Small stills, BIG Scotch.
Founded in 1824, The Macallan is one of the “Big 3” distilleries in Scotland. Fortunately, they have achieved this scale without sacrificing quality. Their achievements are numerous — including setting the record price ever paid at auction for a single bottle of Scotch. They produce a very broad range of world-class single malt Whiskies that have a huge global following.
If you are a fan of The Macallan, you might expect the Fine Oak series to share those familiar characteristics. The spirit is there, but the Fine Oak line is a bit different ... you may be surprised, but you will not be disappointed. The entire Macallan Fine Oak line is triple wood aged—meaning that they blend their signature malt aged in three cask types: the traditional Spanish sherry casks, American Bourbon barrels, and American oak Sherry casks. This results in a Whisky that is a bit less sweet and is lighter in color than its better-known siblings. This means it tastes more balanced, refreshing, and clean-finishing … making it a better choice to drink with food. Why wait for dinner to be over before you enjoy your dram?

Ratings & Reviews
guest,
Smooth and easy to drink
Keith,
Lots of sherry
Jerry,
Very easy drinker and smooooth. Bottle was almost gone before we realized it. Moderate sweetness with notes of honey oak and vanilla. Expensive but very tasty.
Jacquie,
Love me some Whiskey- this was a good bottle. I could taste the oak and spice in it, a hint of sherry- smooth and pleasant to sip - highly recommend
Joshua,
Top pick. ...so far at least. This is the most Scotch flavored Scotch on my list. A bit dry, touch of smoke, touch of floral, but nothing takes over.
