Marilyn Manson is an American musician, artist, songwriter and painter known for his controversial appearance and great Metal music. Supposedly his image earned him a reputation of a negative influence on young people… All we know is that sometimes awkward and qrotesque taste gave us a lot to music and now also to Absinthe! Manson’s love for the Green Fairy is so strong that he actually launched his own impression of this wonderful drink to share with the world.
The Mansinthe Absinthe is the product of Matter, a Swiss Distillery where Oliver Matter and Manson got together to create this green liquid and label it especially with one of Manson’s artworks. The drink itself consists of everything that a true Absinthe should include. From wormwood, green anise to Florence fennel seeds and then reduced to bottling strength using water from the Alps. An Absinthe with a hundred year old recipe and a twist of a contemporary Metal artist. Should be no coincidence that the ABV is 66.6%, right?!
The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Mansinthe Absinthe and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.
We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.
Smell / Nose / Aroma
Wormwood and anise are dominating. Slight earthy, vegetal notes.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
A balance between wormwood and anise with some spicy heat going on. Some alpine herbs , earthy aromas are also felt in a really buttery palate.
Pairs perfectly with the Sazerac Rye for a fantastic Sazerac!
James,
This was just as great as I remembered it being back in the beginning of 2012 when I first had it.. you would think musician backed things that aren't music related aren't usually too great, or overpriced. While this is more on the expensive side, it is sofa king worth it in my opinion. Very high in alcohol, nice louche to it, great taste, 10 out of 10.
Eitan,
My fourth absinthe, and currently my favorite. Mouthfeel is milky, and smooth. The flavor is very balanced, with the anise being upfront. It gives way to some wormwood bitterness, and then an earthy tone. Like someone else mentioned, I do detect a vanilla note in the finish that lingers. Overall again, I’m a fan and will keep it on hand.
Jose,
I’m not a fan of it but first time trying absinthe it has a strong black licorice flavor and I can’t stand black licorice
Samuel,
The best absinthe Marilyn Manson can make :) It also doubles as a hand sanitizer.
Kevin,
By Far the best Absinthe I've ever had ! It Reacts exactly as an Absinthe should, with a perfect louche and a wonderful aromatic release of botanicals accompanied by a delicious and super smooth flavor. Great job Marilyn!
Jonathan,
Despite the celebrity endorsement, this is a solid absinthe that seems balanced and authentic. It creates a great louche and goes down like silk. Makes a fantastic standalone as well as a great Death In The Afternoon. It’s an absinthe I will special order again.
Brainerd,
It's creamy. It's a full, rich, licorice-heavy (anise-heavy) drink. Still, this is the most "smooth" Absinthe I have enjoyed.
Tina,
This is a tasty, clean absinthe that doesn’t overpower you with wormwood. My go-to for absinthe. I’ll keep this one stocked.
Fabian,
Best Absinthe on the market, if you feel “Anti-Christ Super Star” is the pinnacle of Manson’s career then you’ll be a fan of his absinthe. Hands down 100%!
Fabian,
Smooth like St. George but with a hint of vanilla on the lips for aftertaste. Well done 💯
Chris,
This is the best absinthe I have ever tasted. Smooth, delicious! Kudos Mr Manson!
Brainerd,
Very smooth, almost creamy (in a good way) absinthe with a brilliant mouth-feel.
Rick,
Great absinthe. Wormwood and licorice come through nicely. No gimmicks with this one. I plan on ordering more.
Dillon,
Love it
Sarah,
It was ok. Not my favorite but it was ok
Chris,
Outstanding Absinthe - surprisingly good.
Tristan,
Definitely a quality Absinthe. If you want something that won’t give you a headache after your first sip (with some assembly required), this is a must.
Scott,
My new absolute favorite Absinthe. Mixed traditionally - with a touch of sugar and water over ice, it delivers the flavor I'm looking for in absinthe. I'm going to try mixing it with other things like Champagne for good measure, but I've never had a better Absinthe... Though I'll admit I've only had six or seven other brands.
Donald,
Very different flavor but quite good.
The process of sugar and cold water combined with the absinthe adds to the experience.
I will likely have this in my home bar regularly.
Mark,
Very earthy, need to learn the tricks and trades of absinthe
Antti,
is a very good concentrated herbal aperitif / cordial made without presweetening or artificial flavorings, vermouth & herbs create complexity, demanding dilution, releasing uninviting aromas & an intense finish. Great for complex cocktails in which herbal dominance is required.
