Member Reviews and Ratings of Lismore 21 Year Old
I've had a four samples of it so far and I've given up trying to figure out if it is good or not. It is the most disappointing scotch I've had- the nose is faint-to-nonexistent, the taste faint and thin. I had it last night and I ate a piece of mild cheddar and couldn't taste the scotch at all. Now I'm eyeing a bottle that might take years to get through to get to the best part of the purchase - the decanter.
I enjoyed the Lismore 21, although sherry casks aren't my favorite generally. A splash of water smoothed it out, and I had no trouble finishing it.
SOME pretty good reviews, $80 for a 21 yr old sherry hogsheads rendition (which I am partial to) so I figured let's give it a try. I am sorry to say I was profoundly disappointed. Decent nose, some flavor but a bit thin and too much peppery bite that I couldn't quite seem to keep out of my nose on the swallow ( a few drops of water on the third go-round didn't save it ). A certain sweetness that lived faintly on the tongue at the finish is the only reason it gets 3 stars. The Glendronach 15 I have open outclassed it from start to finish. While it was over a week ago since I finished a bottle of Glengoyne Cask Strength (Bath 006), that was far superior as well.
Worth the price, very good Speyside Scotch. Ordered another bottle after the first. Well balanced, not too complex and the vanilla reminds me that of a Macallan.
Nice on the nose. Smooth at first, cherry, vanilla and some pepper. Quite nice. Surprising for the price. Definitely would recommend.
Well balanced, smooth and delicious.
Absolute garbage. I’ve only ever had one other scotch that I’ve found no redeemable qualities in. Lismore apparently rummaged in the trash of a speyside distillery and bought whatever was left out to rot. Only reason it even got an extra star from me was the decanter. I am not sure what others here reviewed but my liquid was complete garbage.
A little too sweet, not enough peet
Well balanced, smooth, pleasant. I only wish the finish had as much flavor as the taste. Very enjoyable.
Phenomenal is all I have to say
Well balanced for 21 yrs and not too woody. Sherry is very noticeable on the nose but not as much on the pallet. I get a nice honey finish. Overall good, not great but solid for the price. I’d happily sip this on the regular.
The BEST Speyside scotch I’ve ever had. Spicy start with a buttery finish. VERY smooth.
Very smooth and flavorful at the same time. A rare find.
I’m pretty sure it was one of the best scotch I’ve had in a long time
Best scotch I’ve ever drank, smooth as silk and a bargain to boot I will definitely be back for more,I hope they don’t run out before I get a chance to stock up
Very smooth, but not exceptional flavorwise.
Very nice taste with great finish! Dangerous to sip - can finish whole bottle)))
This was quite disappointing. Lismore 12 is my favorite single-malt and I expected this 21-year-old to be extra special. It was just so-so, at least to my palate.
I REALLY like this scotch. I'm not much for smokey / peat types. If your looking for for that then don't trust my review, but you still will probably like this scotch.
Absolutely amazing. My new favorite. So smooth that it could be dangerous. Have to remember it has alcohol.
Pretty good 21yr old for less then 90 bucks! Definitely doing this one again.
Classy. Can’t believe the price!
I’m just getting into the Scotch side of whiskey, I thought is was very smooth since I wasn’t coming into it with expectations for a 21 yr old - never had a 21 yr old. Sherry bomb for sure and complex flavors that will have you searching for something new every time you sip. VERY GOOD for the price.
I liked it. A good Single Malt
Not the smoothest I was hoping for. Bitter and harsh finish.
Not as great as I had hoped for in a 21 year old. I mean it is a great price for the given age but I have had half as old just as good or better. Worth trying but not sure I would buy again and again...
Not the smooth finish I was waiting for. Very aggressive and oakie.
So damn good. Oily and light with a long, complex finish
Great price for this scotch. Flavor Definitely followed the tasting notes! Evven my normally bourbon friends liked it. One went and bought a bottle!
Interesting Speyside that I’ve never had before. Great price for a 21yr.
Very smooth, subtle but disappointingly unspectacular flavor.
