All about Mackmyra

Mackmyra, the first Swedish distillery, was envisioned by a group of 8 friends on a skiing trip who wanted to create the first Swedish Whisky.

A year later the 8 friends founded a distillery and within 6 months they had distilled the first drops of raw Whisky. 3 years and 170 recipes later they had their first Whisky, the Mackmyra Elegant.

Mackmyra produces Single Malt Whiskies with different characters and profiles. There is no common character of the Whiskies. They are all different in aromas, and palate. However, the sense of peat can be found in most of their expressions. Swedish peat is very distinct.

In 2017, Mackmyra began distilling its own Gin.

All about Mackmyra distillery

There are two distilleries of Mackmyra. The first is situated in the village of Mackmyra, in the residential district of Valbo. The second distillery is 6 miles away from the first.

Mackmyra started with one question: "Why are there no Whiskey distilleries Sweden?" The idea was born in 1998, and they started distilling in 1999.

Between 2003 and 2007 Mackmyra continued opening new warehouses. In 2009, they began constructing Mackmyra Whisky Village which opened in 2010. Since then, Mackmyra has received numerous awards.
