A tasty Gin that's pretty in pink.

The Thames Distillery was founded in 1996 by Charles Maxwell who was an 8th-generation Gin distiller. Today, the distillery produces around 60 Gins for different brands – everything from international brands to small-scale operations for bars. Distilled at the Thames Distillery and bottled in Spain, Mombasa Gin is one of those premium brands.

Inspired by a 19th century private social club in Kenya that imported English Gin for its members, Mombasa Strawberry Gin is a London Dry Gin with a twist on the original recipe. It’s still triple-distilled for delicate smoothness but it’s then infused with real strawberries and other red fruits. The pretty pink hue is perfect for your summer cocktails and so are the sweet, juicy, and bold fruity flavors.

As producers try to develop new styles and flavors of Gin, to push the category and find a niche, the need for trying new methods of extracting flavors, as well as using more unusual botanicals, has grown.

One such way is the vacuum distillation method, when the redistillation of botanicals takes place in a vacuum.
Gin gets its dominant flavour from juniper berries. As with many other spirits, Gin was originally intended to be used as medicine. Yeah right!
London Dry Gin is not always from London. Gin does not have the same geographical restrictions as Spirits such as Cognac, Scotch, or Tequila. Only a tiny handful of London Dry Gins are actually made in the city.
Few Gin distillers make their own alcohol. Gin usually starts with neutral Spirit: A commodity that distillers buy in bulk. It’s what the distiller does with this commodity in the flavor-infusing process that makes each Gin different.
As with many other Spirits, Gin was originally intended to be used as a medicine—to battle malaria.
The Thames Distillery houses two stainless steel stills, called Tom Thumb and Thumbelina, each with a 500-liter capacity.
