Coñac cubano.

The company first introduced Matusalem Rum in 1872 in Santiago de Cuba, it was known as the "Cognac of Rums". But after Castro gained control of the country the family producing it went into exile and after many years of inner turmoil the brand is today bottled in the city of Monte Plata in the Dominican Republic. The name Matusalem comes from a Spanish proverb “Esto es mas viejo que Matusalem” - or "It’s older than Methusalah" (an almost ageless 969 year-old from the Old Testament).

Matusalem Gran 15 Reserva Rum is a solera blended bottling made from molasses and aged for 15 years using the solera system in French oak casks.

What does Matusalem 15 Gran Reserva Rum taste like?

The Flavour Spiral™ shows the most common flavours that you'll taste in Matusalem 15 Gran Reserva Rum and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavour Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Corner
A little bit of etymology; nobody really knows where the word Rum comes from. Most popular suggestions are: Rum (the Romani word for potent), Rumbullion (an uproar), Saccharum (sugar in Latin), Rummer (a Dutch drinking glass).
