With Scotch, Three’s Not a Crowd.

Macallan distillery has been making Whisky-lovers happy since 1824 – that’s when America was at their fifth president – and since then, they have perfected their art. 200 years of know-how, savoir-faire, and inspiration, combined with fresh water source, secret specially cultured barley, and the smallest stills – it all results in some of the finest Whiskies.

This expression is undoubtedly among them. The Macallan Triple Cask range (previously known as The Fine Oak) is created by the masters blending an intricate combination of different casks: European and American Sherry-seasoned oak & ex-Bourbon casks. What we get is a complex and rich harmony of various wood influences. Speaking of wood, The Macallan is the only distillery crafting fresh Sherry-seasoned casks in the world, so this Spirit is unique as hell. This Spirit spent a decade and a half in the trio of casks, evolving into an opulent and divine drinking experience, a wedding of the freshest fragrances and savors of chocolate and orange.

It's unknown where the Macallan name comes from, but there are a few possibilities circling around. The most popular one is that it comes from two words in the Gallic language. “Magh” which refers to a fertile piece of ground and “Eilean” which curiously enough means, “of Saint Fillans.” Over time “Magh Eilean” became Anglicised as Macallan.
90% of all Scotch Whisky released in the market is a blend. That’s a hell of a lot.
Beer and malt Whisky seem to have quite a bit in common. Both drinks begin with malted barley, which deliver the enzymes and sugars needed for fermentation when steeped in hot water. The two go their separate ways at the wash stage, where they're fermented or aged to become the adult beverages you know and love.
Blended Whiskies are the result of years of craftsmanship and dedication. A master blender does not simply wake up one day with a profound ability to create a cohesive and enjoyable liquid. From nosing the liquid to working out quantities of each different grain and malt to go into the blend, a master blender can take years, if not decades, to train.
Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made in Scotland using a pot still distillation process at a single distillery, with malted barley as the only grain ingredient. It must be matured in oak casks in Scotland for at least three years (most Single Malts are matured longer, though).
The Macallan Speyside estate is the only distillery ground in Scotland where you can fish for atlantic salmon. It sits right on the River Spey and from February to September is the perfect location for some salmon fishing.
