Top reviews for Mortlach 12 Year Old "The Wee Witchie":

— Damn good stuff. Not too much of anything in terms of flavor profiles aside from delicious. Balance comes to mind. Has quickly become my second favorite behind, distantly, Springbank 18.

— One of the best single malt's I've ever tasted. The flavor was outdone only by the smoothness of this nectar. Highly recommended unless supplies are low!!

— Delicious. There's a lot on the tongue - a surprising array of flavor. The bourbon and sherry casks float around in the back a bit; rounding out the fruity notes. All in all, very lively. Highly recommended. I will certainly buy another bottle of this.

Full of flavor, tastes older, a hint of bitterness, some citrus and herbs.

Phil
Phil,
The Wee Witchie is the new name from the distillery to replace the Rare Old moniker, on the label it indicated that the dram went through a 2.81 times distillation process (sounds complicated). Aged in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks at 43.4%. When I first sniffed it, it smelled fruity, leathery, and sweet. On the palate follow through similarly with fruity (I think this is where the sherry comes in) and baking spices that had a little bit of heat, nutty and sweet. The lingering is basically the same with your scent and taste that coats your tongue makes with a rich flavors. Good price for the quality you are getting

Charlotte
Charlotte,
A fine scotch hitting that 10 to 15 year sweet spot. A good balance of wood and fruit without having been overwhelmed by the sherry cask.
