Top reviews for Mackinlay's Shackleton Rare Old:

― Not too sweet. Just the right smoothness

― Smooth for it's ABV, with a mild attack and sweet finish. The zest and fruitiness mixed with the buttery/toffee finish make for a relatively unique expression. Enjoyable, but not in the way most scotch whisky's are. It's a 7 with a bonus point for being 47% ABV. Well worth it for the price and a fine addition to any bar.

― My review is not for this product, as I never recieved this product, but a review of how flaviar is handling it. Was sent the blue bottle Shackleton, which is not the same product. Was told the vendor made a mistake and this product isn't available through their vendors. Now they have tripled the price and are still selling. Now I'm told they found a new vendor, hence the higher price, but they aren't going to ship me the correct bottle at the price I paid. The return process has been an complete hassle as well as the return label sent me was not accepted by FedEx for not stating on the label it was alcohol. Very poor customer service.

Golden Straw.

Nose / Aroma / Smell
Complex doesn’t begin to related the depth of flavor — from fresh-baked peasant bread and whipped butter to crushed apples and herbs.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
Viscous and mouth-coating — but light at the same time — with more autumn fruit, orange zest, butter-nut toffee, and more.

Finish
Rich with a strong finish that adds shortbread cookies to the flavor profile.
