OKANAGAN

Distillery
Founded in 1970
Okanagan Distillery is another facility with a lot of confusion around the use of its name. In this case, “Okanagan Distillery” is a larger production distillery owned by industry giant Pernod Ricard and located in Winfield, British Columbia.

But there is also a pair of small, craft shops called “Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery” located in the nearby towns of Vernon and Kelowna. These smaller shops are retail-focused and cater to local tourists.

The larger Okanagan Distillery was founded in 1970, but during a large acquisition sweep in the late 1970s, it was gobbled up by Pernod Ricard. Production was shifted to larger, more efficient facilities and the Okanagan Distillery was closed in 1995.
