All the charm and comfort of southern sweet tea with a twist of lemon and a shot of Moonshine to keep the smile on your face.

Philadelphia Distilling was the first craft distiller in Pennsylvania since Prohibition. In 2005 when the law where opened up and the founders applied for their license, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board officials had to make one up because an official form did not yet exist. Their first product was the patriotically-named Bluecoat Gin. And it was a success. Fifteen years later they have expanded, added new stills, and developed a range of quality Gins, Vodka, and even Absinth.

So, why are there three Xs in the name of XXX Shine LiberTea? The same thing it has meant for more than one hundred years. When you are talking about Moonshine, the Xs on the jug or bottle indicated how many times it had been distilled. Generally, three of those Xs was as hard or strong as you could get.

XXX Shine LiberTea is triple-distilled corn Spirit — White Lightning — that has been infused with natural tea, a bit of real honey, and a twist of lemon. It tastes like hometown southern sweet tea with a serious kick. It tastes great on the rocks for a warm afternoon tipple, but mix it 50/50 with lemonade and you have a nicely intoxicating Arnold Palmer cocktail.

By 2016, there were more than 800 micro-distilleries producing craft Gin in the United States, and Philadelphia Distilling is just one of them.
Moonshine Whiskey is distilled from a varied mix of corn and sugar and is aged in Mason jars and jugs for the length of time it takes the customers to get home.
Rye Whiskey is made from mash that is at least 51 percent rye. The grain gives Rye Whiskey its spicy, sometimes peppery, and bitter flavor. It was a big seller before Prohibition, and after decades in obscurity, it’s fashionable again. Fun fact: George Washington distilled Rye Whiskey at Mount Vernon.
Tennessee Whiskey closely parallels Bourbon, but final filtering through sugar-maple charcoal (called the Lincoln County Process) is what some producers say differentiates them. Tennessee Whiskey’s finish is sweeter and smoother than Bourbon.
George Washington was a man of many talents being both a military braniac and the First President of the United States. Interestingly, he also became the largest Whiskey producer in the United States after leaving the politics.
Corn Whiskey is a commercial product that must contain at least 80% corn, be distilled at less than 80% ABV (160 proof), and, if wood-aged, may be aged in either used or new un-charred barrels.
