Robust and earthy Speyside flavors at cask strength.

You know we love a good heritage story, especially if it’s about one of Scotland’s oldest Whisky families. Spanning through generations of Whisky brokers, blenders, bottlers and distillers, this one takes place on the island of Islay. William Walker worked with Islay distillers in the early 20th century and eventually moved to the island. Stanley P. Morrison started working as a trainee Whisky broker in Walker’s company and married his daughter Elizabeth. Besides opening up his own brokerage, Stanley also bought Bowmore, Islay’s oldest distillery. Then, under W. Brian Morrison, Morrison Bowmore became a global brand and it was eventually purchased by Suntory. Today, it’s Jamie and Brian Morrison that own and head Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers that produce several high-end brands, including Old Perth

Old Perth Cask Strength Sherry Cask Matured is the cask strength release of their 12YO expression from the collection that honors Perth, the forgotten Scottish Whisky city and the birthplace of blending. Coming at you at 58.6% ABV, those Sherry flavors develop a robust and earthy quality, supported by powerful ginger and cinnamon spice on the full-bodied palate. Non-chill filtered and with no added coloring, this one won Silver at the 2021 International Spirit Challenge and at the prestigious 2021 IWSC, respectively. If you’re into beautiful Sherry flavors, there’s no going wrong with this one.

Whisky distilling goes way back to 1494 when the first recorded batch was made by a posse of monks who acquired about 60 gallons of barley and decided to turn it into "aqua vitae". They created the first 1,500 bottles of Scotch in History.
Beer and malt Whisky seem to have quite a bit in common. Both drinks begin with malted barley, which deliver the enzymes and sugars needed for fermentation when steeped in hot water. The two go their separate ways at the wash stage, where they're fermented or aged to become the adult beverages you know and love.
Is Scotch always Scottish? What do you think? Yes. The answer is yes.
Can Scotch go bad? Technically, an unopened bottle of Scotch can last forever. Air is the only true evil to Whisky; once the liquid is oxidized it is no longer immortal. After opening, as long as you store your Whisky in a cool, dry place, it will last another 5 years.
90% of all Scotch Whiskies sold are Blends.
Categories of Scotch Whisky: Single malt, Blended malt (formerly called Vatted malt), blended, single grain and blended grain Scotch.
