Only enough time in incredible wood (plus a touch of wizardry) can get you such incredible Whisky.

Ask any Whisky lover and they'll tell you The Macallan is a classy gentleman. The distillery by the river Spey has been making Whiskies since 1824 and they sure do know a thing or two about making great Scotch.

The distillery stands on a ridge above the River Spey and it got its name from an ancient church that had been burnt down in the 15th century. They have two "secrets" up their sleeve: top secret specially cultured yeast for the fermentation, and the smallest stills within the Scotch industry.

The Macallan Double Cask 30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is all about that wood. En général, incredible Whisky starts with incredible wood. And this mature tipple spent just the right amount of time in it; three decades in a harmonious combination of sherry seasoned European and American oak casks did its thing. It's a true showcase of The Macallan's commitment to excellence. Sweet oak, soft spice, and toffee mingle on the smooth palate with cinnamon, ginger, Madagascan vanilla, and dried fruits. Perfection.

Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.
The Macallan Speyside estate is the only distillery ground in Scotland where you can fish for atlantic salmon. It sits right on the River Spey and from February to September is the perfect location for some salmon fishing.
Whisky distilling goes way back to 1494 when the first recorded batch was made by a posse of monks who acquired about 60 gallons of barley and decided to turn it into "aqua vitae". They created the first 1,500 bottles of Scotch in History.
Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made in Scotland using a pot still distillation process at a single distillery, with malted barley as the only grain ingredient. It must be matured in oak casks in Scotland for at least three years (most Single Malts are matured longer, though).
Blended Whiskies are the result of years of craftsmanship and dedication. A master blender does not simply wake up one day with a profound ability to create a cohesive and enjoyable liquid. From nosing the liquid to working out quantities of each different grain and malt to go into the blend, a master blender can take years, if not decades, to train.
Macallan is a popular choice among the younger Whisky drinking crowd and they do a lot of marketing activities to keep in touch with them. In 2016, they created a Facebook chatbot that answered questions about the brand and its Whiskies.
