Character Goatson

A real Grappa-based Liqueur from the Veneto region.

You could say Italians know a thing or two about Wine, so it makes sense they’ve got the art of making Grappa down to a t, too. Originally from Northern Italy, this grape-based pomace Brandy is usually enjoyed as a digestive or an after-dinner drink. It’s a protected name in the EU and real Grappa can only come from Italy, San Marino or the Italian part of Switzerland.

It was 1885 when GioBatta Poli moved with his family to Schiavon, a town in the province of Vicenza in Veneto in northern Italy. He wasn’t moving just for the beautiful landscapes and to be closer to Venice, but he knew a new railway would be built to connect Bassano del Grapa to Vicenza. Poli built a tavern there and a few years later, the steam train called Vaca Mora arrived. All the travelers would stop at the tavern for a sip of the famous bitter drink (even the drivers, apparently), and in 1898, Poli Distillery was built on the premises.

Poli Vaca Mora Amaro is based on 16 herbs and aromatic plants that are infused in Grappa and bring you the typical flavors of the Veneto region. This is an aromatic Liqueur that’s spicy and full-bodied with a refreshing aftertaste of mint and liquorice. Bottled at 64 proof, it’s best enjoyed straight after a (hearty) meal in a tulip-shaped glass but you can also use it to make delicious Grappa-based cocktails.
