bite.
Grant,
Luke,
Nose: grain, hints of honey
Taste: honey sweet, hint of vanilla, some wood flavors, light pear taste, some alcohol burn
Paul,
Smooth and good taste for the money. One of our good staples in the liquor cabinet.
Don,
Not bad for the price
Cory,
Good flavor and smoothness, especially for the price point
Patrick,
Not bad kinda rough
jonathan,
Very mellow and smooth. Perfect neat.
jonathan,
Very mellow and smooth perfect neat.
Anne,
Wonderfully smooth.
Bryan,
Awesome whiskey! New staple in the home bar.
Kevin,
Actually very smooth!!! Was happily surprised with this sitting in the backyard after work.
Gunner,
Damn good for the price point.
Brandon,
I really like the taste
Abbey,
Definitely a whiskey for the masses. Not a bad flavor, very smooth and easy to drink. Recommend for the novice palate or someone new to the wonders of whiskey. I like the fact that proceeds go towards first responders as I am a professional EMT.
Pepper,
A very smooth whiskey, has a great taste, something to sip on with a good cigar.
Matthew,
Very smooth, also enjoyed with a touch of water. Learned part of the proceeds go to First Responders. Like it even more!
Adam,
This is a very Smooth Whiskey that has tastes of vanilla and honey, mild tastes of wood but very gentle to the taste.
