Member Reviews and Ratings of The Macallan 12 Year Old
smooth and delicious
More my wife's favorite. I got a bottle from a friend for my 60th birthday. I'm not really a Scotch Drinker but my wife loved it. Now I keep a bottle on the bar for her. When I have a night cap of a neat bourbon she has a splash of it.
My Highland go to and “everyday” drinker. This is what I use to introduce people to Scotch.
Loved it. Light smoke with sweetness. Smooth.
I would rather have the balvenie sherry cask. Personal preference but felt it was overrated overall.
You can not go wrong with Macallan. Smooth and very nice to sip.
I don't care for scotch... so this one I offer to guests that do.....
Good solid every day drinker!
Spicy and sweet aftertaste, not heavy.
Honestly, I can't think of any real reason to recommend this whisky. It isn't bad, mind you- just bland and uninteresting. It's fine as a mixer, but there are far, far better/more involving drams out there for sipping.
First expensive whiskey I’ve tried, it’s my favorite so far but I wouldn’t pay for it again
Great scotch, price was hard to justify for a 12 year
A very good scotch but there are better for the price. A bit sweeter than I prefer. No smoke at all. Very smooth. Macallan 18 is still my all-time favorite. Can not afford it now. Lol.
Sherry cask influence lightens it up. More sweet than I prefer. I definitely like the peated, smoky whiskys.
Smooth reasonable single malt
Definitely my favorite Scotch distillery. The 12 year is a staple in my bar. Never without a bottle.
just a drinkable scotch.
Excellent balance of sweet and spicy
Great scotch. Fruity, smoky, woody and very smooth. Best consumed straight up. Mixing it would be a crime.
Not sure if this selection is the sherry cask or double cask the one I am reviewing is the sherry oak.... nose is straight forward sweet sherry the mouth is sweet sherry also with dark honey and very little spice this is my favorite single malt so far. Most likely due to it being the smoothest and I love the sweet sherry price is a little high but macallens standards seem very high so the price I’m sure reflects the time and work they put into perfecting what they sell overall my favorite so far
Smooth and easy to drink. Not memorable though.
Macallan 18 is my favorite Scotch, but rarely can afford it, so I stock its little brother.
my rating is based the cost to reward ratio. the price isn't worth it. i've many other 12 year scotches that blow this out of the water.
My daily drinker. Well balanced and available at almost any bar
Very good flavor and smoothness.
Solid smooth sipping Never disappoints. Lot's of woody flavor
Excellent single malt, especially for beginners. Very butterscotchy on the nose and palate, some vanilla and cinnamon breaks through on the tongue as well. Spicy and long, burning finish - very pleasant.
Good balance of zest and floral flavors, easy to drink, reminds me of Glenlivet 12 year.
smooth, amazing woody and spiced flavours.
My favorite Single Malt and a go to for years, now branching out to see what else the world offers
This has been my go to for many years, but hoping to change that with my introduction to Flaviar. I enjoy the sweet oaky flavors and prefer it with a cube.
Exceptional! Mild woody burnt sugar nose, super smooth warmth and wonderful hints of the peat and smoke on taste with a kiss of sherry aging on the finish. Really nice. Neat all day.
Complex and great for the price point. Love the sherried scotches.
Good neat. Notes of sherry and oak with slight hints of caramel
A good frequent-use single malt. Smooth, sweetish, and easy to enjoy. If you nose it more than you sip, it really opens up nicely.
Smooth, rich flavor and mild aroma make for a great sip.
Awesome everyday glass
Nice. Smooth. Warm
A great go-to dram for any occasion. Sweet nose with a sweet and spicy palate, the finish tapers off nicely leaving you wanting more... definitely recommend.
It is a very good, rich, Single Malt Whisky with a rich birth; while a rich & full life leads to a long & complex death with vanilla, dark honey & floral notes.
Moderate levels of wood and spice to make it a decent and easy drinking whiskey
My favorite! Smooth, sweet, spicy. Best served neat.
