A special blend of Texas, Tennessee, and Kentucky Whiskey.

Our resident liquor experts, David Wondrich and Noah Rothbaum, have known Milam & Greene’s Master Blender Heather Greene for ages. So they needed no convincing to team up with her to create a special American whiskey blend. Greene mixed up eight different combinations of rare whiskies aging in her warehouses and the trio tasted and debated the merits of each. They settled on a delicious cask-strength combination of Texas, Tennessee, and Kentucky whiskies, which they called Unabridged Vol. 1. It is an unusually luscious expression with plenty of sweet maple syrup on the nose, a robust body, and a long finish–an instant classic!

Milam & Greene is located in Texas Hill Country and was founded by Marsha Milam and its whiskey is made by Master Blender Heather Greene and Master Distiller Marlene Holmes. The three have half a century of combined liquor experience. And that’s not to mention their passion for whiskey and their gift for innovation. The brand produces whiskey in its Texas distillery as well as buys rare barrels from distillers in other states, including Kentucky and Indiana.

Appearance / Color
Amber.

Nose / Aroma / Smell
On the nose, there is an oaky, split-log tang cushioned by waves of pecan pie, maple syrup, and creamed corn.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
On the palate, the Whiskey is complex and chewy, with cinnamon-spice oak, dark chocolate, and stone fruit notes to balance the richness.

Finish
A very long finish.

Bourbons are very high in vanilla, as American White Oak is naturally high in vanillins.
Bourbon rules refer to manufacturing methods rather than location. Bourbon must be matured in new and charred American white oak casks for at least 2 years. If the bottle has no age statement, the Bourbon is at least 4 years old. No coloring or flavoring of any type is allowed, and the mash bill must contain at least 51% corn.
Bourbon matures quicker than Scotch due to higher temperatures in American warehouses.

Limestone Branch Distillery, which produces Yellowstone Bourbon, also makes Minor Case Bourbon and Bowling & Burch Gin.

Straight Bourbon must be matured for at least 2 years. If a bottle has no age statement, it’s at least 4 years old.

J.B.'s father, Joseph W. Dant, invented a still made from a poplar log at 16, as he couldn't afford a copper still. Although crude, it worked exceptionally well!
