Bought for the history, but I really enjoyed it! It does burn a bit but has an awesome flavor and a delightful smokiness to it! For the price, you can’t beat it!
Priced to be a "working man's scotch." I bought it thinking it would be sweet and floral, what i got was a mouth full of smoke. However, I learned to like it mid way through the bottle ;), but i cant recommend it.
Pretty good whisky. Honestly, I mainly bought it because of the story behind it, and I was curious to see what Ernest Shackleton's Scotch would taste like. It's a nice blend, better with a bit of ice. Not bad!
Extra star because if the story. Something I would break out for friends and a scotch club that didn’t know the story. Moving past the story it is a good scotch. Vanilla. Graham crackers. Apples and oranges.
Smooth for it's ABV, with a mild attack and sweet finish. The zest and fruitiness mixed with the buttery/toffee finish make for a relatively unique expression. Enjoyable, but not in the way most scotch whisky's are. It's a 7 with a bonus point for being 47% ABV. Well worth it for the price and a fine addition to any bar.
