Member Reviews and Ratings of Levon Petite Champagne VSOP Cognac
Jon,
Good for recipes but lacks the complexity and depth of other similarly priced options
Chad,
I really liked this. Admittedly, it was my first VSOP. I got some stone fruit and sweet notes, and it had a lot less burn than other cognacs I've had (again, it might just have been the age, but still.) I always taste a new bottle the day I get it, but I actually went back for a second pour with dinner. Oh, and yes, this does go with leftover pizza.
Saville,
Enjoyed this cognac. Traditionally a Hennessey and Courvosier drinker, found this to be easy to drink, smooth and tasty. Nice caramel notes, less burn than many other cognacs.
Candice,
Lovely, dark fruit and cinnamon, honeyed end. Really well rounded cognac, sweet but not syrupy. Love the spice.
David,
Some personal history: 1. I am 79 years old. 2. I have never been drunk. 3. I went to college at 17. 4. I was designate driver and saw friends sober and drunk, I preferred them sober. 5. I did and don't drink beer, it makes me sick for days. 6. My wife and I planned and went to Europe for 18 days in October 1963 to celebrate our First Anniversary. To do this we tasted a number of wines, we were told not to drink the water. Betsy has relatives living near Stuttgart and we met them early in the day. I think they gave us cognac, the only sample I have ever had. This Levon is my first and I cannot make any comparisons. 7. In September 1967 I was ordered to Germany for 2 years, took Betsy with me and the Army moved us there and back. Like 1963 we had wine and we were fine.
In 1971 Betsy was struck by a little known syndrome which caused her blindness and severe pain, no alcohol. We are still married.
I have trouble with my throat and I have gone back to my father's cure: cup of black tea, honey, lemon juice and whiskey (small cheap bottle). My paternal grandmother, she died before I was a year old, was Irish and so I turned to Irish whiskey.
I have tried Bushmills, Tillmore D.E.W. and some blended bottles.
I have tried some bourbons.
So reviews are hard for me.
Gene,
The spiciness was something new to me. A welcome change to the usual.
Sam,
I’ve never been a huge cognac fan but this was a great bottle. Very smooth, sweet but not too sweet, great finish. I’ll be putting into my regular rotation for sure.
Johnathon,
I’m new to this, but I like the smoothness of this, I will buy again!
David,
A few things you need to know about me. I never drank beer, in fact something in beer makes me sick. I didn't drink alcohol until I was married and over 21. Before we married we planned to spend our first anniversary in Europe (1963) and we did, self guided. To prepare we tasted wines to determine what we liked, we would have to drink wine with meals. I am 79 and never tasted spirits until now. To write a review could be unfair. One exception to drinking spirits is that I have had Irish whiskey for years, my paternal grandmother was a McCary. Many of my selections will be a first time for me.
Jake,
The bottle was recommended by Flaviar and it is my first cognac I've purchased. I first opened this last night after a long day watching the kids and watching my wife shop. I sat down with a glass, taking my first sip. A wonderful sweet, smooth, flavorful experience was had. Finds like this is why I joined the club!
Tor,
I feel this is a very "traditional" cognac, similar to a Remy VSOP in style. So for $41, pretty good, won't beat some of my favorites, but they are also more expensive.
Francisco,
I love the nose, and the taste is super smooth
James,
I am still new to this trying new types of liquor but this one I have to just slip on it slow. Smooth on the way down and just want to keep it on the bar. I will buy again for sure.
Michael,
Disappointed. Not terrible, just not good. My initial review was not good. That said, I’ve revisited this bottle several times and must admit that I like it a lot now. I think I was expecting too much from a $41 bottle of cognac. What I would say now is that, for the price this is a decent pour. I am buying it again.
Tyrone,
By far the smoothest cognac, I have sip.
Brandon,
Smooth as silk with the sweet finish from the aging process. Worth every penny!
Ariel,
I never got this. Please do not use Lone Star to ship things to me, they’ve never got it right and I’m still waiting for this Cognac, god knows where it is.
Calvin,
Great!!
Chase,
Smooth and sweet
Harrison,
This cognac has a very gentle sweetness that doesn't overwhelm the palate and is smooth throughout the experience.
Don't buy this bottle expecting to get Hennessey.
It's a great addition to any bar because of the unique flavor and the price point is very good.
Darrien,
Cognac is one of my go to drinks and I really enjoyed this very much
Troy,
Spicy and warming on the tongue with a nice lingering richness. It lacks some complexity but is enjoyable. I wouldn't turn it down but wouldn't search it out.
