Superb Sherried Speyside Scotch.

Hunter Laing have been premium bottlers for three generations since Grampa Fred founded the business in 1949. Forty years later, they introduced The Old Malt Cask brand, one of the most exclusive and high-class series of single cask bottlings. It is the go-to choice of connoisseurs of Single Malt Scotches, bringing only the best Whisky from their vast stock. And now, the line celebrates its 20th birthday.

This beautiful mahogany Spirit comes from the Glenrothes distillery, founded back in 1878, and it spent a dozen years in a Sherry butt. It’s lavish, spicy and immensely well-sherried. Only 577 bottles of this exceptionally smooth Single Malt have been made, so not only it’s a fantastic representative of Speyside Spirits, it’s also ridiculously rare.

Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made in Scotland using a pot still distillation process at a single distillery, with malted barley as the only grain ingredient. It must be matured in oak casks in Scotland for at least three years (most Single Malts are matured longer, though).
Scotland is home to more than 20 million casks of maturing Whisky. That’s four for every person living there. Nuts!
First-class Whiskies are taxed not only by the state but also by the angels. This refers to the 4% of Whisky that evaporates from the barrels every year, a phenomenon known as the angel’s share.
Is Scotch always Scottish? What do you think? Yes. The answer is yes.
Blended Whiskies are the result of years of craftsmanship and dedication. A master blender does not simply wake up one day with a profound ability to create a cohesive and enjoyable liquid. From nosing the liquid to working out quantities of each different grain and malt to go into the blend, a master blender can take years, if not decades, to train.
The Berry Brothers gave Cutty Sark back to the Edrington Group, when they acquired Glenrothes.
