Really excellent combination that comes from the rye and sherry casks--spicy and a rich, creamy, undertone. I found the combination sours as it lingers on the palate, to the point that the finish almost feels like cough syrup (which sounds worse than I mean it), but I still love it on the whole.
This is my favorite rye...I like it better than Whistle Pig and other trendy ryes. Love the sherry finish, you can really taste the sherry and cherry-like sweetness, along with caramel. But has just enough bite.
I once bought this bottle a while back and it was a wonderful whiskey (my favorite rye so far actually). The flavor was exactly as described, it was smooth, complex, and all of the flavors were there, nothing was overwhelming. HOWEVER.... I recently ordered another bottle of the same minor case, which looks the same save for the letters being painted (a nice touch). For some reason it is much more rough this time and the oak is very overwhelming. The nose however is similar to last time. I'm not sure what happened or if it's just the bottle i got, but I didn't want to give it a bad rating because f how good it was the last time I bought it. Would still buy it again!
This is pretty good for two years. The flavor profiles are pretty spot on but none of them are overly potent. It’s definitely worth the price here but not the $16 pour or $55 bottle I’ve seen it in my local area.
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical AF with the 2 Year age statement but wow did this dram from Minor Case deliver!
Caramel and vanilla are obvious on the nose that leads into a mellow spice and oak note with hints of fruit on the palette followed by a long sweet sherry finish.
Literally mind blown with how clean this Rye is. Well done!
