If you watch Skyfall and Spectre and look closely, you’ll notice James Bond is sipping on various expressions of The Macallan. The brand has created a sixfold collection of top-shelf Scotches to celebrate their connection to the most famous spy.
This edition honors the first decade when Sir Sean Connery and George Lazenby saved the world from various baddies. The design features sketches from Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, and Thunderball.
The golden Whisky within is refreshingly citrus-forward with gorgeous oaky, spicy, and sweet undertones. The finish is long and complex, while we could say the Scotch is like Bond: stylish, sophisticated, and unique.

Nose / Aroma / Smell
The fragrance is fresh and vibrant, reminiscent of lemon and lime, with a hint of sherbet. It also features sweet notes of vanilla and coconut, dried figs, and raisins.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
The palate is a burst of orange zest and fizzy sherbet with a refreshing lemon twist. It has a gentle oak and subtle ginger spice, leading into a deep, rich chocolate taste, complemented by the sweetness of figs and baked apple tart with a honey drizzle.
Finish
The finish is sweet and long, with complex layers of flavor that linger on the palate.

Macallan is a popular choice among the younger Whisky drinking crowd and they do a lot of marketing activities to keep in touch with them. In 2016, they created a Facebook chatbot that answered questions about the brand and its Whiskies.
It's unknown where the Macallan name comes from, but there are a few possibilities circling around. The most popular one is that it comes from two words in the Gallic language. “Magh” which refers to a fertile piece of ground and “Eilean” which curiously enough means, “of Saint Fillans.” Over time “Magh Eilean” became Anglicised as Macallan.
The Macallan Speyside estate is the only distillery ground in Scotland where you can fish for atlantic salmon. It sits right on the River Spey and from February to September is the perfect location for some salmon fishing.
