Member Reviews and Ratings of Old Overholt Straight Rye Whiskey
Andrew,
Good for mixing. I would not drink it on its own
Matthew,
Appearance: Color is amber, decent legs... Nose: Mildly sweet, a little rye spice, some corn, not much identifiable, but not bad either... Palate: Mildly sweet, notes of rye spice, corn sweetness, and vanilla. A little on the sweeter side, lacking the depth of a classic Rye, but no bad flavors... Mouthfeel: A little thin, but not terrible... Finish: Quick, corn and weak rye spice... Overall: For a young, bottom shelf Rye, holds its own, with a coherent though underdeveloped flavor profile. Could be sipped neat, though not a first choice.
Michael,
I prefer something else
Suzanne,
My go-to everyday rye.
Luke,
Nose: cherry sweetness, plenty of alcohol, some char
Taste: hot, some vanilla, quick light aftertaste, some char and spice
Aaron,
The perfect rye to keep on hand for cocktails or to take to a party. Beam-Suntory treats it like the red-headed stepchild, but it remains a solid tasty rye.
