The Islay Mezcal.
Produced by Marco Negra (eng. Black Hand), a company that seeks out Mezcals from small distilleries across Mexico and bottles them in small batches. Mezcal is a true artisanal and craft product, as it is very village-specific, where the secrets of the trade are passed down from father to son, and each Mezcal is as distinct as the next one. Mezcal, in comparison to Tequila, can be made from over 30 varieties of Agave. Mezcal literary means over-cooked Agave. Traditionally it's cooked in pits of hot rocks and then covered with stones.
Mezcal Marca Negra Espadin uses 100% Agave Espadin. It's very smoky, and we could consider it as the South of the Border cousin to Islay Scotch. This makes us very excited indeed! Made in a very limited quantity of 3150 only. Apparently the hand print on the bottle is the one from a Mezcalero. So grab it now – grab, hand, get it?
