Artful celebration of everything Whisky.

Macallan is shorthand for brilliance and elegance. Almost two centuries old distillery has the knowledge, experience, and imagination to pull of some of the greatest expressions on this side of the Solar system. Maybe it’s all in their classified specially cultured barley and state-of-the-art gear; maybe it’s simply magic.

The Macallan Estate has a superior collection of casks and they can afford composing breathtaking symphonies with a wide specter of notes (get it – notes?). Rare Cask’s mission is to exhibit complexity and depth of Whisky’s rich natural hue. The team of experts scoured the archive and created a masterful blend of Whiskies matured exclusively in sherry-seasoned oak from Spain. This limited expression represents the volume of only fifty oak sherry butts. Upscale, exclusive, artful.

The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in The Macallan Rare Cask Batch No. 2 2018 Release and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.

Ratings & Reviews
Too long to remember anything other than cherishing every sip!
There is no discernible taste difference between 2018 Batch #1 versus Batch #2, at least from my point of view. The color, texture, nose and finish between the two are indistinguishable. I tried to find differences, happily more than once. But what does prompt me to like Batch #2 a bit more is in the presentation of the box. Whereas the Batch #1 came in the original red box which has always been a staple for Rare Cask, the Batch #2 has a new look, and the bottle has a nicer label. But the liquid content is the same. As most of you already know, the year 2018 is the first time Macallan indicates Batch numbering in their Rare Cask. In 2018, there are 3 clearly labeled batches. Each is a collector's item.
