Good, Better, Retter.

Obsthof Retter has been in operation since 1886. It’s located in Pöllauberg near Graz in the region of Styria. Werner Retter represents the third generation and carries on the family tradition and philosophy – only natural grown, fully ripe and healthy fruit, harvested at the correct time by hand and sorted by hand ensures the highest quality, and later the drinking pleasure.

In Austria the apricot is associated mostly with the region of Wachau, where it is one of the main fruits to be harvested, along with grapes. Its name is derived from "Armenian Apple", called “Armellino” in Italian, ending in Marille in German. It is said to be an aphrodisiac.

Retter BIO Marille is 100% pure fruit distillate, double distilled in small copper pots and stored in small glass balloons until bottled. Strictly limited annual production makes this Schnaps a gourmet rarity. Are you feeling Retter?

We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Tasting Notes

Many times apricot spirits taste rather suspicious or “too good to be true”. Retter Marille on the other hand shouts BIO, organic and natural. Clear appearance. Distinctive and delicate fragrance of fully ripe apricots, fleshy and intensive on the nose. Subtle, but distinguished marzipan tone of almond from the apricot pit is noticeable. Succulent tart flavor, complete with a fruity aftertaste.

Tastes best with fruits and cheese as an aperitif or digestif.
