If you like Rye, you WILL like this… a lot.

Connecticut-based Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits was founded by Bill Deutsch in 1981 as an importer and marketer of brands from all over the world. Things have gone rather well over the years and the company has begun acquiring brands as well to create their own portfolio. Currently they are responsible for dozens of Wines — including major name brands Yellow Tail and Baroni Fini — and a range of Whiskies, Vodka, Limoncello, and more.

Masterson’s Rye Whiskey is a classic Canadian Rye Whiskey, born in California, and named after the famous Midwestern gunfighter and bon-vivant Bat Masterson. The Deutsch Family purchased the brand just recently to fill out their Whiskey line-up. But what you’ll care about most is that this is a true-blue Rye Whiskey that has a few rare qualities. First, it’s 100% Pacific Northwest Rye — there’s no corn, wheat, or barley in the mash at all. Next, it’s distilled in pot stills and aged a full ten years in new American oak casks. With demand being so high, it seems to get harder every year to find a true Rye Whiskey that old. Finally, it’s bottled at a wonderful 45% ABV, so it stands up to ice like a champ. All that yields a pure, fragrant Rye expression with a genuine character that doesn’t taste like everything else.

SmartAss Corner:
Bat Masterson was a larger-than-life character from America’s golden age of the West in Texas and Dodge City, Kansas. He was a lawman, gunfighter, army scout, buffalo hunter, body guard, and newspaperman.

Ratings & Reviews
James
James,
my favorite Rye in this price range. No odd flavors. I can drink thievery day

Jessica
Jessica,
Masterson's is my absolute favorite whiskey at the moment. I've had none better as of yet. I clearly have a liking for Rye whiskeys.

Kathy
Kathy,
This is a highly rated rye and not the cheapest at all. I like it but it ie a bit harsh for me. On the rocks I let is sit a bit to smooth out and it was more to my liking. If you like a rye with a bit of bite, this is a great one.

Mitch
Mitch,
Smooth as could be. Delicious !

Roger
Roger,
Honestly it was good but not great, there are so many better bottles out there for half the price. If your going to charge this much you have to make it worth it.

guest,
Amazing pairing with a pecan pie dessert!

Shawn
Shawn,
Never received this

David
David,
Really smooth.

Tristan
Tristan,
Solid Rye. Definitely one to enjoy, but the rating set a bar that the bottle did not hit. I think a 8.5 is more fitting.

Danny
Danny,
Smooth, nice nose, perhaps too smooth

Karl
Karl,
Phenomenal Rye. I put this to a blind taste test against 10 yr Whistle Pig and my 16 yr Lock Stock and Barrel and everyone picks the 10 yr Masterson’s rye. If you don’t have this one in your bar, don’t hesitate....buy this one.
